Présentation de l'éditeur

Sometimes love needs a little push in the right direction.
Or a good and proper shove.
At least that’s what Dianna Trowl believes, profusely, or else she’d never have done what she did.
It would have been foolish, it would have been a scandal, if…it hadn’t of worked.
But it did, and sometimes the price to pay for a gentleman’s attention is worth every penny.
And convincing Lord Southridge to believe in love at first sight?
Priceless.

I read "What the Duke Wants" and enjoyed it enough to look for other stories written by Kristin Vaden. I chose this book because it looked to include some of the characters from the first book I read. It was only a dollar, but it was a dollar spent on what can only truthfully be called an advertisement for "What the Duke Wants!"

The story starts out promising, but stops before there is any conflict or drama. It is just the weakest possible background story of Lady Southridge. In a few sentences at the end of this snippet of a part of a story, Vaden attempts to give reason for Lady Southridge's motivation for helping out the Duke. The entire story that I paid for is less than half of the pages of the book. The rest of the book is a sample of "What the Duke Wants." So annoying. The publisher, Amazon, and Vaden should all be embarrassed to be selling this as a legitimate story.

The worst part is that Dianna is such a promising character and deserves a better telling of her story. What a waste.

This is a short story...a VERY short story that is basically the set-up for the next book in a series. The entire length of this story is only about 20 pages. The remainder of the 60 or so pages are given over to a preview of What the Duke Wants.

Having read the sample before purchase, I purchased The Only Reason because it seemed to offer some promise of a little deviation from the standard formula for Regency era romances. However, because of its brevity it quickly devolved into the girl meets boy, instantaneous love ensues model. Characterizations held largely unfulfilled promise. The whole thing felt like one tiny bite of an appetizer that tastes good, but leaves you hungry and frustrated.

Kristin Vayden's The Only Reason for the London Season is a wonderful quick read. Dianna Trowl was still single this season, so she decided that she was going to take matters into her own hands and do things a little differently. Meanwhile, Lord Southridge is bored to tears with the young dull women of the season who only answer every question with a `yes, my lord' or `no my lord.' Will the spirited Dianna and Lord Southridge find love at first sight?

The Only Reason for the London Season is a sweet, yet sassy, happy, fun story! I adored the interactions of Dianna and Lord Southridge. Dianna is a feisty character that knows how to go after what she wants. I laughed out loud and had a smile on my face the entire time.

If you enjoy Regency Romance or are just looking for something to bring a smile to your face then go and pick up Kristin Vayden's book!

Just got through reading The Only Reason for the London Season and had to post this review. I feel in love with the talent of Kristin Vayden. First, the cover is a eye catcher. After you open the book (or turn the page on Kindle) and start reading, instantly you are caught up in the story. Dianna Trowl is the kind of h I enjoy. Smart, witty and knows what she wants and has a plan to achieve it. Lord Southridge is not caught up in beauty, although Dianna is beautiful, but he is looking for a wife who is not boring. How Ms. Vayden wrote with the witty inteaction between the two will have you caught up in their banner. This story is short, but a great introduction to What the Duke Wants available now. I strongly suggest any of Kristin Vayden's books.

...and that's about it. Extremely short story that seemed a perfect illustration of how *not* to write a story - any story - and certainly not a period piece.

It's about the 'fluffiest' tale I've ever read. Nonetheless, I *did* pass a pleasant, somewhat bemused, few minutes, and the book is free!

I didn't involve myself in the glimpse of the following book.
