5.0 étoiles sur 5 I want more! 26 octobre 2012
Format:Format Kindle
What a great debut novel! Gina L. Maxwell really knows how to write great fiction. This is her first book in her series Fighting for Love about MMA Fighters, rules of entanglement, book two, should be out during winter 2012... and I am really expecting it.

But first things first:

Ried Andrews is hurt and needs to get healthy as fast as possible in order to get back in the cage and win his title back. His only hope is PT Lucie Miller.
When he discovers that she is his best friend's sister an all grown up woman beautiful but full of self-doubts and that she is crying because the man she thinks to be perfect for her does not even see her he offers her a bargain: she takes care only of his recovery and he teaches her how to get the man she wants.
But soon their attraction becomes irresistible and both have a now fight to win, against one selves for each other.

Oh how great this book is! In only 155 pages the author creates a steaming hot sweet story. I always preferred longer books but here I got the proof that a story does not need to be long to be intense.
The characters she draws in on her pages are mature, responsible, human, realistic persons. Their friends have a nice presence. The sex scenes are amazingly hot and tender. Ried is a dream come true (or rather come to fiction). He is strong and fun, intelligent and sweet. Lucie is intelligent, independent but very hurt and unsecure but due to a reason, courageous and very smart. She blooms under the words and hands of Ried.
Both characters are very modern and real, a real pleasure to live with, during the read.

The story flows greatly; I never had the feeling of length, only at the end I was a bit disappointed that it finished somehow to fast.

I really recommend this book and can't wait for the next one.

Enjoy the read MBTM

Maybe it's a matter of taste, but I'm bored throughout the book.
The female character is silly and has the maturity of a virgin teenager and the male caracter...he's supposed to be an alpha man yet he behaves and speaks like gay friend that all women dream of having !
I don't think Gina Maxwell has ever set a foot in a gym battle club, personnally I have never met a man in a sport fighting high-level interest in women's fashion, shopping and makeup !!! Not even I have never seen a top athlete drinking whiskey or beer, but maybe the French champions are different from the US...

But the worst part of this novel is that it is so common that you can guess each scene before it surprises, no creativity...

No, really, I found it deeply annoying

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A veteran novel from a debut author. 22 juillet 2012

Gina L. Maxwell's debut novel, Seducing Cinderella, is sweet, sexy, funny, and straight up fantastic. This book does everything right; character development, pacing, dialogue, conflict resolution. From the start of the first chapter, I was immersed in the book and already attached to Lucie and Reid, our H/H. Lucie is a believable 29 year old woman, a mixture of professional competence and some personal heartache and insecurities. And Reid, while an alpha MMA champion, is also a caring man who doesn't want his broken childhood to define him. Reid and Lucie's older brother were best friends growing up so they already have a history and Reid sincerely likes Lucie for who she is. Lucie is a physical therapist who agrees to help Reid rehab from an injury he incurred while training for his next match. In return, Reid will help Lucie finally catch the eye of the perfect doctor she has had a crush on for years by teaching her how to seduce a man. Instead, he finds himself seducing his Cinderella.

What I found incredibly refreshing was that although Reid initially questioned the wisdom of getting involved sexually with his friend's younger sister, he quickly treated Lucie as the mature adult she was and let her decide if she wanted to make love with him. No scenes of brother rushing in suggesting that because she had sex, his sister was somehow sullied. Kudos to the author for writing a romance with characters that reflect the current state of relationships in the year 2012!

And speaking of sex, this book was deliciously steamy. Very hot, very sexy, very intimate. Lucie and Reid set each other on fire. Even a thunderstorm can't put out the flames!

So if you like sexy contemporaries with appealing characters who undergo emotional growth and reading about a relationship that deepens into intimacy and love, you will love this book. As I suggested at the start of my review, it's hard to believe this author hasn't been publishing for years and that this is indeed her debut. I look forward to many more books from her and can wholeheartedly recommend this book.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Fabulous new author! 22 juillet 2012

Seducing Cinderella is the first in a series of contemporary romance novels revolving around MMA fighters, and the debut of Gina L. Maxwell, author. And what a debut it is!

