Présentation de l'éditeur

The Amazon bestseller that launched the RUNES series introduced readers to RAINE and TORIN.

Seventeen-year-old Raine Cooper has enough on her plate dealing with her father’s disappearance, her mother’s erratic behavior and the possibility of her boyfriend relocating. The last thing she needs is Torin St. James—a mysterious new neighbor with a wicked smile and uncanny way of reading her.

Raine is drawn to Torin’s dark sexiness against her better judgment, until he saves her life with weird marks and she realizes he is different. But by healing her, Torin changes something inside Raine. Now she can’t stop thinking about him. Half the time, she’s not sure whether to fall into his arms or run.

Scared, she sets out to find out what Torin is. But the closer she gets to the truth the more she uncovers something sinister about him. What Torin is goes back to an ancient mythology and Raine is somehow part of it. Not only is she and her friends in danger, she must choose a side, but the wrong choice will cost Raine her life

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Fantastic book!! 11 juillet 2013

Raine's father disappeared and her mom acts strange all the time. That should be enough for one teen to handle but Raine gets thrown another curve in her life in the form of Torin. He moved in next door to her and she is drawn to him. When she gets injured her life gets changed when Torin heals her with some marks. Now she is out to figure out what he is and some of the other students. All the while fighting her feelings for Torin and trying to figure out what her best friend Eirik means to her. The more she digs up on Torin she discovers he has ties to Norse mythology. She also discovers she has ties to it as well. She will have to pick a side soon as she finds her self and her friends are in danger. She has to hope she picks the right side.

The characters are all fantastic. Raine keeps you guessing what she will do next and she shows great strength in all she has to face. Eirick is her best friend and knows her so well. Torin OMG how do you describe Torin. He has the whole sexy stranger with secrets thing going on. Every time he isn't in a scene you can't help but think were is he at lol. Besides these three there is several other characters to get to know. Some of them you will love to hate and some you will love.

When I started this book I did not want to put it down. Every page you read you get a little more insight into the world the author has created. You really get to see what the characters are like and get to know them. The story line is a refreshing one and different from other books. This has a lot of Norse Mythology in it and that was new to me. I love these kind of books. Yes it does have a love triangle thing but know worries when you read this book you see why it isn't a bad thing. It helps make the characters who they are. There is several scenes for those that like action. Raine is facing danger after all and she has to figure out who to trust. I would recommend this to anyone who wants something different to read or loves mythology. I can't wait for the next one.

The cover is wonderful. I love that you get to see the characters and the marks.

2.0 étoiles sur 5 Good story...just didn't "wow" me 2 août 2013

**I was given a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.**

So, I gotta say. This was a good just didn't "Wow" me. :(

This is definitely a fantasy book, filled with ancient Norse mythology, with some fun twists to your typical fantasy books. But the most different thing for me was that the fantasy aspects of the story were almost buried in the book, understated to an overall romance/love triangle. Ugh.

Raine Cooper is our MC and narrator. She is a swim team star with her best friend and sort-of unofficial boyfriend, Eirick. She has been pinning after Eirik for as long as she can remember. They are best friends, have sleepovers (strictly platonic) all the time, and they know everything about each other.

But just when her relationship with Eirick is beginning to become more, a hot mysterious guy moves into the empty house next door. Torin is hot, unbelievably so. And he seems to know Eirick somehow and comes to Raine's house to look for him. Although originally Raine writes him off as just another jerk blessed with criminal good looks, when he begins to show even a little bit of interest in her, she falls for him!

What really got me going though is the fact that even though she was falling for Torin, she strung Eirick around for the entire time!! It was completely unfair how she treated him and in several places actually flaunted her growing relationship with Torin in his face. Now I know that they weren't even actually together, but come on! She should have made her choice and stuck with it.

Even though I was mad at Torin for being such a jerk in the beginning, he began to grow on me. I'm just such a sucker for bad boys. He is rough around the edges and oh so snotty, but underneath all that you just feel like there is more to him. Something good about him that will be worth finding. Torin also has a secret (and herein lies the fantasy aspect of this story).

So while I was expecting a fantasy instead I got a romance book with a fantasy twist. And in the realm of romances...well, it could have been better.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review on Netgalley.

Wow! I've got to start by saying that it takes something original and excellent to surprise me, and this book did just that! I found myself about 75% of the way through the book with my mouth hanging open. That pretty much didn't stop until I was finished. I also blew through this book in less than 2 days because I just couldn't put the darn thing down! This was a fun and addictive YA paranormal romance that completely had me sucked in from the first chapter until the end.

