Présentation de l'éditeur

The Third Book in the USA Today Bestselling Darkness Series

Try the first book, Into the Darkness, for free.

Life for Sasha isn't getting easier. She has survived run-in's with monstrous Dulcha, lived through an abduction, and even made it past Charles' constant badgering for sex. But if she thought the hurdles of this new life were behind her, she was dead wrong.

When the Regional comes to visit Stefan's clan, the pressure increases. Sasha finds herself on a giant scale, assessed for her magic and held in the balance. If she doesn't have the magic Stefan hopes, she could find herself on the street while still in grave danger. Even with a favorable outcome, however, her inability to use her magic presents a road block not easily crossed.

No, life is not getting easier.

Stefan feels the heat, too. He must finally declare a mate, and admitting his desire for a human is the worst form of taboo. He could jeopardize not only his place as leader, but his and Sasha's lives. His decision is like walking on a razor's edge.

This is my fave installment in the series. Sasha and Stefan are--without question--attached. Stefan has sent for a Council elder to verify Sasha's superior magical rank, and to have a Mage come to train her. For some reason, Sasha's magic doesn't seem to work the way Stefan's people are accustomed.

Every time she tries to cast a spell, it ends in a fiery disaster. Hopefully Toa, the White Mage, can help her sort out the trouble because Sasha is being sent as Stefan's emissary to the nearby shifter population to help secure an alliance against their mortal enemy, Trek, and his minions.  If Sasha is successful she will elevated to the rank of full Mage and will be considered a worthy match for a clan leader--namely Stefan--so she is determined to work hard toward this goal.

Sasha is accompanied by her stalwart--and horny--protector Charles, and Jonas--a good friend of Stefan but someone who had sworn to get revenge against Sasha in the first book. Neither Sasha, nor Charles are certain where Jonas' loyalty lies, however, and they both have serious reason to believe he will not protect Sashs should Trek turn up in the shifter camp.

And, of course, Sasha's confidence is shattered when her rival for Stefan's affection, Darla, arrives as "back up". Sasha is sure this is a "No Confidence" vote on Stefan's part and begins to doubt that she will complete her mission--to gain the shifter alliance--which will mean that she and Stefan cannot be linked.

As it happens, Trek hits the shifter camp hot and hard. A supposed protector is truly a traitor and Sasha must choose between leaving the shifter camp in full battle to protect herself, or turning back to help her new friends. As this is an adventure/erotic romance you can guess the choice she makes.

It's a satisfying end, with an epic battle that proves Sasha's true worth as both a human and a Mage. The resolution hints at further installments, but the series is fairly well-wrapped. Had a great time with Charles--Sasha always seems to get the better of him, Watch Captain or no. I think the best part of the book was the uncertainty surrounding Jonas and Darla. Both had good reason to want Sasha in harms way, but one did the right thing and proved his/herself the supreme protector.

It's a fun spicy adventure, but there was far less spice and far more adventure which seemed to be the right mix for me this go-round. Again, not recommending this for young readers. Whole lotta lovin' goin' down...

Sometimes you get so attached to fictional characters that when a book ends, you miss them. Such is the case for me with Sasha, Stefan, and Charles in the latest KF Breene series. The third installment in this story was released yesterday, and I happily and greedily got sucked back into their world.

This is a compelling series, full of mythological creatures and beings remade so skillfully that they seem normal. Paranormal and fantasy isn't my favorite genre, because it takes a skilled writer with a firm grasp of reality to write a story that seems legitimate and relatable. KF Breene is exactly that kind of writer, and I thoroughly enjoy reading everything she writes.

On A Razor's Edge picks up more or less where Braving the Elements left off, with Stefan and Sasha totally in love and screwing every chance they get. With the much anticipated arrival of the Regional - essentially the Boss's boss - we see Stefan in a whole new light, and learn more about how Stefan's people fit into our world. There is also another species of almost-humans and a road trip involved. Lots of magic, lots of information, lots of fun.

Honestly, the real world seems pretty boring and staid in comparison.

The more I read this series, the more intrigued I get. Yes, I love the hot sex and the proliferation of physical beauty, but it is the magical power and the non-human creatures that really fascinates me. I am a bit wistful for their almost-real world, and after each book I look at our world a bit differently. It's possible there are other human-like species walking around....it's possible that humans have the ability to wield magic, if only we knew how....it is all very possible....

This third book lives up to the high standards of fun, interesting, and hot established by the first two books. It is a enchanting read, and while several important issues are satisfied, it will leave you hungry for the next book.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Another fantastic installment in the Darkness series. 30 avril 2014

I received On a Razor’s Edge in return for an honest review as part of the tour hosted by AToMR Promotions. Sasha and Stefen have survived the most recent kidnapping they are now waiting for the Regional to show arrive. When the Regional arrive they test Sasha to see if she truly is a black mage or if it’s a mistake after all the black magic uses are just a myth. They also notice that Stefen has marked her but it’s not out of business but because he loves her. The pair is nervous that they won’t let them be together but after seeing what Sasha can do things are looking hopeful. With the help of Toa a white mage Sasha may just learn to control her powers.
Stefen and his people have been at war with the Mata who happen to be shape shifters but the Regional wants to form an alliance. Wanting to keep them happy so that he can keep Sasha as his mate Stefen agrees to let her live with the Mata as an exchange program. It will give her a chance to work with Toa on her magic as well as learn to be a leader. With a friend from the past claiming her she may have found her place in Stefen’s world but will it last? What about the threat that still wants to take control of Sasha and has found a way to get her?
Oh Sasha you just keep getting better with age. Each book I find myself liking her more and more, she has this spark you can’t help liking. She’s has a sense of humor that makes me laugh even if she’s creating killer treats or taking dinosaur bites. She may be lacking in training but she’s still willing to give it a shot even when it ends badly. I love the chemistry between Sasha and Stefen they are a power couple who love each other and are willing to risk everything for each other. I still like Charles he puts up with so much but handles it well.
I found On a Razor’s Edge to be a captivating installment in the Darkness series. I couldn’t put it down I just had to know what was going to happen to my new favorite power couple. The author introduces the twist of shapeshifters which I felt added a new dynamic to the mix. I’ve read the series back to back over the course of a day and half one after another. This is another installment I finished in a few hours. I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next with the series. An action packed story filled that kept me on the edge of my seat till the very end only to leave me wanting more. The characters are engaging I feel like I’m really connecting to them. The covers are beautifully done just like the story that is beautifully written. I really enjoyed reading the book it was a surprise after how much I enjoyed the series. The first book is a little rough but the second and third are fantastic. This is my first series by this author but I plan to check out what else is available while I wait for the next book….”hint hint”

I don't normally write reviews, but I felt compelled to give this series a five star rating. It made me laugh out loud, it made me tear up in all the right places and the characters came to life as though they were old friends. Charles is quite a character, Sasha is magical but oh so human with all of her flaws and wit making her a very likable though unlikely heroine. There is a lot of adult content but being an adult I had no problem with it and it wasn't entirely over the top. Once I started reading I couldn't put it down which is how I measure a really good read. I am patiently awaiting the next book in the series, until then I am going to investigate some more of this author's books. I have a feeling I will not be disappointed.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Entertaining but oh so short 7 mai 2014

Yeah a decent story with a great potential to become a good fantasy with juicy details.

But it is way too short, so it's more a novella than a good hearthy book. Books I-III should be set into one single book. Then it would be worth it's salt to read in one go.
