Présentation de l'éditeur

"Be yourself, everyone else is already taken"

Prepare yourself, fellow human:
You are about to read a book unlike most. Some may call it a self help, others, dear friend, will not.
If you are a fan of life, or a student of life, or a seasoned and satirical observer of life, or society--I welcome you.

And to all unwitting others, who are now reading this satirical product description by no intention of their own, I welcome you too...

And I warn you.

The shit I will soon spew is shit that comes from a frothy brew. My heart, and my brain (and my soul, which is currently on lease). Shit Ain't Perfect will take you places between spaces in the deep recesses of your mind. It will plunge you into the shit stained cesspool society has spawned--with no life vest in sight. It will ask you to be truthful, even if that truth fools you. It will even deliver you some nuggets of pure life wisdom, under the false pretense of a meaningful life guide. But, alas, it is a guide (of sorts), and it is a self help (at times), and if you take the time to read the writing on the wall, you'll realize: shit ain't perfect

(And neither am I, so don't sue me)

But I digress. Speaking of shit, sometimes life is much the same. As much as we try to act how society wants us, sometimes, it's better just to follow our own path. To mark our territory the only way we know how... with a smile and a squat.

Don't know what I mean? Read on and find out. Just be sure to secure your diaper and shit-proof the plunger. Cuz we're peeeeeling away layers, baby...

Inside the poorly designed cover of this unconventional guide to life, we will cover everything. Things that society ignores, or hides, or sweeps beneath the rug with fancy political speeches, pleasant photo ops, and carefully crafted narratives. We'll deconstruct unconventional shit and uncover life lessons, all the while serving as our own guides to society's satirical underbelly. We'll even discuss important things like life, death, depression, war, drugs, disorders, schools, government, and porn (yes, with naked people).

Of course, by this point, you're probably wondering why you should listen to me about anything. Well, that's a great question, and I thank you for letting me ask it. The answer, of course, is I have no freakin idea. Now shut up

"Shit Ain't Perfect: A Satirical Self Help for Living People" includes:

** Men, Women, and Sex Life

** Stress Management and Building Self-Confidence

** Racism, Sexism, Sizism, Colorism, and General 'Haters'

** Psychological testing and assessment (informally)
-- personality types and disorders
-- depression and suicide
-- psychopathy and narcissism
-- those morons who cut you off in traffic

** Parenting and Child-rearing (ie; "kids on a leash")

** Early, Intermediate, and Advanced Education (e=mc^2)

** The Current Job Market (mostly blank pages)

** Drugs and Drug-related Disorders (don't remember writing this part)

** Why It's Okay to Hate Your Neighbors
(and virtually everybody you ever meet)

I read this because it seemed interesting. Having read it, I'm still not even sure what I read. But maybe that's the beauty of SAP.

It definitely seems like satire, but there are also elements of dark insecurity and sometimes a conspicuous lack of concern for what *most* people would think.
I gave it 5 stars because it's just that different. I dunno. I think it's a book that many people could afford to read, but that few will. I also think the author is one hilarious and crazy person!

While I definitely feel comfortable saying that this book is not going to appeal to everyone, it did have some excellent writing and some interesting points. When you read this be prepared for honesty. The author does not hold back his opinion of much of anything, although he does offer warnings for what is about to come. Although this was certainly not my usual fare as far as reading goes, it was entertaining and I am glad I had the chance to read it.

There is quite a lot of humour in this book and there are times when you just can't help but nod your head in agreement with the author. If you are looking for something different to make you stop and think about...well...basically anything and everything under the sun, this will do nicely. I particularly enjoyed the portions of the book where the author described women. :) He seems to have a good personality that conveys well in his writing.

This isn't a self-help book, although in many areas it seems the author is trying to school you in the ways of life. The candor is very unorthodox and highly sarcastic in points. If you aren't use to that type of style, this won't be your cup of tea.

This is the type of book that shakes things up a bit. More than a bit--a whole lot!

Even in moments when the author shucks and jives, quite a few of his viewpoints are relevant in the current world:

1. Educated people unable to get entry level jobs (overqualified)--one of my favorite sections of the write
2. Different types of drivers
3. Different types of people
4. The bleak landscape of current high school and college graduates
5. The hype of Hollywood
6. Religion (hypocrisy)

There's so much more but those are the major ones that stuck out.

I floated between moments of shock, thinking "I can't believe he said that" and holding my sides in laughter. This book was unashamed in delivery and candor, causing my brain and my funny bone maximum stimulation.

The conversational type air was refreshing and the dictionary towards the end for some of the funny jargon used was very helpful.

The only drawback is that the author didn't make this a series of sorts, since so many topics were covered in one setting.

For its out the box style and many gems of truthful reflection, this will be a mainstay in my Kindle. I also recommend this for fans of satire and the wildly unconventional.

Loved it! Normally I don't read satire, but this book was hilarious, thought-provoking, and boldly truthful all at once. Not to mention some amazing insights about human nature. It's a shame more people have not read this author. He's on to something!
