5.0 étoiles sur 5 You Need This Book!! 15 janvier 2014

As a perfectionist and someone who has started various businesses, not always succeeding, I found this concept hard to digest at first. I am very happy to say that after reading this book I really felt that I could relax a little. I always plagued myself with the small details and always managed to find obstacles rather than signs of success. This book really has lifted the lid of limitation for me; I feel that I can go ahead with plans AND still have a life. I no longer have to worry about failing because I know I would have still learned something from it. This incredibly original book will see you though your start-up failure; preparing you for your next success! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the comic style images that I could easily relate to. I highly recommend this! Start failing today. *****

I've read hundreds of business books over the years by everyone from Josh Kaufman to Tim Ferris but I was still incredibly impressed by Sonia Lin's 'Secret to Startup Failure' in both its originality and humour. Even more crucially, as is sadly rarely the case with many books I've read in the past, the humour didn't detract from the overall message. The text is broken down into easy to read chunks, and the chapters are punctuated with frequent amusing cartoons and images which makes it a very easy read. A book about business often will sound off-putting to many new entrepreneurs, but I think that Sonia has managed to create the perfect blend between more serious content as well as the humorous. I'm in the process of starting a company myself so I found the chapter on Co-Authorship particularly helpful, and the jokes certainly made for an enjoyable read! The tip box containing website links and referencing is also really great, so if you're in need of a quick solution then they are certainly recommended reading. Overall I recommend the book to anyone whether you're already running a business or just thinking about getting started. Personally I think it's more helpful however if you're in the pre-start stage as it helps dispel many of the myths surrounding the start-up world and life as an entrepreneur.

This book covers the other side of startups that most literature doesn’t say anything about. It’s these small things that make or break a startup, not just product / market fit that kinda stuff.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A Wonderful Resource for Entrepreneurs 16 janvier 2014

I have to say that "Secret to Startup Failure: Fail Fast. Fail Cheap. Fail Happy" turned out to be a wonderful resource and inspiration for me. I started out reading this with the idea that it would help me learn better ways of avoiding failure in my business career, and while it did that it actually ended up being a great way for me to embrace failure and learn from it one step at a time the way Ms. Lin did. As a business woman I have found failure and successes in my career in countless ways, but until I read this I always believed that failure was, well, failure. However, the author helped me to get a clear picture of the ways in which failure can help me achieve the goals I am reaching towards, and then she helped me to also learn the secrets in how to avoid critical failure as well.

As a reader this helpful book was equal parts a resource for the future and an inspirational way to learn the mantra that failure is just life's way of telling you to try harder. Using a unique sense of humor and a light, casual tone the author really makes this read fun and educational from beginning to end.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 If at first you don't succeed, fail, fail again. 16 janvier 2014

Its a fact that the vast majority of start-up companies fail. Most successful companies are founded by people who have failed at several attempts.

This book teaches you how organize your business so that if it doesn't succeed you will minimize your exposure to risk and help you to understand what lessons you can learn from your failures. Learning these lessons will set you up to be better able to brush yourself off and start over.

The book is well written and contains a large amount of excellent advice. It is also entertaining to read and rather humorous, so you can learn and enjoy yourself while you do it.
