Présentation de l'éditeur

In this powerful book of quotations, Byron Katie talks about the most essential issues that face us all - love, sex, and relationships; health, sickness, and death; parents and children; work and money; and self-realization. The profound, lighthearted wisdom embodied within is not theoretical; it is absolutely authentic. Not only will this book help you on many specific issues, but it will point you toward your own wisdom and will encourage you to question your own mind, using the four simple yet incredibly powerful questions of Katie's process of self-inquiry, called The Work. Katie is a living example of the clear, all-embracing love that is our true identity. Because she has thoroughly questioned her own mind, her words shine with the joy of understanding. ''People used to ask me if I was enlightened,'' she says, ''and I would say, 'I don't know anything about that. I'm just someone who knows the difference between what hurts and what doesn't. ' I'm someone who wants only what is. To meet as a friend each concept that arose turned out to be my freedom. '' --Ce texte fait référence à une édition épuisée ou non disponible de ce titre.

Biographie de l'auteur

Byron Katie, founder of The Work, has one job: to teach people how to end their own suffering. When Katie appears, lives change. As she guides people through her simple and powerful process of inquiry, called The Work, they find again and again that their stressful beliefs - about life, other people, or themselves - radically and positively shift. Through The Work, anyone with an open mind can learn to identify, question, and heal the thoughts that cause them pain. Katie not only teaches that all the problems in the world originate in our thinking: she gives us the tool to open our minds and set ourselves free. It has been her heart's desire and tireless privilege to Work with millions of people at free public events, in prisons, hospitals, churches, corporations, universities, and schools. Participants at her weekend workshops and her unparalleled nine-day School for The Work and 28-day Turnaround House report profound experiences and lasting transformations. ''Katies events are riveting to watch,'' the Times of London reported. Eckhart Tolle calls The Work ''a blessing for our planet.'' And Time magazine named Katie a ''spiritual innovator for the new millennium.''Byron Katie is the author of the bestselling books Loving What Is: Four Questions That Can Change Your Life, I Need Your Love - Is That True?, and A Thousand Names for Joy: Living in Harmony with the Way Things Are. .... . On her website, you will find her blog, her schedule, a network of facilitators, a free hotline, audio and video clips, articles, and basic information about Katie and The Work, including free materials to download. Her book with Hay House, Question Your Thinking, Change the World: Quotations from Byron Katie was published in 2007, and her latest book, also with Hay House, Who Would You Be Without Your Story?, was published in October 2008.

Format:Format Kindle
This may be one of the most profound books I've read. If Katie's approach to life resonates with you ("The Work"), this book will have a special place on your bookshelf.

This book isn't about "information". If you need "information", look elsewhere. This isn't snackfood. It's not about a quick-fix to problems in your life. (Go see your psychologist.) It's about seeing life in a whole new life-altering perspective.

The book takes you through Katie's laser-focused process of systematically destroying everything you thought you knew about life and simplifying it down to it's beautiful core. The book works its way around a number of topics, but the theme always comes back to "The Work", a simple set of questions that allows you to really see what is going on around you.

It's about how to wade through life without the weight that is currently on your shoulders. She takes you through an amazing journey that will show you that even in the worst of circumstances that the only villain is your own thoughts.

I've read all of Katie's work. I've met Katie in person. I love that this stuff isn't "pie-in-the-sky" pink-crystals-and-new-age-music stuff. It's real. It's very specific. It has changed real people's lives. And if you let it flood your mind, it will change you forever in a positive way.

To be specific, this guide is a compilation of many bits from her other books. However, because they are in small bites, they really strike you deep in your heart. I absolutely loved this book and plan to re-read it regularly.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Taoist Byron Katie 30 octobre 2009
Par asterisk - Publié sur
I read a lot of Taoist and Buddhist books plus Krishnamurti. Byron Katie at first glance seems like another pop psychologist but these quotations are profound. They are not reassuring at all. They call for drastic action to clean up your story about the world, your relationships and especially the relationship you have with yourself. She says we don't know reality or who we are. We relate to ourselves and the world around us through the stories that we weave about ourselves and that is the only way we know. She asks us to drop the stories so we can finally see the world as it is. Not an easy thing to do when you've spent a whole lifetime weaving stories about you, your family, how the world is. We are very attached to our stories. They have become who we think we are.

Byron Katie's Work is all about the unraveling of your autobiography through her questioning technique. She focuses on NOW. Now is the only place where stories are not woven, there is only what is. For me, I don't want to let go of my own personal story, just yet but at least I am becoming more aware of just how much I am writing the world into existence.

Byron Katie's wisdom and words are wonderfully comforting.
I highly recommend her newest book. If you are new to her,
I'd recommend her first book "Loving What Is".

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Question Your Thinking, Change Your Life by Byron Katie 9 mai 2008
Par I. Harvey - Publié sur
These Byron Katie tidbits are well chosen, entertaining & they pack a transformative punch. I keep this book near me & whenever i need to turn my consciousness around--whenever my thoughts have me suffering--i open to any page. It always works.

Byron Katie doesn't traffic in the "spiritual" or in banal self-improvement. Her work is profound. It holds up a mirror to your reality. It annihilates suffering. We are lucky to have her.
