5.0 étoiles sur 5 Best book I've ever read on this topic. 27 mars 2013
Par Kevin Kruse - Publié sur Amazon.com

This is a great book for everyone who realizes that the days of lifelong employment are long gone and for those who are interested in taking control of their career, in order to get a promotion, get a new job or to even switch career paths.

What I like is that this book isn't just focused on "personal branding." It's NOT about your personal elevator pitch, or working the room at the local business card exchange. Instead, the author provides a series of exercises to help you to understand things like:
- Your objectives
- Your competitive advantage
- Crafting your narrative
- Ways to demonstrate your value

Lots of fun reinvention stories, too, from everyday people and famous people alike.

Best book I've read on this topic.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Good, but not so applicable for normal people 1 mai 2013

It is a good book, but it seems to have been written for already successful people that are wanting to change career. The author presumes you already have a network of influent people, and that everybody is wanting to help you to get to your new objective. Besides that, you should meet your friends and ask them what are your own weaknesses. I don't know about you, but I have not such friends (at work), coleagues or boss who I can ask such a question.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A Must Read! 28 mars 2013

Either you know and love someone who is going through a career and life change, or you are yourself; Reinventing You should be a staple for business & life coaches to give to clients, and required reading for all business school students and career organizations and agencies. You can't change what you don't acknowledge and it can be hard to set your ego aside (especially if you suddenly find yourself in an unplanned transition), to uncover what your brand really says about you and how it is impacting your life. Reinventing You is a step by step guide that offers support and hope to people struggling through the challenges of career transition. Whether you're just getting started in your career, trying to fit the company personality of managers, or making a mid-life planned adjustment to how you live, work and provide, its amazing to have a clear process for learning how others see you, without destroying your self confidence, and then adjusting your actions to change your brand, while strengthening personal & professional relationships.

Buy this book as a gift for someone you know; it could be the most valuable gift you give!

Dorie is down to earth, connected, experienced and has been though the transition herself, so she knows what she's talking about. Check her out here on this Google+ Hangouts on Air where we talked about her book, and how becoming a published author was impacting her career > [...]

5.0 étoiles sur 5 If you're looking for practical tools to stand-out in the digital age, I'd highly recommend it. 6 avril 2013
Par Dustin A Watkins - Publié sur Amazon.com

Dorie is well-known for her expertise in marketing strategy. What I didn't realize was her passion for personal branding. It's an important topic, and one to which she's brings considerable professional and personal experience.

In this book, she offers practical tools to help ANYONE position themselves for success, helping others to understand who you are and the value you provide.

While offering deep wisdom on brand building strategies and tactics, the book remains very much accessible to lay people who don't have the time to dive full-in. Throughout the book, I found myself consistently thinking of friends who might benefit: a recently unemployed newspaper veteran, a church staffer transitioning to the non-profit world, a young professional looking to stand-out in her office, etc. Though comprehensive, it was surprisingly concrete and down to earth and gave lots of actionable advice.

If you're looking for practical tools to stand-out in the digital age, I'd highly recommend it.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 a must-read for anyone considering a career change 28 mars 2013
Par Kare Anderson - Publié sur Amazon.com

Dorie cites Henry Wadsworth Longfellow: "We judge ourselves by what we feel capable of doing, while others judge us by what we have already done." Her very concrete steps for making that change -- and explaining them in credible, vivid ways -- would have helped me enormously. Dorie offers an eleven-step roadmap for redefining and living your brand. As an ardent believer in specificity I especially value Dorie's bulleted pointers and questions for close self-examination. They are buttressed by relevant stories and examples. Dorie writes from first-hand experience, going through several distinguished chapters of professional reinvention that included being a political journalist, and a former presidential campaign spokesperson to her work today. She is a strategy and communication consultant who supports organizations in marketing and brand reputation. She also writes for Forbes and Huffington Post.

Some Re-Invention Tips from Dorie's Book:

* To launch her new consulting business: "I honed my narrative (what am I bringing to the table?), crafted my content (so clients could get a taste of my ideas and approach), and began using every vehicle possible - from speaking to writing to enlisting `validators' - to spread the message."

* Conduct a 360 focus group of friends and colleagues to see how they perceive your brand. "If three people tell you you're a horse, buy a saddle," advised angel investor Judy Robinett.

* Encourage candid responses in that focus group with what executive coach, Michael Melcher, calls "paired questions" such as "What's my strength? What's not my strength?"

* "Research your destination" then "test-drive your path."

I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to either reinvent or refine their brand so they can use their best talents more often at work. A complementary book for Millennials will soon be coming out, which I highly recommend, having received an advance review copy: Dan Schawbel's Promote YourselfPromote Yourself: The New Rules for Career Success Key to the message in both books is the capacity to connect well with others, for which Moving From Me to We Moving From Me to We offers over 300 tips
