The real reason how Ben Affleck's character was able to free the hostages: BECAUSE HE'S BATMAN!!! 24 avril 2014
Par Cameron Bartlett - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Format Kindle
The title of this story is Argo. Clever use of a title, because back when this was released, it was the same time that the Oscar winning film, "Argo" was released. Two in-jokes, the premise of the movie Argo was that Ben Affleck's character was pretending to be shooting a sci-fi movie, so that he can get the hostages out. Well, we never learn what the plot of the Sci-fi was, however, one could download Miller's comic book at the same time and "view" a heavy laden sci-fi storyline based also loosely off of the Greek legend of Argo. And of course the other in-joke would be that Argo was Ben Affleck's first Oscar film, which in-turn, probebly had a big influence to him getting the role as Batman in the upcomming MOS sequel (and if rumors are true, director of the JLA film). So Miller was pretty clever with the "timely-ness" of this story.

This story is big and short. Which is really my only complaint. If I remember correctly, this issue was only 9 issues long, verses the normal 12. There is a lot of storyline packed this "shorter" episode. I feel that a lot is covered so little time which ultimately leads into this being one of the most forgetful episodes so far in this season.
My personal opinion on which episodes I like best would be:
1. Haunted
2. Alien
3. So far Lantern seems to have the potential to be one of the best Smallville Universe storylines (just not Clark Kent storylines).
- and Titans was a pretty great little run- I hope that they continue to do more spinoffs with the Titans (maybe a visit/training day from Cyborg?)

Anyway, Argo does give a lot of good things:
1. Booster and Skeets return.
2. A little Beetle and Gold time.
3.There's a cameo appearance of another Justice League character.
4. The full Legion are present (including my favorite, Starboy).
5. Doomsday round 2 (without the tv budget)
6. We learn what happened to Kara when she went to the future.
7. We also learn what happened to the Kandorians after season 9

This issue, therefore, answers a lot things that the show was never able to answer.

Good read 28 mai 2014

This is a nice combining of the Smallville television series storyline and the plots that have run in previous incarnations of the Legion of Super-Heroes in several different series of comics. I think that, in a few places, the story was a little forced, but overall it was exciting and held my interest throughout. If you liked Smallville on TV or are a fan of the LSH, you will enjoy this graphic novel.
Welcome to the 31st century... Welcome to New Krypton 23 juillet 2014

Picking up where Smallville's final season left off, DC's Superman comic set in the CW TV universe after Clark Kent has embraced his destiny as Metropolis' guardian. In this fourth trade paperback volume collecting digital chapters 41-53 featuring stories from DC comic writer and Smallville tv series writer Bryan Miller and artists Daniel Hdr and Cat Staggs with cover by Pete Woods. The time-traveling superhero Booster Gold and the Legion of Super-heroes return drawing Clark into a 31st century in which Metropolis is nearly at war. There's a Kryptonian lost colony called Argo where Zod's soldiers flourished their own society. There is a threat to the peace between the New Kryptonians and Earthlings... Can Clark, Kara and the others unify to deal with the added threat of the monstrous killing machine Subject Zero a.k.a. "Doomsday."
And in the final chapter of trade paperback "Valkyrie" Lois and Lana reunite to fight a maniac with a Kryptonite Heart using a Prometheus skin attempting to assimilate decommissioned war tech.

The original digital covers by Cat Staggs are gorgeous (see the back of the trade paperback for them) much stronger than Pete Woods collection cover. Overall the art a stories here are fine, the likenesses of the actors are merged with the spirit of the comics, they have the feel of the CW series while widening the general scope of the series more than tv would permit. ARGO continues to steer season 11into an interesting direction volume 5 is due out in October 2014.

These Smallville digital comics collected in book form are better than they have any right to be. I stopped watching the television show after a couple of years, unable to tolerate the mercurial romance between Lana and Clark. These comics books are better than the television show ever was.

This would have been great to see on television. The artwork conveys a sense of life that one cannot measure with words. Plus the back up story with Lana and Lois is superb. I wish that they would have included the other back up stories in the previous volumes.
