Biographie de l'auteur

Derek the Ghost is an eleven-year-old ghost who haunts the classrooms and hallways of Scary School writing down all the spine-tingling, often hilarious things that go on there. He is the author of Scary School and Scary School #2: Monsters on the March. Despite his ghostly state, Derek still enjoys reading comic books and hopes to one day become a master ninja. If that doesn't work out, he will continue to share the fun of this very special, very secret school, so all kids can experience the scariest school on earth.



Scott M. Fischer has illustrated many books, including the New York Times bestselling Peter Pan in Scarlet, Jump!, Animals Anonymous, and the Secrets of Dripping Fang series. Scott graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design. He lives in western Massachusetts with his wife, daughter, dog, cat, goldfish, and a cockatoo named Fred.

What a fun book- Derek the Ghost uses a fun story with awesome characters to give a great moral and very entertaining read! This series is a treasure in the making!

I must say that when I first heard of Scary School, I assumed it would be a very interesting and really cool place to go. It is bad to assume. This is where you send your children if they are so terribly horrible that you are bald from pulling out your hair. Don't be surprised if they never make it back home. I can't even begin to fathom what goes down on the school bus.
Derek the Ghost is the tour guide throughout your journey inside of Scary School. To answer the question, yes he died at the school. That's how bad it can be. With characters so bizarre and imaginative, you'll be entertained the whole way through. I couldn't help but be creeped out by Mr. Spider Eyes. In the end, he gets to be a treat himself! Then we have Nurse Hairymoles. I'm not so sure it's a good thing to go to the nurse when she treats your ailments and gives you another issue entirely in return. Job security! I mustn't forget to mention the principal. I think her name tells enough about her. Principal Headcrusher. Enough said right?! You'll be flying through the pages, and the halls of Scary School, meeting many unusual creatures. A most entertaining read!

We loved this book - it is hilarious and completely appropriate for elementary and middle school aged kids. I even loved it as an adult. It's not "scary" but super funny. There are creepy events and most of the teachers eat students, but it's all told in a humorous way. I would definitely recommend this to anyone with kids (but especially anyone with boys).
