The guy below me is an idiot 19 septembre 2005
Par Wade H. Rice III - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
I like this cd and I like the band I have seen them live once and plan on doing it again. I have contomplated buying this newer limited edition version, since i have the original version. That is why i started reading reviews. But then I came along this dumbass writing a bad review just because he thinks that this band is not original. He says they sound like Thursday and Taking Back Sunday. I agree but they sound different from them as well, it is not a cookie cutter similarity. What really drives me nutz is that he says that other bands are more original. The only band that i will say he mentioned that is an origianl band is fugazi. The rest sound like other bands that have come before them. Where the f**k did you get the idea that System of a Down are origianl and independant. They are the most repeated and mainstream nu-metal band out there. Their lyrics are complete bull s**t. The only thing that makes them independant is that the put thrash into the nu-metal. Thrash is not original it has been done for over two decades now. I can understand what he means by the are not an "independant" band, but use better examples of independant bands. Such as Dillinger Escape Plan or Converge or even He Is Legend. If your going to make an argument have good examples to back it up with, not bull s**t.

Good cd if you didnt have the original 15 août 2005
Par Zack - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
Look the bonus stuff isnt too great. The concert on the cd is only 7 songs and the sound quality sucks. The signing stuff and some other things are just boring 1 minute things that shouldnt have there own chapter. By all means the cd is a 5/5 and the bonus songs are cool its just if you have the original one and really liked it, and thought that maybe you should buy this one too to get the bonus stuff, I wouldnt recommend it. I only got it cause it was only 6 bucks at warped tour. But ive seen it go up to 20 in some stores so dont blow that kind of money if you got the old one. If you dont own the old one then just get this one. Youll get the bonus stuff and the original cd. My favirate part of the purcahse I made was the cool case, and theres a new section in the booklet that tells you what the songs mean (which really opens up your eyes and really shuts the critics up). So point is, if you own the original keep it. If you dont then get this.

Despite follow-up releases, still a solid album 19 octobre 2008
Par RaisedOnSpitalfield - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
Note: I'm really sick of all the anti-emo reviews that have been flooded on amazon about the band/album. First of all, this isn't emo. If you want emo, check out pedro the lion, sunny day real estate or early JEW and go from there. Secondly, despite later releases, TSIBAW is still a very solid listen for fans of Silverstein, Thursday and even Thrice. If medium heavy core rock isn't your thing, move along. There's nothing here for you anyway.

The Overview: The Silence In Black and White is the debut record from Victory records mainstays Hawthorne Heights. It gained the band modest success with the singles Ohio Is For Lovers and Niki FM.

The Hits: Obviously, Ohio Is For Lovers is probably the strongest song here. But really, they're all worth a listen.

The Misses: Nothing noteable, save for Silver Bullet, which is borderline filler.

The Verdict: Hawthorne Heights have since undergone some major changes since the release of TSIBAW, both musically and in their line-up. If Only You Were Lonely (2006) saw the band drop most of the screamo and shift into pop-punk, and following the tragic death of a fellow band member, 2008's Fragile Future completely shifted the band into pop-rock territory. Still, TSIBAW is a key must have for fans of the softer side of hardcore.

Hawthorne Heights; Not quite screamo 26 novembre 2005
Par Travis - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
OK ya all the people before me have made good points. I listen to pretty much everyband that was mentioned above. But i also think your not being fair to this band.. sure they only have like 4 good songs on the cd. But this band is good in small doses. Especially when you are feeling to mellow for From Autumn to ashes which Im starting to think is a little over the top on the screaming... there is like no words.. but back to Hawthorne Heights i mean at least the whole thing isnt just screaming so i give it a 3.

Better bands to buy instead:

*My Chemical Romance*

*Fall Out Boy*

*A New Found Glory*

*Alien Ant Farm*

*Armor For Sleep*

*Beastie Boys*

*Chronic Future*

*Coheed & Cambria*

*Death Cab For Cutie*

*Dropkick Murphies*

*Gym Class Heros*

*Hawk Nelson*

*Hazen Street*

*Hot Hot Heat*

*Matchbook Romance*

*Motion City Soundtrack*

*The Offspring*

*Reliant K*

*Simple Plan*

*Smashing Pumpkins*

*Something Corperate*

*Story of the Year*

*Street Dogs*

*The Used*

*Box Car Racer*

*Bowling for soup*

ya i know its a really weird listing but they are all better than Hawthorne Hieghts... but ya just download this one you'll be glad you did.

The only totally objective review here 23 février 2006
Par Open-mindedness personified - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
Despite what everyone else here seems to believe these guys have just as many good points to offset "less favorable" qualities. One part it seems most people can agree on is that the guitar playing by this band really rocks. I'll admit that the lyrics are unoriginal but they are not bland and they are rather catchy. Those of us that listen to real screamo bands such as ATREYU know that the screamer for HH actually sounds really good. And for all of you who think that you listen to screamo I say this to you: just because the singer starts singing a little louder or pounds it out at the end of a song, that's not screaming, that's just singing louder and it's going to sound totally different so it's not even fair to make a comparison there. Also, if any of you hate "emo" or punk to begin with than you have no right to review this cd because your opinions are biased negative. I do enjoy this style of music but my opinions here are completely objective (not the not-automatic 5 star rating). For those of you stuck in the 80s, this is the new punk, get over it and catch up with the rest of us. I personally don't believe in the word "emo" because all that means is that the music is centered on emotions (usually pain or loss). Pretty much every artist and three of their cousins has written a song like that so I declare that everything is emo. And then there's dear kyle michelson, who is so dedicated to following the "emo/punk" stereotype so "to the letter" that he has in fact betrayed what it means to be those things, he's not unique, he's like every other person like that (and there are a lot of them). Those styles support individuality, not just conformity to a less popular style. And since i'm pretty much as off-topic as i care to get, back to finish my actual review. I saw these guys play at Warped Tour and their show was full of energy and emotion, the band and the crowd really got into it. All in all I enjoy these guys a lot and i will be buying there new cd that comes out Feb. 28, 2006.

Now that's a damn good review/message board post so everyone can stop bashing for a while
