Présentation de l'éditeur

This reissue of Pride and Prejudice: The Wild and Wanton Edition launches Crimson Romance's new Wild and Wanton line!

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife . . . in bed. Unfortunately, we've never been able to see Elizabeth and Fitzwilliam in flagrante delicto - until now.

In this deliciously naughty updating of the beloved classic, you can peek behind the closed doors of Pemberley's sexiest master bedroom - and revel in the sexual delights of your favorite couple.
From first kiss to orgasmic finish, this book is every Austen fan's dream come true - the story you love, with the heat turned up to high. It will come as no surprise that the dashing Mr. Darcy is as passionate and intense with his knickers off as he is with them on. And admit it, we've all wanted to see him sans knickers!

This is (almost) the entire text of "Pride and Prejudice" with some sex thrown in here and there.

As if to be purposely distracting, Ms. Pillow's additions are in bold, except when they are not. Many times she adds details to Austen's text without bolding, and in all of those instances it is when she wants to ensure that the reader "caught" Austen's meaning. Clearly, Pillow believes that the average reader is not intelligent enough to understand P&P without the benefit of her powerful insight.

Also, the author eliminates some scenes from P&P altogether. For one example, the scene where Lydia and Mary meet Jane and Elizabeth in Meryton and ride back to Longbourn together -- deleted. Why?? Evidently, Ms. Pillow -- even in her infinite wisdom -- did not recognize the importance of this and other scenes she deemed unnecessary. That particular scene is quite important not only in giving us a better picture of Lydia's character (but I guess Ms. Pillow preferred her bizarre rendition of Lydia), but also because it tells us about what happened between Wickham and Miss King. The author does not understand 'Pride and Prejudice' as much as she thinks she does.

Jane Austen is rolling her eyes in her grave. Her name should be removed from this insult of a novel.

Save your money. Or take your money and buy 'Impulse and Initiative' or 'By Force of Instinct' by Abigail Reynolds instead.

1.0 étoiles sur 5 Terribly disappointing 10 janvier 2011

I am disappointed greatly in this book. I thought it would be a guilty pleasure, but instead it was just a few cheap sex scenes thrown into the original P&P. As such, it was slow and the added bits felt disjointed because of a difference in language and characters. The steamy bits were mostly Darcy masturbating or Lydia being wild. Don't waste your money - it's just not worth it. Read Linda Wells if you want a steamy Darcy and Elizabeth story that actually makes sense.

I need to preface this review by saying that I've loved some, liked some, and wished some were better written, but never HATED a Pride and Prejudice knock-off. I HATE this one. I was stupefied as I began reading and said to myself, "This sounds just like Jane Austen!" IT WAS JANE AUSTEN!! Except for some parts, which were badly written nonsense. DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK. I will never buy another book by this author. It must have been an easy way to make money, but even if I'd thought of it, I'd have dismissed it. Michelle, did you need the money so badly?? I wish I could rate the book as a "0" star, or as a minus rating. This is the first review I've ever written, but maybe not the last. Shameful.

2.0 étoiles sur 5 Could have been so much better 7 janvier 2011

This book is not a retelling of Pride and Prejudice a la Abigail Reynolds, but the original classic as though Jane Austen had left nothing to the imagination sexually. P&P is my favorite book of all time, but I also love reading steamy historical romances, and this book is a combination of the both. I agree that having the "new" parts of the book typed in bold print was a bit odd, but maybe that was stipulation of using the classic. I don't mind the added wild and wanton parts to the book, but I truly would have wished for more contact thusly between Darcy and Elizabeth. The description of the book on the website makes it sound as though they are together more romantically than is actually added in the book. If you are going to have a steamy book with Darcy and Elizabeth at least let them create the steam. While I'm not necessarily opposed to the book, perhaps it would be best to get a cheap second hand copy. The idea of the book had merit, but it could have been so much better. Sometimes your own imagination is the best.

1.0 étoiles sur 5 I was also disappointed... very disappointed... 6 janvier 2011

I agree with C. Rich. This is horribly disappointing. I, myself, am not a P&P purist; in fact I love all kinds of P&P AU. But this read almost like somebody simply scribbled some naughty bits between the paragraphs and called it a day. A shame really.

It was a horrible waste of my money and I wouldn't recommend it to anybody.
