BearManor Media presents "ROBERT TAYLOR:A BIOGRAPHY" (Paperback) - by author Charles Tranberg, who has carefully chronicled this fascinating time in the Golden Age of movie making during the '30s thru the '50s. Where Hollywood dominated so many of the stars, Robert Taylor among them. Tranberg the great author he is, gives us an inside glimpse of the star and yes the man we all saw on the big screen in a dark theater. Well done!
Very touched by the preface written by his son Terry. Listen to a few passages and see what kind of man his father was.
If asked to name the ten biggest stars of Robert Taylor's time, his would not have made the list. I'm sure he felt that an autograph from him was a waste of time for the fan requesting it, but he never turned one down, no matter how intrusive on his private time.
For every inch of stardom, he gave a mile of modesty. for every ounce of notoriety, he gave a pound of humility. His belief that he may have lacked acting ability or perhaps not fully recognized it was more than made up for in his belief and love of country, friends, family and the things most important to him. His love of country led him to courageously testify against his hatred of communism.
There is a quote from Terry Taylor's brother-in-law and drama coach, Sal Dano, defines Robert Taylor and his contemporaries --
"Years ago they were twice the men and half the actor. Today they are twice the actor and half the men."
Taylor was a modest man, sometimes too modest. He would be the first to insist that he wasn't a great actor, but I believe he was a great star instead of a great actor -- and that in many cases is right up there with the best, and he was one of the best.
Very reasonable and a good value for the price --- For product description and editorial review check this out on the Amazon site above my review.
