And we are talking about a world class body—a body so lean, ripped and powerful looking, you won't believe your own reflection when you catch yourself in the mirror.
And what if we told you, "YOU CAN DO IT without a single supplement, without having to waste your time at a gym and with only a 150 bucks of simple equipment?"
And what if we told you, "With only two exercises for twenty minutes a day, you'll not only be stronger than you've ever been in your life, but you'll have higher energy and better performance in whatever you do?"
And what if we told you, "You can have an instant download of the world's absolutely most effective strength secrets? You can possess exactly the same knowledge that created world-champion athletes—and the strongest bodies of their generation?"
"In my capacity as a leader of Marines, I have to continually balance the matters of mission and training. There is never enough time to train Marines to the standard that exists in a leader's mind. However, if I were to recommend one Physical Training program to develop a Marine's overall strength and fighting capability, it would be one prescribed by Pavel Tsatsouline."Lieutenant Colonel George H. Bristol, USMC, Director, Marine Corp
"Whether you're young or old, a beginner or an elite athlete, training in your room or in the most high tech facility, if there was only one book I could recommend to help you reach your ultimate physical potential, this would be it.
Simple, concise and truly reader friendly, this amazing book contains it all.
Follow its advice and, believe it or not, you'll be stronger and more injury-resistant immediately. I guarantee it. I only wish I'd had a book like this when I first began training. Follow this program for three months and you'll not only be amazed but hooked. It is the ultimate program for "Everyman" AND Woman! I thought I knew a lot with a Ph.D. and 40 years of training experience...but I learned a lot and it's improved my training significantly."--Jim Wright, former editor of Flex magazine.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Great knowledge, great value on kindle. 21 mars 2014

I first read this book several years ago and it is probably my favorite strength training book that I own.
Pavel's explanation of how muscles, and the brain even, adapt to exercise are where this book's value really come from. Whether or not you follow the exact program he mentions in this book, the principles and techniques can be applied to any number of lifts or exercises.

This is one of my go to programs when my time or recovery ability will be limited. Absolute minimalist strength program. This would be ideal for a martial artist who wants to build some strength, have minimal added bulk, and a workout that won't conflict with the training and recovery demands of their sport.

It may not be the only strength book you ever need to buy, but if you buy any strength books, you need this one.

A great addition to anyone's stength training library. One of the blurbs about this book is the "two exercises" aspect of it. If this bothers you, don't let it. Sure, he talks a lot about the dead-lift and the press but this book is such more than that. It covers aspects of strength that cover just about every thing you can do in or out of a gym with regard to strength. Loved it.

Did Conventional Power To the People workout for strength from 1st Nov 2013 to 14th July 2014
(had almost 3 weeks off in March to do the Everest Base camp trek, after which I came back 5kg lighter & injured so I had to take another 2 weeks off)

Tested max conventional deadlift on 5th May 2013 & it was 130kg (Before Power to the people) (81kg Bodyweight)
Bench press max was 80kg (Before Power to the people)

Tested max conventional deadlift on 14th July 2014 & it was 145kg (After Power to the people) (79kg Bodyweight)
Floor press max was 85kg. (After Power to the people)

Aswell as doing the strength workout I was doing 10 mins of Kettlebell swings for cardio each workout & MMA sporadically aswell.

I am happy enough with the gains over about a 8 month period, 6.25% increase on my bench & a 11.5% increase on my deadlift.
At more or less the same bodyweight which is what the programme is designed for.
If you want to get big try the Bear workout also in the book, I have not tried it myself but heard reports that it is horrendous to do.

Not amazing gains, but I have never found a programme that worked any better for me.

If you want a minimalistic strength or size programme that needs minimal equipment buy this book.

The explanations regarding power cycling & power breathing are also very useful to someone starting out with weight lifting.

What more can be said about this strength training classic that hasn't been said already? Well considering we are 2 days shy of 2015 lets add some perspective! All kinds of programs have come out, and this one seems to have been forgotten and that is a shame! I really believe this approach and the programming lessons contained within have tremendous value for strength enthusiasts everywhere.

First and foremost this book is about the biggest bang for your buck. It's true that it focuses it's programming on the execution of two lifts but I would like to challenge you to this thought experiment- if you can bench 300x5, and deadlift 500x2, would you not have more than ample strength? Would your physique be lacking or just in need of slight refinement?

While I would love to have Pavels take in the squat, you can certainly apply the principes of what he is teaching here to the squat.

That's probably the key part. Focus on the principles of the program, use them to your advantage and reap the rewards.

I'm leaving off one star as I believe a modern re-write with the squat can improve this classic.

This is a great book for someone looking to get and stay lean and strong using short but very intense workouts, several times per week. The focus is on only two, multiple joint exercises, the dead lift and the overhead, one arm, side press. The only equipment you will need is a basic, Olympic style barbell set. The object is to work out as heavy as you can for two sets of 5 reps of each exercise 2-4 times per week adding a small amount of weight each workout. You can add ancillary exercises if you wish. I occasionally add some dips and modified pull ups but if you really do the two core exercises the way you are supposed to, you won't have much left. These two exercises work virtually every muscle in the body and if done correctly are extremely safe. No spotters needed.
