5.0 étoiles sur 5 An extremely enjoyable journey through the greatest period of Rock and Roll 17 septembre 2012
Par Paul Krupin - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format:Relié
Whether the Rolling Stones played a major role in your musical upbringing or not, you'll no doubt enjoy this incredibly well done photo journey back in time. This 50 year anniversary special is a wonderful, even remarkable collection of superb quality photos taken over the years by twenty of the best photographers in the world. The book contains many of the most historic photos that have graced the pages of magazines and TV screens all over the world. This book explains the Rolling Stones phenomenon crisply, robustly and in great loving detail. Each photographers insights offer a perspective that adds new dimensions to the pictures, personalities, and lives revealed. You'll spend hours paging through the years slowly, savoring the amazing moments captured then and revealed to you again now, enjoying the diverse and fascinating characters, and the rich tapestry of living entertainment they gave to the world.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 80 photos both iconic and rare from 20 photographers - the typeface is annoying however. 12 novembre 2012
Par Steven I. Ramm - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format:Relié
One of the many products being published to commemorate the half-century career of the seminal rock band, The Rolling Stones, this large format, hardcover page book compiles both iconic photos (many used for album covers) from 20 well-known music-performance photographers. The 80 images included are primarily black-and-white (the majority of the color shots come near the end) but these are actually the ones that capture the band at their rawest. Arranged chronologically from 1962 through 2005, each photographer - or in the case of Eric Swayne (his son, Tom)- provides a short essay to accompany their section. There's also a two-page Foreword and an eight-page Afterward of text plus brief bios of the photographers. While the photos are great, and the print quality high, the Editor, Chris Murray, (or maybe it was the unnamed graphic designer) decided to use a newsprint-like font for the text and to increase the type size and use BOLD text every time the words "Rolling Stones" appears. This won't detract fans from buying this book but I, for one, found it annoying and distracting. Hence the four star rating.

You'll see all the band members here - both on stage and off - along with fellow entertainers like James Brown and Jimi Hendrix. And the book is 12x12 in size so it will fit right next to your RS Lps on your record shelf.

I hope you found this review both informative and helpful.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 "THE GREATEST ROCK & ROLL BAND OF ALL-TIME" ! 15 juin 2013
Par Jonnie King - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format:Relié
They've been called "The Greatest Rock & Roll Band of All-Time", and if you've ever seen 'em in-person, you'll probably agree with that statement. Seniority has its perks. From the 60's until the new Millenium their "rock" has never stopped ! SO, if you like the Stones, you'll love this book as it celebrates their Fifty Years of Rock & Roll !

Twenty of the best Stones photographers were chosen to share their pix...and, yes, they go chronologically from the 60's to the 2000's,and almost every photo that you see could be made into a Poster on its own merits. It's a massive, full-size, coffee-table-type hardcover, containing 144 pages in colour and b&w...and CHRIS MURRAY has done it perfectly.

Some of the twenty photographers include: Michael Joseph, Gus Coral, Mark Seliger, Eddie Kramer, Bob Gruen, and, Fernando Aceves. You see some of the most candid photos of the Stones ever shot. On-stage, off-stage, in rehearsal, in the studio, at play, at rest...well, you get the idea. Plus, many of the Stones and their friends are in there too. Jimi Hendrix, Andy Warhol, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, are included...but mostly, it's the Stones as you've never seen them before.

When I was Music Director at KAAY/Little Rock, Atlantic Records flew me into Nashville for the "Rolling Stones American Tour 1972" Concert, and,in 1997 at KHITS-96/St. Louis, we did a promotion for the Stones "Bridges Over Babylon" Tour, and I saw them for the second time. Twenty-Five years later, they were just as good, or better, than the first time !

This is a superb book, about a Legendary group, and if you want an intimate look into their entire career this is it, as it was produced to celebrate the Stones 50th Anniversary. It is a must for any Stones collector !

4.0 étoiles sur 5 TERRIFIC COLLECTION...WISH THERE WERE MORE PHOTOS 20 mars 2014

This is one classy Stones book with both classic and rare images. Just would have liked more of the same. Sadly missed the David Bailey shots & would have relished more from Gered Mankowitz' Mason's Yard series.
