Présentation de l'éditeur

[Siren Allure ManLove: Erotic Alternative Fantasy Romance, M/M, light bondage, HEA] Prince Magnus Sorenson is a warrior who is used to the isolated life of a soldier. He is responsible for the safety of his royal family and their subjects and is haunted by his failure to protect his parents. Magnus never expected to find his aheri--his beloved mate. He didn't deserve him. Archer Stockton is a humble carpenter who plays baseball with his buddies on the weekends. Archie is a gentle giant with a pure heart who was beaten by his father for being gay, causing him to have to learn to talk, read, and walk again. He knew he wasn't much of a catch. Mag deserved better. Magnus knows Archer is perfect for him. Archer brings love and gentleness into his life. Miraculously, Archer can see through the glamour of Mag's world. He also sees the beauty of their future and the babies they will have together. Magnus is a soldier who is afraid. Afraid to hope. Note: It is suggested that the previous title in this series be read first for continuity. ** A Siren Erotic Romance

I added this story onto my review on the first book. . . But since I have time I'll add it here. First off I almost didn't buy this book. But then I wanted to see how the relationship between Archie and Magnus went since there were pitfalls in the first book. The story was well edited and presented.

I enjoyed parts of this story, that a carpenter, basically a lower class citizen, is now mated to a prince -- A change in the social structure of the planet. I'm sure more changes happen as each brother finds their mate. I enjoyed seeing Archie making carvings and working in his trade, carpentry.

CHARACTER SPOILERS: (Because when I review a book I let others know just why I gave this three stars)

Archie is portrayed in being a slow thinker and has physical limitations due to a beating as a teen. He sees himself as less than normal and is thinking of how Magnus could love someone like him. This is a strong thread throughout the book, the angst from Archie about not measuring up. The dedication for this story is geared towards the handicapped. So this part of Archie's character is a big issue in this book. He was known in the past as handicapped, he sees himself in his mind as handicapped but oddly enough Archie wasn't characterized as handicapped. He never showed any of those tendencies around Magnus. In fact it was Archie that was pushing the relationship, coming up with the answers, on the ball smart, physically sound, and it was Magnus turning to Archie for guidance. Archie was the one leading this relationship in a lot of ways. He was even one step ahead. It wasn't until the end of the book that Archie was having problems physically and mentally. He had trouble walking, stumbles, can't function properly, and barely makes it home. Now he is portrayed as handicapped.

My beef was he should have been handicapped during the whole story, not just in his mind and not just at the end of the book. Again, this is a main thread for this book yet it's portrayed so oddly. In comparison is another book I read recently --
Not-So-Simple Simon [Aberdeen Pack 4] (Siren Publishing Classic ManLove). This is a m/m romance and one of the leads is handicapped and portrayed that way throughout the story. In reading the two I noted a big difference in characterizations.

The two guys in this story are just as tender as the first book.

I did wonder why Archie would like being tied up when he suffered physical abuse as a teen. You'd think he wouldn't want to be contained, it'd cause flashbacks of being helpless. But that never happens and he actually enjoys bondage with his mate. And it doesn't trigger his disability.

I appreciate the satisfying ending but I would have loved closure with the threats to the royal family and to the children. I realize the series is ongoing at the same time as the brothers all meet their mates at the same time. But to jump ahead five years and not have anything concrete. . . - Dan's Wife

The adventure and lesson of how 2 broken Alpha males can heal each other and help the people of Sanzel.

Prince Magnus and the Carpenter captured my heart and touched my soul. Lyssa Samuels wove her magic and created a beautiful story.

Prince Magnus and Archie are two wounded individuals; both in need of healing.

Prince Magnus is the General in charge of the Royal Guard. Mohar (the Royal Seer) told the Royal Family that they have to leave their world (Sanzel) to protect themselves from Delegate Kiernan and the Legari Warriors.

Magnus’s parents were staying at their cottage on the outskirts of their kingdom; and Magnus was guarding them while they got ready to leave. The Legari Warriors came to the cottage and Magnus was overpowered and knocked unconscious. When Magnus came to, his parents’ cottage was engulfed in flames. Although there was nothing that Magnus could have done differently, Magnus felt responsible for the death of his parents.

Archie is a Carpenter by trade. When Archie turned 18, he told his father that he was gay. His father’s response was to take a baseball bat and beat him. When Archie woke, he was in the hospital. Archie’s injuries were severe; but with the help of his friends, he learned to talk, read and walk again.

Magnus and his brothers come to Earth to search for their mates. The brothers meet at the baseball field and realize that the team playing on the field is their Aheri’s (Mate’s). Neither Magnus nor Archie think that they deserve a mate. What follows is a beautiful story of two wounded individuals giving in to their destiny and realizing that together they can heal one another and become stronger.

Of course, there is a bit of suspense thrown in which keeps the readers on their toes. I always love a good romance with a bit of intrigue.

Magnus and the Carpenter can be read as a stand-alone; but I would recommend reading it in series order for the most reading pleasure.

I love this series! This 2nd book in the series is wonderful. The characters are so great. Archie is the most adorable teddy bear and Magnus is perfect for him. This book made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me want more. Can't wait for the next book in the series.
