Bringing The Gospel Of Jesus To America's Youth 31 décembre 2004
Par Bill - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
Deicide are the greatest christian band since P.O.D. Just look at the cover of this album, there's a picture of Jesus. So many christians are afraid to show their faith that blatantly, Deicide should be commended for taking a stand for their faith. Musically it's all acoustic ballads focusing on the love of christ and following God. Glen Benton has a soulfull R & B tenor that will bring you to tears. Scars Of The Crucifix is my favorite song of this album, which is about how Jesus healed Glen when he fell and hit his head on a cross in church, and also features special guest vocalist R. Kelly. This will be the next big thing in the christian music scene. Youthgroups, pastors and congregations already gather in hordes outside of their concerts. In Jesus name, amen.

when you think they couldnt CROSS any more lines....they do 27 février 2004

if ur a deicide fan, u probably didnt expect this album to be so....well greater than anything they have ever done before. the already highly technical drums and guitar riffs are now even more unpredictable and speedy. a slightly new songwriting method perhaps for the satanic ones. glen, especially in the opening track, has gone even more insane with the shredded throat vocals, ranging from a mighty growl to a demon like screech. if u like deicide, please, this is a must, i dont see this album being topped anytime this year. its just too good, a half hour of soil ur pants death metal, the way it should be. death metal is alive and WELL!!

not into the heavy?step aside! 1 mai 2004
Par Trottin'-Butterz - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
first off I agree with everyone on here-the album is one of Deicide's top three in my opinion!everything is great on it and proves that some folks are still willing to go that extra mile to record an album of unflinchingly raw power(that doesn't involve asking the question"but what will the slipkot fans think?will THEY buy it?)."Mr. Houston"is right on the $-people who enjoy the lackluster sounds of "the knot",damageplan, hatebreed, coldplay, rob zombie, and on and on will probably make the "just smelled a white castle fart"face when they hear scars of the crucifix,so they may be more comfortable sticking with the bands that you parents can get into.and needless to say,if anyone reading this is in fact a Christian(and there's absolutely NOTHING wrong with that!)you may be offended just a little by the lyrical content as a whole-not to mention the fact that I've never met a true Christian who listens to death metal and doesn't feel as though they've committed as sin by doing so.with that said, read 99% of the other reviews and make the wise choice to purchase this album of raw blasphemies and always remember-"for those about to rock,GB salutes you"!

Accept The Scars Of The Crucifix 28 novembre 2004
Par Ronald Placeres - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
This is one of my favorite Deicide albums. I brought it back in the Spring of 2004 along with Cannibal Corpse's The Wretched Spawn (Censored Version) and the re-issue of Disincarnate's Dreams Of The Carrion Kind. Now there are many versions of this album. The version that I have is the limited edition CD with DVD and this is the one that I will review. Starting with the CD or album iself and than the DVD.

First the CD or album itself. With this album, it is a change of direction for the band from a carreer, personal and creative perpective. First, this is their first album on Earache Records which is home for bands like Hate Eternal, Akerocke and Decapitated as well as classic bands like Morbid Angel, Entombed, Carcass, Napalm Death, Nocturnus and Terrorizer. Secondly, the band has oppertunities that they didn't have with their former labal Roadrunner Records like for example, making a video. The video that the band made is for the titled track.

As for the album itself, it's a return to the old school stuff and it's clearly evident if you're an old school Deicide fan listening to this album for the first time. Here is a rundown. The production and sound are almost like Serpents Of The Light combined with Legion and Once Upon The Cross. As a matter of fact, you can hear traces of those particular albums echoing throughout many of the songs on the album. For example, on the song Go Now Your Lord Is Dead. At the end of the second chorus which goes into a solo attack, you can hear some haunting passage in the background that's very remenissing of the one during the solo attack at the end of Behead The Prophet (No Lord Shell Live) from Legion. You can find evidences like these throughout the album. The music itself is still brutal, heavy and as evil as ever. You still have those old hight, low and conbined demonic vocals, pounding bass, killer riffs, lacerating solos and blast beats. You'll also hear of all things, some piano playing. That's right. Piano playing but only at the end of the song The Pentecostal. That could be a sign of some things to come. The lyrics however are still Anti-Christian, anti-religion and satanic. Some of the subject rage from blasphemy, anger toward God, pedophile priests in the Catholic church, burning the heavens and disrepecting Pentecostals. So this is pretty much old school Deicide but new and improved. Some of the favorite songs here are Scars Of The Crucifix, Mad At God, Conquered By Sodom, From Darkness Come, When Heaven Burns, Go Now Your Lord Is Dead and The Pentecostal. Listen to this album and bear the scars of the crucifix.

Now for the DVD. The DVD is called Behind The Scars - Under The Skin Of Deicide. It is pretty much a look at the band as real people rather than just faces on an album cover or magazine. For me, this is something very important because I have all the albums and read a lot of the inteviews but I've never seen the band as actual people. So this is my first oppertunity and I am very thankful for it. As for the stuff on this DVD, it's basically a look at the past, present, future and personal lives of the band members and the band as a whole. Some of the things you'll see here are interviws with the band members, Glen in and outside the studio at Morrisound and riding his hearly, Steve at his home and at a shooting gallery, the Hoffman Brothers at a hotel, Brain's tatoos and much more. So all in all, this a madatory purchase package especially for all the die-hard Deicide fans like myself. So buy the edition with the DVD immediately because they are limited. Don't miss out.

Deicide returns. 25 mai 2005
Par Armando L. Martinez III - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
After a long hiatus and two hopelessly horrible albums (Insineratehymn and In Torment In Hell), they've finally got their acts together and deliver a decent release. They're impressive to see live, which is why it sucks that the band fell apart. The album sounds around the lines of Serpents Of The Light and the self-titled in my opinion. The reason this gets a 4 is because some songs on here were really awesome, yet there were about two tracks that were totally mediocre, and Glen's lyrics were completely redundant (re-hashed ideas from previous recordings at best). Seriously, how many albums can you release singing the same topic over and over? While all religions are mythology (layman's terms: myths, which also translate into B.S.), there are other evils in the world besides evangelists. Try attacking something else.
