Description de l'ouvrage

1 juin 2013

Scientific studies have shown that looking at pictures, drawings, and other graphics engage both sides of the brain--opening the "mind's eye" and business systems to new possibilities we might not otherwise see. Frustrated by lackluster approaches to strategy, companies are combining illustrations and color with business strategy with phenomenal success.

If you want to go beyond drawing on the back of a napkin, this book shows you how.

Picture Your Business Strategy will help you master the principles of "strategic illustration," a proven system for visualizing ideas. Pictures and strategy come to life in the board, conference, or meeting room quickly, easily, and brilliantly. With just a few markers and paper, you can:

  • Use pictures to restructure, reorganize, and rethink your business plan
  • Draw lines between people, processes, and productivity
  • Create new business possibilities through pictures and idea sharing
  • Chart your progress with benchmarks and goal lines
  • Create a project activity map that allows you and your team to see the big picture--and make it succeed

Packed with clever drawing tips and simple templates to help you unlock your creativity, this inspiring book gives you everything you need to start bringing your big ideas to life. Developed by Christine Chopyak at Alchemy: The Art of Transforming Business, the book provides a fresh new business model for developing specific "seeable" actions that can be measured, tracked, and cascaded intoother priority areas.

There are so many practical, purposeful ways to use drawings in your everyday work environment, you'll wonder why you never did it before. Most important, you and your team will learn how to turn strategic illustrations into real-world results.

Whether you're a boardroom doodler, corporate cartoonist, or Picasso for fun and profit, Picture Your Business Strategy will help you draw your way to success.

"With this approach, organizations can create a cohesive and authentic understanding among teams thatultimately leads to increased motivation and bottom-line results. Chris shows us that drawing isn't just for kids,it's for leaders looking for a competitive advantage." --Tamara Kleinberg, serial entrepreneur and founder of TheShuuk.com

"A brilliant piece of work that brings together the finite world of words with the infinite possibilities of pictures, taking strategic thinking and collective wisdom to a whole new level and presenting a more colorful way ofimagining/imaging the future." -- Sabina Spencer, business strategist and author of The Heart of Leadership

4.0 étoiles sur 5 An excellent introduction to visual thinking 22 octobre 2013
Par Roger C. Parker - Publié sur Amazon.com
I sort of take issue with the tone of some of the reviews; I have an extensive collection of visual thinking, sketching, and visual marketing books and am familiar with the topic.

I feel Picture Your Business Strategy is an excellent introduction to the topic for a broad market of entrepreneurs, managers, and self-employed professionals looking for a fresh approach to planning, problem solving, and collaboration.

It contains enough perspective, details, and examples for any newcomer to visual thinking who has heard the term, but doesn't know where to start.

- Chapter 4, Picturing Your Business Strategy in 1, 2, 3 Acts is extremely helpful, providing a perspective missing in many books.

- Chapter 6, What Do I Do Now?, is valuable because of the many examples shown, which can be adapted and put to work as templates, or discussion-starters, for your next manager's or departmental meeting.

There's a lot of good ideas and tips in this well-produced, hardcover book. I encourage you to give it a chance. It may change the way you think by opening you to new ways of thinking and sharing information.

Christine has used her amazing talents to showcase what few people really understand: our visual sense trumps all other senses. By putting things in a large, visual format, groups are able to understand, synthesize and co-create tangible, actionable business strategies. The images throughout the book take it from being a mundane business book to an approachable and useful set of tools.

Although I am not the target audience for PICTURE YOUR BUSINESS STRATEGY (I'm a teacher and theater director) the principles of thought-sharing and collaboration provided here reach beyond the purview of business. I had the great pleasure of taking "Basic Training" with Alchemy and Christine Chopyak two years ago. This book serves me now as a go-to resource as I continue to tinker with these applications, my skills and creating connections with other non-business types who create, disseminate knowledge, and work in small, medium and large group settings. I am glad to have this text to support my thinking and further my interactions with people who haven't yet been turned on to visual thinking.

As someone who has shied away from business strategies, this book makes sense and I'm enjoying what I'm learning and how to utilize it for my own ventures!
4.0 étoiles sur 5 Just What My Tired Brain Needed 1 mai 2014
Par Kristen Clark - Publié sur Amazon.com
As someone who spent years working in Corporate America, where executives are rewarded for left-brained performance, this book provided a fresh perspective on how to combine business strategy with drawing, color, and pictures in an effort to approach problem-solving more holistically. Though a somewhat lengthy sales-letter, it is brilliantly written and well illustrated. If the author’s goal was to open my mind to new possibilities, opportunities, and personal victories, she succeeded. The content was just what my tired brain needed to jumpstart a more creative approach to business.
