Deeper Peace for the Peace-Filled 1 novembre 2011
Par E. M. Gregg - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché
I consider myself a peaceful - a peace-filled - person. I am not one to become overly agitated or stressed, because I have learned doing so is counter-productive for me.

Even so, life happens, and sometimes it isn't pretty, or easy, in any way. When life happens in that way, our established sense of peace can be challenged, and even compromised.

That's what was happening to me when I received the truly Divine opportunity to read and review this book. Being unemployed for the better part of six months, plummeting temperatures bringing on the need to engage the furnace, and precarious finances were fast adding up to an anything but peaceful existence.

Then, I opened the book, and started reading. I quickly discovered I didn't necessarily need to read it from front to back, which satisfied my "monkey mind," and so I began using it much like a "cosmic pick;" I randomly leafed through the book until compelled to stop, or simply opened it, then read what was revealed, and applied it.

I am loving this book. I can't say I loved it, because it is in active use, and will, in all likelihood, continue to be so for some time. It's not a book that will languish on a bookshelf; it's a book that will be out on a side table, within arm's reach, ready to offer me mindfully short transport to peace.

"Shortcuts to Inner Peace", Wonderful! 1 novembre 2011
Par Melissa - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché
When reading this book I had alot of time to contemplate my life and where I am going in it. Reading "Shortcuts to Inner Peace" helped me learn how to find out where I am going in life while trying to keep peace in my life on a day to day basis. I loved this book because it was straight foward and to the point. The book not only gives a trigger, a problem and a solution to the problem but also gives anecdotes that are easy to relate to. I highly reccomend this book to people who have a hard time keeping or creating innner peace in thier lives, but I also reccomend this book to people who already have inner peace in thier lives. "Shortcuts to Inner Peace" is not only helpful but also a great read for anyone.

A book to keep at hand and use frequently 1 novembre 2011
Par Margaret Picky - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché
"Shortcuts to Inner Peace" teaches you how to quickly and easily access and develop the tranquility that lies within each of us and create a healthy mental outlook. As explained in the first thirty pages, the underlying principles are eclectic, so you can incorporate and apply the techniques from your own viewpoint.

The seventy "shortcuts" that follow the introductory material consist of contemplations and (mostly) mental exercises. They are easy to learn and practice during daily activities or when encountering common situations, until they become habitual.

Each concise lesson gives the trigger (situation) and tool (solution) followed by a very interesting and personal story that gives additional explanation and meaning. These triggers and tools can be summarized on an index card or sticky note and I suggest doing that with your favorites and placing them in strategic locations to help you remember to practice them. You can even use one as a scrolling screen-saver.

The organization of the book groups the shortcuts by theme. The brief appendices provide handy indexes that group them by type, situation, and trigger, which is very useful. There are also a couple of more generally meditative shortcuts in the back plus excellent suggestions for further reading. This book will also help you to create your own mini-meditations.

Browse the book and try a couple of the shortcuts. They are as simple as a mindful "count to three and take a deep breath" but are much more focused and helpful. They will work the first time you use them and their effectiveness will grow stronger with repeated practice.

fantastic little book!! 1 novembre 2011
Par skin sis - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché
I have been waiting for this book for so long! Finally, a way to readily incorporate ways to relax and remember the bigger picture while running around during my busy days. I never had the time to meditate but by using some of Ashley's little techniques I can refocused my nervous energy into a more calm and productive approach. My favorite Shortcut is Go With the Flow. As a physician, I wash my hands frequently during the day. This technique helps to ground me quickly and effectively. It works for me!
