Présentation de l'éditeur

Life isn't meant to be easy, but for Zachary Bennet the last two years have been downright hell. The one shining light in his life, his precious daughter, Hayley. Deciding he needs a clean break, Zack gets a new job in a small town called Leyburn in the hopes they can settle down and live a peaceful life.

Between worry over one brother's increasingly erratic behaviour and constantly walking in on the other two making out with their mates, Simon Holland is ready to pull his hair out. All he'd ever wanted in life was a mate and a family. When his wish is finally answered with Zack's arrival, Simon finds out first-hand how far hate and bigotry can drive some people. But life wasn't meant to be easy and Simon would protect what was his to the end.

After waiting SO LONG for the next book in this series to arrive, I was incredibly excited when it finally came out. Unfortunately, the book sorely disappointed me. It was far too short, much more brief than the other books in the series. The characters were missing depth, and I didn't feel very invested into their relationship. Everything fell into place so easily, and the problems with his mates family weren't really resolved. Overall, I was left with a lot of unanswered questions and felt let down by this installment in the otherwise fabulous Holland Brother Series.

I have never written a review before on Amazon, even though I have over 800 books on my Kindle, so I hope that this was informative and helped some readers! :)

I love Toni Griffin’s Holland Brothers Series. What’s not to like? Family, werewolves, good triumphs over evil, and in Protective Mate there’s a little girl to love. Yes, yes… I am a sucker for baby daddy stories. So sue me. This is one of those books I would classify as a guilty pleasure read – not challenging, just a book to spend a pleasant afternoon enjoying.

I wasn’t fortunate enough to read this book in its first incarnation but since the blurb reveals this version is an expanded book I am delighted to get on board now. One thing about the world some shifter writers build is it gives permission for insta-love through the “my mate” trope, which happens to be a story line I enjoy when it is well done as it is here.

Zack has lost his entire family except for his daughter in the last two years. When his homophobic former in-laws make a play to take his daughter away from him he his hometown and hopefully them behind. When he introduces himself to his new Alpha and his family he finds that the alpha’s brother is his mate. A great deal of the book, a little too much, in my opinion, is spent with swelling crotches and delays in mating due to the baby being around. Come on, guys, put her to bed and shut the bedroom door. However, it does build up to some very hot sex when they finally do get it on.

It turns out Zack has not been able to keep his tormentors at bay and they follow him to his new home where they kidnap the baby from her daycare. His mate Simon and his Alpha Alex track little Hayley to where she is being held in a hotel. At that point we could have a The End and a HEA, but Ms. Griffin has another twist to throw at us in the last chapter. A very BIG twist with a theme that changes the world she has built and will alter the future for this pack of werewolves. I am so excited to be waiting for the next book in this series!

I almost never write reviews, however this book k deserves one. I liked this book well enough originally, but always thoughtwe could have been given the back story in a better way. I chalked those decisions up to it being a fairly new author and eagerly awaited the final chapter - which was great. When I learned the author was re-editing this series and expanding them I was eager to see what changes would br made. I have to admit that with the first two books I didn't really notice the changes, however you can't help but notuce the differences in this book right off the bat. I loved the way the back story is presented now, the additional relationship building, and the way the author dealt with Sarah'sparents was a lot better this time versus in the original version - it was a really nice surprise. Now I am eagerly awaiting the next book in the series to see what changes are made to it - definitely would love a little more back story and a little more relationship building after they give in to their mating.

So far I've liked this series, however this book had glaring issues that made it a displeasure to read. When writing you always need to do research to make sure references to things and facts you are depicting are accurate. The author didn't seem to do this in this book and thus were glaring mistakes that distracted from the story. The grammatical errors were obvious and distracting. Characters were hard to relate to because of obvious issues with age development. When a child is supposed to be 2 and you have the child behave as though they are 1 it's hard to relate, when a child is supposed to be 2 having the child behave as though they are 4 doesn't help either. The author needed to go through editing at least once more an do some basic research and development of facts and depictions.

I liked this one better than the first two. I was easily engaged in the story and felt like I was able to know the characters at least a little bit more than the characters in the previous stories.

The conflict was pretty basic and I think was way too short considering what it was about. It just kind of pops up and disappears within a max of three pages. The mpreg also kinda gets sprung on at the end of the story but Hayley was so cute and I liked the way Zack and Simon's relationship evolved. Especially since Simon was forced to accept both Hayley and Zack and not just Zack. Plus, Zack is a ginger and that's like a major kink for me.

Overall, a nice story I really liked especially since the mpreg was added into it. ^_^
