Présentation de l'éditeur

As the title suggests, the book is providing a practical guidance on managing the processes for IT Services. There are lot of guidance available on technology management in IT industry but this book is focusing on technology independent service management. The book will be addressed to all IT people from a process practitioner perspective, however, the fundamentals are presented in simplistic terms, and therefore it should be useful to all IT people. It will describe the process engineering concept and how it can be applied to IT Service Management. This is not about the industry standard framework such as ITIL and COBIT but about the common processes that are generally used in real life operations. I will be using analogies and illustrations from non IT world also to make the things simple. This book does not focus on any technology.

I really liked the initial insights about SLAs, those were valuable. Otherwise, In a light manner I would liken this to learning a new language, then immediately using the words you just learned to get in to a technical conversation, it's hazy and confusing from the start because you are dealing with language then a complex topic on top of it. When I get in to a book that is not a technical manual (commands, etc), I expect the author to break off tiny tidbits of information, contextualize it, give real world examples for easy consumption. If I was in an environment that used this system already, I can see it making a lot more sense because I would be looking for the gaps that I already knew existed, this is the trap I imagine the authors got caught up in and why they presumably thought this book was intelligible.

With a pretty slow read through, I couldn't implement anything at this point, I don't know the steps, I don't know the processes to create the steps, it's basically like I never even read the book, but it could just be me, take it for what it's worth.

Just so you can gauge where this is coming from, I have been in IT for roughly 10 years from helpdesk to Systems Architecture and was finding some failings in our organization with communications and process.
HASH(0x98fd8330) étoiles sur 5 Best book for IT Consultants 1 mai 2014

This is one of the unique book that I have ever seen which gives the complete sight which ITIL does not gives. This book has all the information from the practicality point of implementing IT Process and make it process driven operations rather just implementing the processes in IT environment. The writer has written every bit of information where an IT operations can be improved using the guidelines provided in this book.

One book to have for Process Design, Process Implementation, Process Maturity and Process improvement is Process excellence for operations
HASH(0x98fd8624) étoiles sur 5 Great book for IT Professionals 1 mai 2014

Sincere efforts were made with clear concepts for IT professionals to understand the practicality in managing the process for IT services. I like the Technology-independent approach of the writers; all the books that I have come across until now are more technology dependent. Process engineering concepts and the simplistic approach of the writers has made me come to the conclusion that this book is like a Bible for all IT professionals. Hope the writers continue this simple approach for the complex and changing world of IT service management in future volumes.
HASH(0x98fd8684) étoiles sur 5 Discusses ITIL v2 not v3 (current) 13 janvier 2016

Not sure why a book published in 2014 is talking about ITIL v2 and not v3 (from 2011)? That in and of itself warned me away from purchasing this book and following the writer(s)' advice.