This story is about an injured MMA fighter, Reid Andrews, who needs to be rehabilitated so that he can fight and win his championship title back in two months time. He enlists the help of physical therapist, Lucie Miller, who unbeknownst to him at the time is his best friend's little sister. The two make a deal where Lucie will take Reid on as a patient for two months so that he'll be ready for his fight, while Reid will train Lucie in the art of seduction so that she can win the affection of the doctor she has been lusting after. While upholding their respective ends of the bargain, the two are powerfully attracted to one another. They agree to act on their attraction for the duration of the time they will be working together and once that time is up, they each will go their separate ways. Of course, things don't quite go as planned.

Ms. Maxwell does a great job at writing the Cinderella story we all know and love in a refreshing and believable way. Lucie was written realistically as a strong, successful woman with real insecurities that most women will be able to relate to. Reid was not only sinfully sexy and very alpha, but also sensitive and compassionate. I adored him! The chemistry between Lucie and Reid was explosive and the love scenes were smoking hot! I alternately laughed and cried while reading this book and ultimately finished it with a smile on my face.

I am truly looking forward to reading the future books in this series. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a sweet, sexy and fun read. You will not be disappointed!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Sexiest Book I've Read All Year 21 juillet 2012

To say that I was waiting eagerly for SEDUCING CINDERELLA would be a hilarious understatement. I was actually kinda worried...could a book that I've wanted to read for so long, that teased me with the most amazing snippets for months on Facebook, possibly live up to my expectations? Um, hell yes. It can, it did, and it surpassed it.

Lucie is every woman I know. She's sweet and funny. She's beautiful but can't see it in herself. She's endearing. She has an amazing and hilarious best friend. She's pining for the wrong guy...and she's been crushing on Mr. Forbidden for years. Yeah, I related to this chick.

And Reid? Holy Moly, this man does it for me. He is hotter than hell and knows it. But Gina doesn't stop there with her leading man, oh no. She also gives him a hidden sweet side that totally melted my heart. And when you pair the rough, edgy fighter, with the sweet, soulful artist--COMBUSTIBLE people.

So yeah, you must read this. Like now. Seriously, right now. You won't regret it =)

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Entertaining & steamy, with one small flaw 7 août 2012

I really wish there was a 3 1/2 star option. This wasn't quite three, but not quite four either.

First off, I loved the premise of the book. The arrangement between Reid and Lucie is believable with high possibilities of both humor and (perhaps unintended) seduction. So point in the "good" column there.

Second, Reid is, well, sexy as hell. I'm not usually into guys with tats, but somehow the picture of an MMA fighter, with the cropped faux-hawk hair, hazel eyes, and swirly tattoo was pretty intriguing. I had no problem visualizing this guy. Another point in the "good" column.

I really liked Lucie, and I thought her character, with all her insecurities, was well drawn. Having been that girl and having known a few of them, I related to her and really wanted her to "win," whatever that turned out to be. Another point.

Here's what pushes the book to 3 instead of 4 stars for me: As well drawn as Lucie was, Reid seemed a shade "thin" to me. I mean, his affection for Lucie and his issues with his father, Stan, kept him from drifting across the "obnoxiously alpha" line, which is good. But I think there could have been even more. What about more about his artistic talents and how that drove a wedge between him and his father? For a lot of the book, Reid is just a friend of Lucie's brother, her teen crush, and an MMA fighter, but he could have been more. I think the final scene between Reid and Stan was well done. I'd have liked to see Reid tussle with his feelings for his father, his absent mother, and his art a little bit. And maybe just a shade more of how he worked through his feelings for Lucie. I was pretty confident the end point he'd arrive at, which he did, but missed a little of the build up.

Overall though, it was a $2.99 well spent and I read most of it during a 3-hour car ride. I would buy another from this author.
