Présentation de l'éditeur

Jane tells her story from her perspective
as a teen prodigy who takes her chances
in the “Big Apple.” She is on the scene,
and in no time she’s runnin’ with the big
dogs, the finest Jazz musicians New
York had to offer.
This is an inside view of the smokey
night clubs, the real skinny on the
relationships and interactions between
the cats.
Runnin’ With The Big Dogs is a portrayal
of the Jazz scene in the mid 60s to the
early 70s.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A no holes barred personal perspective of the 1960s jazz scene from a woman that lived it as a teen prodigy. 20 juillet 2014
Par Paul Croteau - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format:Format Kindle|Achat vérifié
Imagine what it would be like to skip out of high school, travel alone cross country to New York and chase your musical dream? Now imagine doing this in the mid-1960s, one of the most explosive and interesting time periods in our American musical history, a time when cats like Jimi Hendrix, Charles Mingus and Stan Getz were heavies on the scene. Now imagine playing with this cats as a teen prodigy. The author doesn't have to imagine a thing, she just has to remember, because that's the life she lived. She literally ran with the big dogs.

This work is a brief but richly entertaining telling of her adventure, full of vivid imagery, insider perspectives and straight talk from a strong-willed, young, petite white woman powering her way through the turbulent, chaotic and frankly crazy music world of the 1960s jazz and rock movements. Brutally honest and introspective, Jane's writing, like her music, will make you want more. She holds nothing back, unabashedly shining a light on a few skeletons from the dark closets of the jazz world. I can't wait to learn about the next chapters in her life.

The best jazz tell all I have ever read...Which major misician was obsessed with boobs, which one had all night hooker parties while stoned out on drugs, which kazz drummer she had a mad crush on, an unfortunate rape attempt and how she had to talk down a fellow musician on taking revenge..It's all here folks...Which major musician mentored her and taught her to comp..

Par Stuart Goldman - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format:Format Kindle
When Jane asked me to write the intro to hew new book, I had to take pause. I knew Jane was a a great musician, but I had no idea whether she could write or not. Jane was insistent. "I have a story, and I need to tell it," she told me. So I told her to go ahead. For the next month, she locked herself in her bedroom and banged away on her ancient MacIntosh. When she came out with the manuscript, frankly I expected the worst. However, to my delight, Jane turned out to be not just a great writer—who knew who to tell a story (something many writers don't now how to do— but in fact, she'd turned out a masterpiece. I read the book straight through without stopping. She had me hooked from the first sentence.

I did what what amounted to only a minor edit on the book and handed it back to her. "Now go get it published," I said, walking away.

Now she's done that.

I'm not going to say much about Jane's new book, except that she has the chops of a seasoned writee. II promisw it'll keep you hooked from the getgo, just as it did me. If I could compare Jane's writing style with anybody, it would be with John Fante. If you don't know who Fante is, then you need to read him too.

I predict big things for Jane's book, and I'm proud to say I had a hand in it. She returned the favor later, by writing the intro to my new book, "Adventures In Manic Depression."

Thanks, Jane.
You didn't disappoint me.
Now I'm just waiting for you to do some live readings at bookstores around the world, because you've told a very personal, yet universal story.
