This motley collection of " secret" gems is better fitted for a sunday paper' s travelsection when no sponsored interesting trips are available.

Quelques bonnes idées ou adresses en Europe. Le guide n'est pas très détaillé mais donne envie d'aller voir plus loin.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Best of the Free Lonely Planet European Kindle Books 1 août 2014

The first thing you notice about this one compared to the other free Kindle European books by Lonely Planet is that whoever wrote this one actually realises that Europe consists of countries east of Germany, Italy etc. How the others got published with out-dated maps from before 1989 is beyond me.

As someone who has extensively backpacked Europe I have to say a lot of these aren't really "a secret" once you're each country there's plenty of information encouraging you to visit the places in this book, and they are also in the bigger guides by this publisher and others. But I will say that a lot of people on a quick trip through some of these countries don't go to these places, so it's good to have a book like this to encourage people to go beyond the major city of each country.

Unlike the other free Lonely Planet Europe books, this one is presented quite well, it actually resembles magazine pages in its look on the screen. It still doesn't have a great deal of information on each page and does the "Start planning your trip with Lonely Planet Spain 9th Edition" or whatever the appropriate guide is thing, but it comes across as less of a that's the whole point than the other guides do. It does also have very clear photographs however they probably could have made better choices, such as it suggest Burg Satvey near Bonn but doesn't show a picture of the castle, instead just some medieval looking tents that were obviously there during a festival that was there when the photographer was.

There also is unfortunately the odd obviously paid entry such as one of the fifty experiences is a "hidden hotel in Paris", but Lonely Planet is fairly known for this sort of thing unfortunately. This sort of thing does bring the overall rating down unfortunately as there's plenty of free destinations to see that are off the beaten track so to speak in Europe that should have been there instead.

50 experiences yes, but a number of these only make sense if you are visiting the area anyway. One example: a great street with bars and clubs, good if you are in the city anyway but not something to base a visit to the city on, to me at least. Other ideas are good enough for a visit, so 4 stars.

I thought this was a fun book. The front of the book has a convenient map showing all 50 of the secret spots. They span a wide variety of countries. For each spot, there is a brief description of why you should check it out.

Nicely done, easy to read, nice pictures, clear.

√ What time's my flight? Recommend!

I bought Secret Europe for my Kindle. Guess what - it's not a normal book & I can't read it cause the print is too small & it can't be made larger because why? I don't know all my other kindle books the print enlarges. Don't waste your money
