Book Description
This year witnesses the RAF's eightieth anniversary. To mark this auspicious occasion, the acclaimed aviation author Roy Confers Nesbitt has written and compiled a highly illustrated popular history of the junior' Service. Covering all of the main campaigns and historic milestones, the concise narrative relates the history of the RAF from its formation on 1 April 1918 through the wartime years and into the precarious peace of the nuclear age, concluding with today's hi-tech RAF poised on the edge of the millennium. The author has drawn together an unrivaled collection of over 400 photographs and paintings that bring vividly to life the momentous history of the RAF, from the biplanes of 1918 up to the supersonic jets of 1998. Many are published here for the first time.
