I love this book!!! I found it in the new book section at my local library. I've owned a lot of tab and how to play guitar books but none of them have ever been this through or enjoyable.

This book carries a little of everything: tips on buying a guitar, questions to ask the salesman, differences between acoustic and electric, how to care for your instrument, stringing, exercises, genres of music, advanced techniques, explanations of gear: strings/amps/effects/guide to buying gear, what famous musicians play/use, how to create a band: starting/rehearsing/getting gigs/recording the band, recording studios/techniques, guitar history/famous players, chord diagrams, etc.

The Rough Guide to Guitar has made me play more and made it more enjoyable. This book is nice and thick with many color pictures and useful and interesting information that guitar player can put to use. There's a little of everything in this book. I keep skipping ahead and opening to random pages and end up reading the whole page because it's so interesting. There's much info on subjects that I wouldn't have thought much of or didn't know were more complicated than they look, such as how to connect your pedals the right way to get the best signal/sound and the true difference of tremolo and vibrato. I highly recommend this book to anyone with an interest in guitar. Even if you don't play it's still very interesting. I'm planning on buying this book in the future. It's just great and has so many helpful tips and is a real easy to read and understand book. The notation is written in sheet form and also number form which makes it very easy to grasp and use. Check if your library carries it! You won't be dissappointed! It covers a such a wide variety of subjects it's impossible to write down all the little parts that are in this book.

This is one of the best guitar books that I have ever read. Very simple language is used to illustrate the many components of the buying of your first guitar and also some intermediate material and advanced material. As I said earlier, it is one of the best guitar books I have ever read.

Thank you.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Awesome book, except for one fatal flaw.. 2 juin 2013

I would have given this book 5+ stars -- amazingly detailed and insightful, really well-written, full of information you could never pick up searching on the web -- except for one major issue: I bought it as an eBook and all of the exercises are tiny image files (non-scalable) that are impossible to read. This makes the book primary features nearly unusable. It's extremely frustrating!

Perhaps the publisher or author could put these online somewhere..
