After over nearly 50 years of classes and training in radar, it is good to see a new book that really nails it when it comes to student needs. Past books have tended to either be too light on the engineering side or too heavy on the computational side. In "Principles of Modern Radar" the explanations, math, illustrations, work questions hit a great balance compared to older, classic textbooks. Besides classroom use, this book is tailor-made for the self-study student or someone in an allied field, such as electronic warfare, who needs to get up to speed on radar. You can't go wrong with this great book. I found it interesting to see reviews that talked about sitting down and reading it through. That did not happen with the past textbooks. This should become standard for all introductory radar courses or as ancillary reading on other engineering, physics, and technology courses; government, military (including the academies,) industry, and commercial programs.

This should be required reading, and the basis of every undergraduate or industry course, for both future engineers as well as any others working in the field who need a solid introduction to modern radar. It is an easily understandable, yet truly comprehensive, text that is designed from the ground up as a teaching textbook, rather than as a reference handbook.
Each chapter includes a set of related problems to test the student's understanding of the material plus a well-organized list of additional suggested readings if the student wants to explore any specific topic in more detail.
Answers to selected problems in each chapter are provided in the back of the book and answers to others are intentionally omitted -- an approach that makes this book ideally suited for both a self-taught course as well as for use in a more formal classroom environment. I started reading "Principles of Modern Radar" and have had trouble putting it down. The book provides detailed and concise explanations on all of the important radar topics. Whether one is a seasoned radar systems engineer in need of a review or has just started working in radar this book addresses the needs of all.
