Présentation de l'éditeur

Deadly, the fourteenth volume in Sara Shepard's YA Pretty Little Liars series, delivers more juicy scandals, dark secrets, and shocking plot twists. This #1 New York Times bestselling series is also a hit ABC Family original TV show.

High school seniors Aria, Emily, Hanna, and Spencer have all done horrible things—things that would put them behind bars if anyone ever found out. And their stalker "A" knows everything.

So far A has kept their secrets, using them to torture the girls. But now A's changed the game. Suddenly the girls are hauled in for questioning, and all their worlds begin to unravel. If A's plan succeeds, Rosewood's pretty little liars will be locked away for good. . . .

Quatrième de couverture

In Rosewood, news vans lurk outside gated drives and FBI agents are knocking on every mansion door—and it's all because four very pretty liars simply don't know how to be good. Spencer, Hanna, Emily, and Aria have been keeping killer secrets for an entire year . . . things that could land them in jail if A ever told. And now A has.

One by one, the girls' worst deeds come out, and their worlds come crashing down around them. Spencer gets kicked out of Princeton. Hanna gets kicked out of her dad's campaign—and his heart. Emily gets kicked to the curb. And Aria may get kicked out of the country.

The girls are the lowest they've ever been. They've lost everything. But A's not done yet. If A's deadly plan succeeds, the liars will have told their last lie. . . .

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Not the best in the series, but still a good read 3 décembre 2013

First of all, I feel the Pretty Little Liars series must be given some leeway. These books can get predictable and be slightly unbelievable from time to time, but remember this is the PLL series. If you want something with depth, this is not the series for you.

I felt that the past few books in the PLL series were starting to drag; it was really starting to feel like Sara Shepard was stretching the story out in order to sell more books. However, Deadly does pick up the pace and doesn't seem quite as desperate. While still predictable from time to time, Deadly does have some interesting and unexpected twists.

Without revealing too much of the plot, I will also say that it is nice to see the girls finally making some smart decisions. In the past, it has been frustrating to see the girls make the same mistakes over and over. I start to wonder how long this bullying would continue before the girls actually work with some adults to put an end to it.

And while I'm willing to suspend a certain amount logic when reading, PLL can just ask too much of me at times. Unless "A" is a super-genius (and I mean that literally), Shepard just takes it too far. Somehow "A" is everywhere and know everything. "A" can hack computers, phones, e-mail accounts and perform other types of high tech magic. And of course even though "A" is always causing so much havoc, no one can ever catches "A." While some of the PLL series have been more believable than others, I feel that Deadly's story line gets pretty unbelievable (even by PLL standards).

Although I felt this book took an already hard to believe story line and stretched it way beyond what I was able to swallow, I did feel that Deadly was faster paced and less predictable than the last few PLL books.

Pros: new changes to the story line, PLL finally seem to be learning from some of their mistakes, faster pace
Cons: way too far-fetched (there's zero forensic evidence left behind; one or two people can do everything, like hack computers and phones, tamper with videos, etc.)

3.0 étoiles sur 5 SPOILER ALERT: EVERYONE LIVES 10 janvier 2014

This book was a bit anti-climactic and a bit disappointing. The liars actually made some good decisions this time, like telling the police. HELLO!?! A POLICE OFFICER IS NOT GOING TO DROP A MUDER CHARGE! Agent Fuji dropped the girl's charges, which is a bit unrealistic. Also, it ruins the uneasiness of A's stalking if the Liars have bodyguards. But even though they have bodyguards, the girls STILL MANAGE TO SNEAK OUT OF THEIR HOUSES AND MEET UP AT A CREEPY ABANDONED HOUSE! HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?!? Anyway, OF COURSE Allison is hiding in the abandoned house, OF COURSE her partner has the ability to shape shift, and OF COURSE Allison escapes the authorities (again) and hides out, out of all the places in the world, in Rosewood. She has murdered over 5 people, the police are looking for her, and she hides out IN ROSEWOOD. Something is wrong here. HOW DOES THAT BITCH KEEP ESCAPING!? And OF COURSE, Everyone thinks that Allison is dead and will haunt the Liars no more. I wonder what will happen in book 15?

3.0 étoiles sur 5 love the series but will there ever be an ending? 2 janvier 2014

I absolutely love this series and I buy every book the day it comes out if I haven't already preordered it, but as I'm currently reading the fourteenth book in the series I'm wondering if they will end sometime soon because it's getting more unbelieveable than they were in the beginning. If you have not read the book yet, stop now because of spoilers. I'm currently at chapter 13 I believe and the FBI is now involved and it's like come on already like if the FBI can't help than that means either one of two things, someone in the FBI is in on it with Ali and the girls aren't safe or Ali is going to some how magically get by the security all the girls have and someone will be killed by the end of this book. I'm sorry, but is Ali a cat, ghost or a genius because she seems to have 9 lives, she's never seen by anyone and it seems like thr whole country knows about the case and she outsmarts every damn person in the series and is one step ahead kf everyone else. I really hope that 15 or 16 will be the end because it's such a long series when you look at it and dragging it out makes it look desperate, predictable and more fans will probably stop reading and just Google to see who A is instead of spending $20 when the new books released.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 not bad, really 27 janvier 2014

I guess when you get 14 volumes into a series, you have to make room for the ridiculous... But that's what these books have become: ridiculous. Still, 13 wasn't bad, and neither was this one. As far as the later ones are concerned (I call them the after 8 series), these last couple have been the best. Still, it's starting to get old and some of this stuff is just hard to swallow. Good Lord. Rosewood is a media circus by now. How exhausting.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 It was alright, but made me angry at times 11 décembre 2013
Par FantSweetGirl - Publié sur Amazon.com

Overall, this book was pretty decent. The girls finally decide to go to the cops with all the A stuff that has been happening with them and the cops give them each a personal bodyguard. Most of the book, the girls are finally feeling safer because the cops have their back and someone actually believes them about A and is doing something about it. Then that backfires and A frames them and they get in trouble and their families, especially Emily's, turn their backs on them. I was so angry for about the last half of the book because of how Emily's family reacted. They were so rude to her and completely shut her out when they needed to be with each other and I just about stopped reading because I was that angry. We finally find out who A is and it kind of blew my mind, but it actually made complete sense, which I was happy about. The book ends with some things wrapped up but not everything, so there will obviously be another book. I was glad this book was over but it was a quick read and it was pretty good because we finally got some answers.
