Présentation de l'éditeur

Over the millennia shamanic trance journeying has been used as a way of healing, of providing answers to questions, and of offering solutions to individual, family, and community problems. Though traditionally it was the shaman of the community who went on such journeys, the revolutionary work of the late anthropologist Felicitas Goodman shows that we all have these shamanic powers. Her research on the body postures found in ancient primitive art and in the practices of contemporary shamans offers each of us the ability to experience ecstatic trance journeys firsthand. A student of Felicitas Goodman and Belinda Gore, psychologist Nicholas Brink examines more than 20 traditional trance postures for divination, decision making, letting go of guilt and grief, healing of illness and emotional pain, spirit journeys, shape-shifting, interacting with animal spirits and the dead, and discovering past lives. Exploring the physiology and psychology of ecstatic journeying, he offers guidance for those with little or no experience as well as methods for longtime practitioners to deepen their practice and reclaim the extrasensory power of our ancient ancestors. Offering solid theories of how ecstatic trance triggers healing and spiritual development, Brink explains how trance journeying allows us to tap in to the collective unconscious, or Universal Mind, and access the information matrix of the Akashic field.

Accessing the Invisible Universe 26 avril 2013
Par Gary Gripp - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché
Accessing the Invisible Universe
According to our best scientific understanding, ninety seven percent of the Universe is invisible to humans. It seems likely that none of that hidden part is irrelevant to the business of the Universe, and therefore none is irrelevant to Life, or to us. Also likely is that some part of the invisible world has special relevance for humans and their well-being, and that people before us have made forays into this world and come back into the visible realm with special knowledge of specific relevance. A number of such forays have been recorded in books like Black Elk Speaks and Lame Deer Seeker of Visions. Such seeking is not unknown in our Western culture, but mystical spiritual experience has fallen into disfavor at least since the Age of Reason, which anoints conscious rationality as the One True Way of Knowledge, and denigrates all others. But what if pure reason is only one of many ways of knowing, as those of other cultures and other times have believed? What if, by restricting ourselves to just this One Way, we are depriving ourselves of knowledge that will make us better, more fully integrated, human beings?

In The Power of Ecstatic Trance, psychologist Nicholas Brink goes beyond merely asking this question--he provides ways of accessing this invisible world for purposes of healing, divination, initiation, and other practical Earthly purposes, including spiritual growth and the resolution of inner conflicts. He demonstrates how, by using very specific postures (with rattling or drumming providing a non-ordinary background) an ordinary person can achieve visions and insights often thought to be the exclusive province of shamans. In this way, he provides us with access to the invisible realm that is most relevant to human life on Earth. This is a great service to the human community, and a gift to all who make use of it. I, for one, plan to give these postures a try. I am especially interested in the one thought to be the oldest of those yet discovered: the Venus of Galenberg posture. Dating back at least 32,000 years, it has its own special purpose. According to Belinda Gore: "We go to the Sky World to find the patterns that are the original intention for the Earth." As one who believes that our culture and people have lost sight of these original intentions, I am eager to learn what this posture--or rather the portal it provides to esoteric knowledge--has to teach me about right relationship to Nature and the Cosmos.

The Power of Ecstatic Trance: Practices for Healing, Spiritual Growth, and Accessing the Universal Mind
By Nicholas E. Brink, PhD
ISBN: 978-1-59143-152-7

I had never really thought about postures and the physiology of a shamanic trance before I read this very informative book. But I know through my own experience with bioenergetics that physical movement and postures can release a depth of energy that normally remains hidden. We live in times that call for, no, demand that we become our own shamans and look for answers from within like our ancestors did. This is also a great book for experienced shamans; it brings a lot of new information to the subject of shamanism.

I think this book is okay. It is an interesting road to expansión of consciousness yet it is not something you can do on your own, you need guidance to use this technique. I also found that relating to animal consciousness was a bit much for me at this time.

Not ecstatic trance, it's just ordinary seance-parlor-games 8 septembre 2014
Par Wyfy Issente - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché
The title is an abuse of the word " ecstatic" and of the word "trance" ; in other words, a false advertisement. The title should say something more like, " The Power of Enjoyable Hypnotic Imaginary States of Mind". I personally have experienced ecstasy, and i actually know the trance state-of -mind well enough, to assert that the very foundations of this book are false. Yes, what they do, as described in this book, is entertaining and fun, but it's just basically "parlor-games" , or a type of seance. If you can find, or start, a traditional chanting group;( one without any psychobabble), you might, if you're lucky,( and all the conditions are conducive) experience an ecstatic trance. Ecstasy is a feeling...just that...nothing else ; and it's, not involved with any , thoughts, stories,or ideas. Trance (the best kind, there are many variations) is a conscious state-of-mind, where everything is equivalent (actually it's more like equi-valent).And it takes about 15 minutes, on average, for your whole body to adapt...not just your mind (an ordinary mind- trance can be achieved in one breath, if necessary) ; and then when you're there, you'll want to be there for at least another 15 minutes, and that's when you might experience ecstasy.
