Awesome! Great! Superb! 4 août 2007
Par Pedro Mendoza - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
I just got this. By the way, bought it from Tower.com and it cost me around $26 with free shipping. It is surely a great CD for those of us still wanting to listen to good music and not that Hip Hop crap or EMO stupidity (Rock N Roll is supposed to be fun, not gangsta, bling, or sadness B.S.). Unfortunately, this kind of music is not made in the USA anymore, and the few bands that play it are considered "cheesy". God knows why. Let's see: good guitars (not tuned low, but high as they should be, and great solos - whoever decided that solos were not cool anymore?), great vocals (hard to find anymore), great drums and bass. Where is the cheese? The looks? Hey, it's Rock N' Roll! The lyrics? It's supposed to be fun! (if we want to listen to "deeper stuff" we can always listen to Floyd, and Zep, right?) Fortunately, in Sweden there is a new "Sleaze Rock" movement with bands like this, and Veins Of Jenna, and we can buy their records here in the States. Rock on, brothers!!!

Yep I have to agree 6 mars 2010
Par Paul Lawrence - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
Yep I have to agree with the biography above in regards to the statement that this band were part of a `revival of the glam metal (or hair metal) of the 1980's, but with a more pronounced punk element, often rawer in sound and raunchier in style'. Because that statement so eloquently describes what is going on with this disc.

Buying this on a whim I was heartened to find wonderfully ridiculous band names (Dave Lepard on vox for instance) and band photos that look like they were taken in the toilet of the Roxy not to mention a clutch of song titles deliberately spelt wrong and an overall sense that these guys had been born 20 years too late and decided to form a band with the express intention of partying like it was 1989 regardless of what the calendar on the wall says. And to that I raise a hearty salute.

Musically this album sounds like a Motley Crue record except with more consistently good songs and an attack that just doesn't let up - even the mellow songs do the ol' cut and thrust thing and with nary a single track hitting the four minute mark these guys don't waste any time getting their point across. Not that there are any deep thoughts amongst these rockers - song titles suc has Breakin' the Chainz, Out of Line and Straight Outta Hell should give you a fair indication of what is going on.

The production is thick and meaty, not as shiny as that sported by the debut by the Sex Slaves (another band of similar ilk) and the booklet has all the lyrics and a bunch of photos.

Basically if you put Skid Rows debut in a blender with some Motley, a tiny dash of Michael Monroe and a sprinkling of punk (just a sprinkling mind) you'd get this album of good time hard rawk.
An album landmark of a new generation of Sleaze metal 10 mai 2011
Par Nikiforos V. Skoumas - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
"Rest in sleaze" is the debut album by Swedish sleaze metal band "Crashdiet" originally released in 2005. This debut would arguably become a landmark record for sleaze metal in the new millennium for all the right and wrong reasons. As hinted by the front cover, "Crashdiet" are authentic, unashamedly glamorous, sleaze metalers featuring guitarist Martin Sweet, bassit Pete London, drummer Eric Young and singer Dave Leppard.

Most would agree that "Crashdiet" stormed the scene with similar aggression, passion and attitude to American icons "Skid Row" and "Guns `n' roses". Indeed the quart et effectively reinvented the sleaze metal of the 80s into a heavier, thicker and catchier mix that set new standards for the genre (at least regarding the sound of European sleaze metal) .

Songs like "Riot in everyone", "Breaking the chainz", are ideal attitude-fuelled anthems, "Queen obscene" is more of a party rocker, while "It's a miracle" provides a potential radio/mainstream hit for "Crashdiet". Beyond the large choruses, the heavy riffs, the guitar melodies and solos, what makes "Rest in sleaze" a classic is the fact that it sounds convincing; the glamorous attitude is real, the sleaze atmosphere is real and the passion in performance undeniable.

Despite the domestic chart success of "Rest in sleaze" the album would also become a synonym of tragedy for the band and their fans as Leppard would commit suicide shortly after the launch and success of the debut. "Rest in sleaze" is indeed a modern-day classic for the glam/sleaze genre.
Sleaze, please! 8 octobre 2011
Par Justin G. - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
Swedish sleaze rock merchants Crashdiet exploded onto the scene in 2005 with their debut album Rest in Sleaze, the first (and only) Crashdiet album to feature original vocalist Dave Lepard (RIP). Like Hardcore Superstar and Nasty Idols, Crashdiet was one of the early bands in the Swedish scene to embrace the classic Hollywood hair metal sound and give it a healthy dose of Swedish melodic punch.

Rest in Sleaze is a real kick in the teeth, especially compared to the stuff mainstream radio tries to pass off as "rock." Crashdiet takes the wild energy of bands like L.A. Guns, Motley Crue and Bang Tango and makes it catchier, more melodic and more polished. It's the next generation of party rock, and it's an absolute blast. If you can listen to songs like "Riot in Everyone," "Straight Outta Hell" and "Queen Obscene/69 Shots" without wanting to crank the volume up and shout along, you probably don't like rock n' roll. This is just a fantastic rock record, and it remains Crashdiet's best album (though their latest Generation Wild comes close).

The new Swedish sleaze rock scene has produced some amazing (and amazingly fun) bands, and Crashdiet is one of the best. Whether you're a child of the `80s or are just looking for some fun, uncomplicated rock n' roll, Rest in Sleaze is the album for you. And just in case you were wondering if American bands still played this kind of rock, check out bands like Dirty Penny, Rockets to Ruin and Endeverafter. Rock n' roll is alive and well if you know where to look for it.
