Présentation de l'éditeur

A word of mouth bestseller which has become one of the best loved and most successful books in the parenting field. Steve Biddulph's Raising Boys is to be re-released this month with some startling new research on what helps - and what harms - boys. In this expanded and updated edition, Steve Biddulph shares and gives practical and honest advice to parents so they can recognise the different stages of boyhood and learn how to raise happy, confident and kind young men. Boys need to be parented in a different way from girls with their own very special psychological and physical make-up. Home, society and education have failed boys badly - and these failures lead to unhappy men who cannot fully become happy, responsible, emotionally-confident adults. While it is essential that boys spend more time learning about manhood from their fathers, Biddulph updates his classic to include helpful information for mothers and single mothers with baby boys. This extended edition explores some important topics: . * How Adhd may be caused by stress in the first year of life. * Whether boys should start school later than girls. * Help for single mothers raising sons. * How to choose a sport that does more good than harm. * What we can do about boys and binge drinking. * What science can tell us about teenage boys and driving - and how we can keep our sons safe. Raising Boys offers parents real-life situations, thought-provoking insights, humour and help.

Formidable! un vrai aide pour parents qui veux comprendre en detail les effets des hormones sur leurs petits anges qui sont sur le point de devenir les ados impossible!
Completely opened my eyes as to why our poor ados are in such a pickle and take it out on us! really helped me understand and more so to not fall into the trap of taking it personally! written in such as easy way as to be easy to pick up and go back to!

I was very disappointed in this book. Honestly it felt as though it was written by a very close minded person. It focused so much on boys being sexual creatures from a young age that I was uncomfortable reading it. It had very little advice to give on topics other than having boys sleep with their hands over the covers and keep them out of dark places so they don't play with their private parts. eventually I stopped reading. Normally I share books however this one went to the recycling bin so noone else would be subjected to these views. Still on the lookout for a good book on being a single mom of a boy.

This is a very good book, it has help me understand a lot about why and what is going on with my boy, to prepare my self and him for the next steps in his life, conscious of what I'm doing and not just " hoping that I'm doing the right thing"

A Must Read, before your child is born ! It would help mothers and fathers prepare so much better. I was particularly thrilled with all the sections that dealt with school-related issues.

This book has been all I hoped for. It covers topics in detail with short relevant anecdotes. This book discusses the physiology of boys, their maturation during adolescence and the needs they face during each phase... to the practical outworking in areas such as schooling. Growing up without brothers, male cousins, and attending a girls' school, I am facing the unknown challenge of raising an adolescent boy. This book has significantly reduced the 'unknown' factor and given me more confidence to negotiate the years ahead. I will definitely be referring to it again in the future- and lending it to friends!

I really enjoyed this thought provoking and relevant book. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone interested in understanding those gender differences that make us uniquely male or female. Thank goodness we're not all the same. Where'd be the fun in that?
