Présentation de l'éditeur

In a country dominated by a war that has lasted for decades, all Duncan Harding ever wanted was a quiet life, running the garrison that has been commissioned to his family for generations. But his aspirations came to a sudden end when he was expelled from the Military Academy seven years ago. Now he is unexpectedly given the chance to return – for a price. Seventeen-year-old Taiko Camlyn is the heir apparent to the leadership of his home country, and the Academy’s newest recruit. Spying on the youth should be a piece of cake for a man like Duncan. But Taiko turns out to be far removed from Duncan's expectations and his assignment proves to be more insidious than he ever imagined. Caught in a tangled web of deceit and emotions he could never have anticipated, Duncan has to make decisions that will change his life forever.

"Sins of Omission" is a beautiful character driven book that still has plenty of plot.

Duncan is somewhat disagreeable, maybe even a tad sociopathic with his "me me me" behavior BUT he exudes charm like we normal humans expel carbon dioxide. And, for someone whose first thought revolves around his own wants and needs, he's shockingly unaware of his own feelings.
However, there's something enviable and even admirable in how he chooses to live his life, shamelessly flaunting characteristics deemed disreputable by his militant country, Orontia, and its people.

Yeah, I know this doesn't paint a pretty picture and you may feel like he's not worth following around for 400 pages, but you'd be wrong. Duncan's inner crises and emotional development is captivating. He has a unique ability to worm his way inside your heart, while revving up your libido, too.

Taiko is serene, decisive, gifted and ethereal in his beauty, prowress and honor. Despite being Duncan's junior by nine years, he possesses a wisdom and moral compass belying his youth. He's amazing!

As individuals they both are fascinating, but together they're magic. Rarely have I witnessed a couple who so thoroughly complement one another, in fiction or otherwise. Duncan and Taiko are the supreme example of the possibilities and joys real love can bring, even if it's a difficult and challenging journey.

I'd say that it's pretty plot driven, too. You have a 26 year old Duncan who's been essentially wasting away in purgatory after being banished from the Academy- a military school and the only place where a person can become an officer or ever hope to attain the means for future happiness in Orontia.
He's offered an opportunity to go back and get a diploma IF he successfully insinuates himself into the heir apparent of Lomenia's life, and bed if necessary, to gather and report any all information.

All goes well as the two find themselves pleasantly suitable to each other's company- becoming more well rounded as people due to their friendship and affection.

While everything begins at the Academy in Orontia, the ultimate test lies in Lomenia.

Duncan must come to terms with his sins, and their repercussions, meanwhile deciphering his true feelings about Taiko. Taiko must be strong enough to stand beside his lover against the expectations of his friends, family and entire country. It's a tall order for both of them and it's a perilously thin line between success and failure.

I doubt I could ever express my great love for this book; it's just too mind bogglingly awesome. I wish I could just string together positive adjectives to get my point across...

Basically, it's a well written and perfectly executed story set in a world similar enough to ours to be comfortably familiar and different enough to keep you spellbound. The characters are real, evolving, suffering, loving, worrying people who take root in your heart.

Missing out on this book would be a sin.

Upon reading this book I was very curious about Duncan then I thought he was a selfish jerk but as I continued to read the story I came to realize that he is just a insecure person who got caught I. a situation that he can't forgive himself for, so when an opportunity comes to take him away from his dreary life at home with his mother and sister he accepts without realizing that Taiko would come to mean more to him than a chance at fresh start what Taiko will give and show Duncan will be a life beyond he has ever known and a love Duncan never knew he wanted or even needed.

I enjoyed this story so much it was full of intrigue, suspense, danger, deception, mystery love and I wanted more, I will be reading this one over again and looking for more stories from this author I wish I could rate it higher than a five because this book definitely deserves a ten across the boards!!

Duncan is such a compelling character right from the first moment we meet him that you can't help but root for him, even when you really want to give his head a shake. The threads of intrigue and clues to its resolution are so carefully woven throughout the story that when I was finished, I immediately wanted to go back and read it again for those 'Aha!' moments.

This is a great book full of adventure and suspense it held my attention from page one up to the very end. Duncan is faced with so many dilemmas that back him into corners it is mindbogging how he proceeds with each one.
