HASH(0x9c83bad4) étoiles sur 5 IT'S ALL GENGHIS WITH BASEMENT JAXX 29 décembre 1999
Par Un client - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
I reluctantly picked up this album looking for a pumpin' house CD, and I definitely got my money's worth. It is an excellent mix of house, samba, and all-around fun-kay beats. It's easy to listen to all the way through, my favorite tracks being the eerie but solid intro "Rendez-vu," the slick, danceable(?) "Yo-Yo," and the single "Red Alert" which blew me away with its earth-shattering bass line the first time I heard it. If you aren't yet a fan of house, this album could very well change your outlook. It's an up-beat, ingenuitive album with pumpin' head-shakin' tunes that will not cease to entertain you.

House usually isn't my thing, but because 'Remedy' really defies classification it's usually just lumped into this category for convenience. But there's a hell of a lot else happening on this CD. Of course, the big songs ('Red Alert', 'Rendez-Vu' and 'Jump and Shout') were what made Remedy big in the first place and will probably get you hooked initially, along with 'Always be there', which would have to be one of the most erotic songs of 1999. But it's the funky little touches (Gemilude, Sneakalude) and straight-out weirdness of some songs (Same old show) which will keep you snapping your fingers and singing along to your discman for months to come. Nice one.

HASH(0x9c83beb8) étoiles sur 5 Da Jaxx with an ace first album 9 mars 2000
Par DJ RoyGbiv - Publié sur Amazon.com

I'm a long time Jaxx freak, but havent loved everything that these two have put out. This album was a chancey buy and after my second go around thru the track list, I must say this is definitely one of my favorites of all time.
Felix and Simon shine so brightly on this album. Their creativity is absolutely ASTOUNDING! They both are really maturing in their craft and it is very apparent with this release.
From the very first song to the last, there is always something new to catch with every listen. Ranging from the super-simplistic groove of "Being with You" to the ultra-complex/how-in-the-world-did-they-do-THAT? layered jam, like "Always Be There", this CD delivers.
I believe that most house fanatics will fall in love with this album, as I have. A few of the songs have taken a few listens to grow on me but they are all great.. and the cameo appearances by DJ Sneak and Gemini were an excellent surprise.
I just wish that the flipside of "Same old Show" (on the vinyl) would have made it to the CD. Maybe it will be on the next full length...

This album was great, probably one of the most innovative house albums of the year.
The Bassment Jaxx, who's been around for years, finally come out with their debut album. The album is very dubby and sample alot of Jazz, Hiphop, Salsa sounds.
As the trance phenonmenon seems to spread throughout the Dance scene, Bassment Jaxx seem to re-invent the meaning of House music. Each song posses a unique characteristic to it. Rendez-vous having a very ol skool disco song, while Yo-Yo would be what you track full of bangin beats. Their first single off the album "red alert" is a very clubby song that has screaming vocals and a repetitive recycle beats. "Being with U" is always on the play list among everyone from Roger Sanchez to Eric Moriello, this is a slow down, kind of garage feeling track.
This is an awesome album for people like house music. Some people from America may not understand it, because they generally label every techno, comparing everyting to such Big Beat artists like Chemical Brothers, Norman Cook, and Prodigy. The Dance scene is much bigger and broader than some people think.
But all the house heads would love this wide diverse album. It may be the year of the Trance but nobody said that House was dead.

when you read the reviews of this cd, dont disregard the ones that gave it 5 stars and said things like "omg! this is the best ever! ive never danced so much in my life! this is mad-phat!"
the reason they sound so incoherent and excitable is probably because they are listening to the album while writing the review.
you see, they just can't help it. this album takes all the words and coherence out of your mouth. all you can do is "wooooooo!"
youve already read (or will soon) about which tunes are hits, etc. so i wont bother. i will mention that "same old show" is a nifty little spin on house music. you see, most dance tunes have a 4 or 8 (double 4, you see?) count. they go 1, 2, 3, 4, repeat.
Same Old Show goes 7 and repeats. you dont get a grasp on that until you hear it. its a rather nifty effect.
anyways that aside, everyone either loves or hates the BJaxx.. i dont understand the haters, but i guess everyone gets their opinion.
this is a dance album that sounds like it was done live.
take it or leave it, its an essential.
