This is a very useful guide for a select audience. For those of a hedonistic nature, heading off to Paris in pursuit of pleasure of a non touristy nature, this is the book for you.
The chapters are detailed above, so I will not go through them in detail, suffice to say that if your interests are in the sensual side of Paris, then everything you need is in this book. The clubs and how to get in them, the lingerie shops, the discrete hotels. What to wear and how to act, it's all been researched and it is all in here. Whatever your flavour of sensual fun, it is covered in sufficient detail for you to know where to go, what to wear and what to say. Useful stuff if you are in a confusing city.
The cover makes this look like part of a well know tourist guide series, but this is no rip off, it does appear to be properly researched and to cover all the bases for the hedonistic trip or lifestyle. Slightly padded at times, but the padding provides some useful phrases and a bit of background into such things as the Marquis de Sade and a bit of French sexual history.
So recommended for its intended audience, an easy four star. Having said that, the audience is very specific and if you want this as a family or basic tourist guide, then you need to avoid it - this is the wrong book for you.
In the spirit of being open, I should say that this review is based on a copy provided for reviewing purposes, but the opinions above are genuine and based on having read the book.
