Présentation de l'éditeur

Jet McAlister has a secret. Eddie Chavez has the hots for Jet (not to mention Eddie’s just plain hot). Jet has too many problems to realize that Eddie’s interested. Eddie loses patience when Jet ends her waitressing shift at a strip club with a knife at her throat. Since Eddie’s a cop, he figures he can help. Since Jet’s used to solving everyone’s problems she doesn’t want Eddie’s help.

Throw in a Dolly Parton look-alike, a gruff but lovable strip club owner, Jet’s ne’er do well father, his ne’er do well friend, Bear, Bear’s long-suffering, chain-smoking wife Lavonne and the crew from Rock Chick and you’ve got Rock Chick Rescue.

Rock Chick Rescue takes you on a wild ride with Jet, Eddie and the gang as they wrestle bad guys in a bagel shop, hit Denver’s backstreet poker tables (with big hair), and help the strippers at Smithie’s take down a would-be murderer.

Through this, Jet’s got to learn that even when life made you give up your dreams, you can still end up with the (hot) guy. Eddie’s got to rescue Jet from a bad man (so he can do better things with her) and teach her that some dreams can come true.

Biographie de l'auteur

Kristen Ashley grew up in Indiana, but has lived in Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least), but loopy is good when you want to write. Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched). Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up. And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

There were times while reading this book, I actually shouted out loud: "Just give-in Jet!!" An exhaustingly hilarious story about a truly charming, not-so-suave underdog we can all relate to! Just give-in: order the whole series now, you'll end up reading them anyway!!

Second in the Rock Chick series, RC Rescue continues the model from the first: alpha male, independent woman come together against a backdrop of, well, mayhem. The series is hot, fun and sexy without being erotic (e.g, Ashley's book Knight). If you like your men possessive, intense and yet only slightly controlling, then this is the series for you. Eddie Chavez is one of a trio of men who grew up together. Lee (Liam), featured in Rock Chick #1, went into private security. Darius became a drug dealer. Eddie is a vice cop. He and "Just Jet" McAlistair meet, have great chemistry and the story takes off from there.

Kristen Ashley is a great, straightforward writer - no fancy turns of phrase, no mushy stuff from the men and really funny dialogue. Her characters are well rounded and they have friendships that run deep. If I were 28 (Jet's age) again, I'd want to have a crowd just like the one's that frequent Fortnum's. Shoot, I wouldn't mind it now. Sort of like Sons of Anarchy meets Modern Family.

Once I finish the series, I will probably re-read it (I'm already jonesing for Rock Chick #1 (Lee and Indy), so I know these are keepers.) Can't wait to get to Rock Chick Redemption (# 3)!

Well, Book 2 in the Rock Chick series and another rip-roaring ride through a romantic suspense.

We are introduced to Eddie and, briefly, Jet in the first book. Jet is the shy new girl at Indy's bookstore and Eddie is Lee's best friend and a smokin hot, flirtatious Mexican-American detective.

Jet is pathologically shy around men that she finds attractive and manages to turn into the clumsiest girl in the known cosmos around them - I had to laugh when Jet refers to 'hot guys' as a 'kind' and everyone assumes she is being racist. Despite all this, Jet is working two jobs, Fortnums by day and Smithies by night as a waitress at a lap-dancing club. She's doing all this to help fund her Mum's medical bills who is suffering the sequelae of a stroke.

One day, whilst studiously trying to merge with the background in Fortnums when Eddie is around, Jet's audacious Father turns up in the store and serenades her, much to her embarrassment. Her Dad is a lovable rogue and has managed to accumulate some serious gambling debts owed to Slick, a Denver crime boss. He needs to borrow $500 which Jet can ill-afford and then disappears into the night. That night Jet gets threatened at knife point as she leaves her bar job and the next day Eddie steps in.

Eddie is your absolute typical Kristen Ashley hero - deeply possessive and protective. He's been watching Jet for a couple of months and is not happy that she's working two jobs and in particular where she is working. The danger and threat to Jet escalates and Lee and his crew swing into action to help Eddie protect her.

The suspense story continues with kidnappings, shootings, threats of rape to mention but a few and the romance is smokin hot. This is the super-hot, very self-confident guy with the girl next door with no self-esteem. Jet constantly doesn't believe herself good enough for Eddie and thinks he will bore of her once the action calms down. Eddie spends most of the book trying to convince Jet that she is far from normal and not in the least boring.

Eddie was wonderful - there's something totally droolworthy and swoontastic about a man whispering endearments to his woman in spanish. He can whisper 'carina' or 'querida' in my ear anytime!

We have the rest of the Rock Chick crew all getting themselves into trouble - Indy, Ally, Tex, Duke and we meet a few new ones. The only thing that disappointed me was that Lee and Indy got engaged and this is told in retrospect. I would have loved so much to have read Lee proposing to Indy - soooo much.

Funniest line of the entire novel.............

"How can there be a ballgame on at 7:30?" I said, exasperated, staring at the screen.

"English football, it's later there. Man U vs. Arsenal, a friendly."

Man U and Arsenal? Friendly? I don't think so. Freaking hilarious.

Well, perhaps you have to be English to get why that is so funny.

Anyway, still can't put Kristen Ashley down so on to Rock Chick Redemption

4.0 étoiles sur 5 What's with all the lying? 8 mars 2013

OK. I just read this book for the 2nd time. I had decided to go through the entire series again and guess I'd forgotten how much I just plain hated this so-called heroine. She lies all the time. Sometimes she's just plain stoopid to the point you wonder why on earth Eddie, the hero, puts up with her because I gotta tell ya, she's not worth it. I loved the story, the other characters, and everyone and everything else about this book, but Jet? NO. She could have been so much more but when people do stupid things due to excessive pride, lie when people have put their lives on the line for her, lie because she's afraid of involvement? NO. She does some pretty stupid things based on thinking she's not good enough but I think it is more she's one selfish chick who doesn't listen to anyone because she thinks she's always right.

OK. I'm done with her. I told you about her so you are forewarned that she lies a lot even when there is NO reason to lie. The rest of the story is good, well-written and typical Kristen Ashley: good drama and secondary characters. She is a great writer otherwise I wouldn't feel the grrr emotions I do for Jet. Do I like the book? Yes. But sometimes characters are just not right, just like human beings in real life, and you have to say "I just plain don't like you and for sure don't feel sorry for you - GROW UP!" and you wish you hadn't let them in your head space.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Still waiting on a worthy heroine..... 28 décembre 2011

Same premise as Rock Chick - wild and wacky fun with bad guys and guns. Hunkalicious hero Eddie, loveable side characters, stupid heroine Jet. The same act of stupidly in this story as with Rock Chick, Jet resists a relationship with Eddie to within the last few lines of the bk. I get Jet's shy, timid personality at first and she does blossom as the story moves along but I kept waiting for her to put the resistance aside and go for it with gusto. This series should definitely be named Stupid Chicks. I do like the hero's, and there are promises of some really good one here so I'm moving on to bk 3. I'm just sure there will be a redeeming heroine in this series. This book continues with the same loveable characters as the first one, but a few new ones are added. With so many good things going for it I'm for it it's a shame the heroine's are a dud. Have to say Indy didn't get on my nerves in this story like she did in the first book, so maybe by book 3 I will have warmed up to Jet. We'll see...
