4.0 étoiles sur 5 Good Read. Nice art. Horrible cover. 16 mars 2014

To be honest I put off buying this for awhile because of the cover art. Of course you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but still--this is horrible cover art. I was pleasantly surprised by the actual story art and story as well. I liked this much better than the Batman arc, which seemed to be all over the place, covering too much ground in too little time. Plus, a krypto-proof suit?? Horrible. Back to this book, loved the way they tied all flashes together and the theme was cool. Bart really rocks in this.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 They mystery thickens, who is Bart from the comics? 2 novembre 2013
Par Cameron Bartlett - Publié sur
Format:Format Kindle
This is where the series really begins to shine. Many fanboards would agree that out of the first three episodes of this series, Haunted is by far the best. Each ep. drew the reader in for different reasons. One was drawn to Ep 1, Gaurdian, because one wanted to know what happened after the finale of Season 10. One was drawn to Ep 2, Detective, to see what Smallville's version of Batman would look like. And one was drawn to Ep 3, Haunted, perhaps, to find out the real mystery to which Flash Bart really is. Whereas in the first two episodes one may have felt not fully satisfied in the delivery, Episode three goes beyond and not only fills one's curriosity about the true identity of Bart, but it also pulls the pulls the reader into the story. That's why the first two episodes were hit and miss. Yes they both told you what has Clark as Superman been up to after season 10, as well as telling you, what does Smallville's Batman look like and how does he fit into the universe of the show, but some readers may not have been fully grabbed into the storylines themselves. Haunted on the otherhand, is the true gem of the series, and perhaps, by some, would still be considered the superior episode even to episodes 4, Argo, and 5, Olympus.

I will not spoil it for readers, but if you were a fan of the tv show then I highly recommend that you first view this story first as a mystery, and that mystery being this: who do you think Bart is from the comics? I highly encourage readers to wrestle and come up with a theory before they begin to read the story. Here are some possible answers:

Bart is in fact Barry Allen from the comics.
Reason: Clearly he is a founder of the Justice League along with Clark, Green Arrow, Cyborg, Aquaman, Black Canary, and Martian Manhunter. Barry was a founding member of the Justice League in the comics. He is clearly the next Flash after Jay Garrick's Flash just like Barry was. Bart Allen is short for Bartholomew Allen. This is the full name of Barry, for Barry is short for Bartholomew. If this is so, then before Barry took on the name Flash, he first was called Impulse.

Bart is in fact Bart Allen from the (Traditional) comics.
In the comics Bart Allen is from the future, and is a decendant of Barry Allen, who comes back in time. In the cartoon show Young Justice, he comes back in time to save Barry Allen from his sacrafice and to stop a "Crisis" from happening in the future. His first name that he goes by is Impulse. Does the show back this us? Well Bart from the show is named Bart Allen and is never called Flash, but first goes by the name Impulse. In the episode Run, while flirting with Chloe, he says that he is from the future. Could Smallville's Bart be Impulse from the comics and the change is that he came into the past before Barry became the Flash?

Bart is in fact Bart Allen (non traditional) from the comics.
It is possible that Bart may still be Impulse from the comics it is just that the show is going an alternate route by just not having him be from the future. Bart could still be Impulse from the comics, but in Smallville continuity Impulse was founding member of Justice League and was the second Flash instead of the 4th Flash.

Bart is in fact Barry/Wally/Bart from the comics.
Bart could in fact just be a combination of all Flash's put together. His carries the name Impulse, his personality is more like Wally's, and his backstory is more like Barry's. So in Smallville universe there may not actually be a Barry and a Wally but that all the Flashes are just combined together. This is similar to Green Lantern off of the failed 1997 Justice League tv pilot. They called him Guy Gardner and gave him Guy Gardners costume, but he looked more like Hal and was more like Hal/Kyle in personality. And his Green Lantern ring was in fact Allen Scott's ring.

Bart is in fact an alternate version of one of the Flashes from the comics.
Bart could possibily be from an alternate reality and is an alternate version of Barry Allen. We already know that Earth 2 exists and that there probbebly are more alternate worlds. It is possible that Bart is in fact an alternate Flash that has somehow ended up in our reality for some reason.

Bart is in fact, another thoery...

So here are the possible answers to the mystery. Like I said, I think that before you read the issue you should be familiar with this question and should have some thoughts on your own who you think and believe he is. I believe that will make the story more enjoyable as you to try to solve the mystery.

The story itself is pretty good and is the best story so far in the series.I really enjoyed that they brought in Jay Garrick and gave a believeable explanation to why he did not join the action in season 9's Justice Society episode.

And the art is actually pretty good compared to the other 2 episodes.

All in all, give this one go!

If you enjoyed this read I would recommend looking into these other stories:
-The novelazation of Crisis on Multiple Earths. I listend to the audio drama version, it was pretty good.
-Season 2 of Young Justice.
- Pilot from the 90's Flash tv series (they were creative in how they approached doing the Jay Garrick and Wally West).

Impulse returns and brings a strange visitor with him.
I like the call back to "Who is the fastest man alive?" And the art is starting to find it's niche, only a couple *huh they picked that face?* hiccups.

A really interesting storyline and some good characters coming back. Am finding the Crisis on Earth 2 storyline a little slow but have enjoyed the rest.

Loved the TV show and this is a great way to keep the story alive. Love the book and love reading all at once and not having to wait for the next issue.
