This detector simply works and the GPS features are great. Updating the GPS database is easy and extremely quick. There are a lot more speed traps than we had realized. We have used it traveling from Las Vegas to Reno, NV, then to Oregon and back through the Central Valley of California. It picked up radar signals from a long distance. Overall very happy with it. Update 1/37/3013: We have used this full time and traveled extensively through AZ, NM and Texas. It seems to catch all of the police radars. This is helpful in TX where it seems there are lots of police vehicles with radar, especially in small towns. We are from NV, so we were really surprised at the number of police in TX. Also, if the GPS database is kept up to date, the detector shows all of the photo enforcement areas in Tucson, where they seem to have cameras everywhere.

HASH(0x94a22144) étoiles sur 5 good for price, but boneheaded implementation! 16 octobre 2011

This is my 5th similar detector, so I think I have a good perspective to compare. I'll try to be brief:

Good: great sensitivity! Picks up real cops at terrific ranges over a mile!

Bad: in towns where the cops circle like sharks, it never shuts up. The city mode ONLY mutes the X band when the signal is below 50% strength, but does nothing for actually desensitizing and alerting later. It does NOTHING AT ALL for K/Ka bands, which seem to false more than normal on this detector.

Bad: Terrible falsing in my experience. In order to catch every cop, it also alerts to every store, every other radar detector, and I sometimes suspect itself.

Poor: the "automute" is very subtle.... 80% of full volume isn't very muted! I'd want 20% or less volume in the "automuted" state!

Atavistic Implementation: the "intellimute" function DOES mute quite nicely below user-set engine RPMs. Great idea and a godsend due to the above falsing. But, this unit has GPS, so much better would be to use the actual speed to determine when to mute. The only benefit to this method I can see is if you don't use the GPS module (why?).

Atavistic implementation: cobra uses the same platform for most of their RDs... so the GPS is an afterthought dongle dangling on the side. Ugly and dorky. Benefit is that you can update the POIs without taking the whole detector to your computer -- but I'd still rather it was inside and sleek!

STUPID omission: there is NO way to upload/download user tagged points. I have my own database of points I'd like to dump on the new detector without having to re-visit each point (countrywide) and manually re-tag each again on the detector, while driving. I could understand and accept users not being able to see/change the AURA database, but my own points are mine, and I want access!

BAD and STUPID omisssion: every other GPS-enabled detector in this class has the ability to negative or counter-tag "points of DISinterest" so the detector will NOT alert again at known false locations. With the extreme falsing of this unit, its all the more needed. Nope, Cobra does NOT allow this, making the detector lose its mind every day I pass the local shopping center.

Poor GPS alert range: there is no setting for how far from a GPS POI you want to be alerted. At highway speed, I still only get 50' of warning about RLCs/user POIs. And yes, we have RLCs in 55mph zones here in rural NY, making that half-second range useless. Even at a city 30mph, it would be a slam-on-the-brakes proximity.

Overall: I'd still buy this again at this price, but buyers should know that it has the above really boneheaded shortfalls - Cobra could have just as easily made this unit fantastic, most critically IMHO by including the missing ignore-this tagging.

I searched all this type of product and was impressed with the technoligy and GPS on this product. Great Price and fast shipping. I have three other detectors in my other cars and this one is my favorite. Shows your digital speed,Red light camera warnings and Speed trap when more than one rador is detected in an area.

O f all the radar detectors I tried this is the best one I decided on in the end. You get the best bang for your buck speed and red light camera detector but the descrioption does not clearly state that but it is!!!!
