Présentation de l'éditeur

Home Production of Vodkas, Infusion and Liqueurs is another first of its kind book from Stanley and Adam Marianski. This is not just a collection of recipes, but a set of rules that govern the process of making vodka and other alcoholic beverages. A quote from the book: "From the start, we decided not to write another recipe book. A collection of recipes does not make a person proficient in a new skill. You have to know the How and Why of making spirits; you have to know the rules that govern the process. First of all you have to realize that alcohol is just a tool, albeit a very important one. Once you understand how to manipulate the properties of alcohol, the rest will fall into place." To get the reader started, a collection of 107 detailed recipes are included, which can be studied and used as a reference. By carefully reading this book you will discover that producing new spirits is almost like cooking, one needs to first know the basics and then let the imagination run wild. Everything falls into place and making new drinks becomes routine. After practicing the technique of creating drinks a couple of times, the spirits will consistently be of high quality, become crystal clear and look beautiful. The process can become an art form.

Biographie de l'auteur

Stanley Marianski is the author of eleven books which include topics on meat smoking, pickling and making alcoholic beverages. Stanley actively participates in many forums and conferences related to meat smoking; he is a regular participant of the Wedliny Domowe National Conference in Poland where purveyors of meat products get the opportunity to showcase their goods. His main objective in writing his books which always contain diagrams is to help the reader "understand the sausage making process" and then "create his own recipes." His passion for creating unique sausage blends have been handed down from generations and he looks forward to continue sharing this passion with sons who also co-authored most of his books.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Comprehensive technical approach 15 octobre 2012

This book delivered much more than I expected. The editorial description was accurate, it is a fairly technical exploration of the process for making infusions into liquor, and how to deliver those flavors consistently from just about any source. It contains extensive charts and diagrams illustrating the processes, and methodically works through it step by step. The first half of the book is devoted to this, as well as a brief history of alcohol distillation.

The balance of the book explores recipes for making specific flavored alcohols...and there are over 100 pages of them, so plenty to explore...I see lots of fun there (and lots of gifts for friends)! And there are tips on how to leverage those with just about any other flavors...so I can tweak them...

I'd have to say if you're looking for a coffee table drink book with photo glam shots of the drinks, this isn't what you're looking for. But if you're looking for a thorough, comprehensive and scientific understanding of how to infuse drinks with your favorite flavors, this definitely has it all. I'd like to see these guys tackle the craft brewing process of beers in a similar fashion. That's something that I think would have broad appeal in today's market.

If you've delved into making your own vodka infusions or macerating herbs in alcohol, you've probably stumbled on questions of "how much?" or "at what concentration?" This book eliminates the mystery. I've been making my own liqueurs for over a year now and every batch has required some amount of doctoring with flavors because the concentration of ingredients during the infusion process was a crap shoot. No longer! Measurements and recommendations abound.

This book is very informative from a production, background and history perspective. There is a ton of practical information in here.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A to Z course about making your own alcohol type beverages 13 septembre 2012

This book is different. What I like about it is that it teaches you how to make the stuff. Other books just list recipes. It is a course about making alcohol type beverages.

Information on applying different strength alcohols for making different spirits is first class. A very interesting chapter on calculating recipes.

Until now I have assumed that vodka must be a clear spirit. This book opened my eyes and I have realized that plain vodka plays just a tiny part in the vodka family.

A dry or a sweet vodka or a liqueur can be produced from any fruit, herb or spice and the book explains how.

This book is full of great tips, charts, recipes, and math equations(not hard ones, don't worry) for those interested in making their own liqueurs and flavored drinks and infusions. I have tried a handful of the infusions so far and they come out quite wonderful. Make things you can't find at the store and impress your friends! Viva la cocktail revolucion!

A great read. Full of info, history, and recipes. You'll be making new liquors in no time. The recipes inside are for using Everclear to make flavored liquors. Not a primer on distilling.