Let's start from the beginning: Torin. What a great character! He and Raine have such sizzling chemistry that even without the smut their interactions got my pulse racing. I'm a sucker for a dark and dangerous bad boy love interest, and Torin gives us that from the first time we're introduced. We get a few little glimpses into his past and what drives him, but I could tell this will be something that drives the rest of the books in this series (please tell me there will be many more books in this series!). As an avid paranormal romance reader, I usually figure out the mystery of what the paranormal is way before the character (usually female lead) does. This book, however, totally blew my mind! Maybe it's because I'm not very knowledgeable about this particular group of paranormals, but it felt so refreshing to be genuinely in the same boat as the main character. I could completely relate to Raine's reactions and motivations which made me feel for her even more. The only complaint I would have about her is how she deals with the inevitable love triangle, but even that is a minor complaint.

I'm dying to know more about Eirik and all of Torin's "pals" as well as more about their paranormal "powers." This book really gave you a taste of what they were about, without driving me crazy with secrets and questions. I'm eager to read the next book in the series, but not angry about how it ended. Yes, it did end in a cliffhanger, but as someone who has endured much worse and more horrible cliffhanger endings, this wasn't that bad. How did you expect it to end? A series can't sustain itself with one main character if the book ends with flowers, roses, and happily ever after's. I like the conflict and trials, so long as they don't drive me insane with worry for the main characters. I'm sure it will be great fun to watch them face these challenges head on.

So, to summarize - read this book! It is a great start to a new and original YA paranormal romance series that will hopefully have many installments coming our way.

Runes was a quick, fun, easy read. I found the use of Norse mythology really interesting and unique. I hadn't come across it in a YA book before and it was fun to see how it was weaved into the storyline. I did find it difficult to get into the story, until the Norse theme was revealed I was a bit confused as to what was going on. Once the storyline became clear I really enjoyed how things unfolded.

My favourite character was Cora, she seemed the most real and down to earth person in the book and had a great snarky attitude that I loved. The main character of Raine interested me at first but as the story went along she did irritate me as she went from being a normal teen who was pretty unremarkable to suddenly always being desired and described as ethereally beautiful and otherwordly.

There is a love triangle which I didn't really enjoy due to Raine's indecision and lack of respect for her boyfriend's feeling but I enjoyed her relationships with both boys on their own.

There is a lot of mystery to figure out and I enjoyed how the book unfolded however I didn't understand how Raine's father could disappear in a major plane crash and nobody in town would know about it.

The book ends on a cliff hanger which will make readers be squealing to get their hands on the next book to see what happens next. I'd recommend this book to readers who enjoy paranormal romance.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 HOLY RUNES!! 11 mai 2013
Par Wacky.Wild.Bee - Publié sur
Holy Runes! Where do I start? Well maybe I should start off with the best part of the book and those of you who have gotten a chance to read would all agree that the best part is Torin. Torin is Raine's very sexy new neighbor. He push all her buttons and she feel at time that she hates him but at the same time is drawn to him. She cant seem to stay away from him ( and I'm not complaining that she can't.) He seems to have all the answers but yet she is stubborn and wont seek the answers.

Runes is about Norse mythology instead the normal Greek mythology so many write about. The way Ednah wrote the characters and mythological story-line kept me wanting more, It was a page turner. I especially love any and all scenes with Torin. I love the cute nickname he gives Raine. I love how sexy he is on his motorcycle. I most definitely LOVE the way he treats Raine. He says the most sweetest things to her.

Throughout the story there were a few typo's and missing word in ARC book I have but it didn't ruin it for me( By the time Runes is out they probably will be fixed). No Siree! I enjoyed Runes front to back. I only wish now I could have Immortals ( which is the 2nd book- but there is no release date up yet.)

Anyways back to Torin...*cough* I mean to Runes. The story-line had a lot of friendship, loyalty, love, and even some evil dudes. Mix that all together and you have one AWESOME book! Runes story-line flow well together and didn't leave me confuse. The ending of this book is a cliff hanger and it is driving me nuts! I loved the ending but I also hated it.(hate in a good that I mean it was a really good ending but now i'm suffering having to wait for book two but it will be well worth the wait.

I would recommend this book to teen and adults who like YA (romance, mythological stories)I give this story 5 Stars( and if I knew how to post the cool little stars I would.)

A Few Favorite Quotes
"My Face is up here, freckles." ~ Torin

"You're welcome." he said. "Bite me." I hurried away, hating the sticky, wet blood on my skin. ~ Torin & Raine
