Ethernet is mentioned in the first lesson. Of all the network technologies that you are likely to meet, it may be the most common. The main variants of Ethernet are given, up to Gigabit Ethernet. The latter will seem staggeringly fast to those who first used Ethernet in the 80s.
Other technologies like FDDI [fiber] and token ring are also explained. My personal take is that token ring seems to be fading, but you might still be tested on it in the exam.
Potentially, the labs in the DVD can be a good hands on learning experience. You can and should avail yourself of the analysis GUI. You can see a mass of details by drilling down. At first, all that data can seem overwhelming. But you need to get familiar with at least the overall framework of the messages used in the protocols. Luckily, analysis tools like those on the DVD handle the low level parsing of the messages, which lets you understand [hopefully!] the meaning of the message headers, instead of spending tedious time going bit by bit through a header. Which is what some earlier generations of sysadmins had to suffer, if they lacked protocol analysers as powerful as the one you have here.
This is a good, quick way to get an introduction to SSCP. In an afternoon you will be exposed to a lot of information and have a basic understanding that serve as a foundation for further study. To better your chances on passing the test I'd recommend using this DVD and then studying at least one other book. That way you'll have two approaches to the material, perhaps one will make more sense than the other.
