Smoothies are the perfect way to increase our intake of fruits, vegetables and herbs. Because of the variety of fruits and vegetables, smoothie recipes are also ideal for fussy eaters. They can also be taken to the next level with the addition of herbs for natural remedies. Smoothies provide an instant energy boost, are packed full of goodness and relatively quick and cheap to prepare. This means that smoothies are playing an increasingly important role in the everyday life of many homes.
Obviously, a smoothie machine is perfect for the job but if you don’t have one, there are alternatives.
Food processors and blenders will also work, it will just take a little longer. With the additional use of a large bowl and a whisk you could even use a juicing machine.
The choice of ingredients is almost limitless. The only limiting factor is your personal tastes. Fruits are always popular but vegetables a little less so. It really is a matter of personal preference.

For beginners I have included a comprehensive list of fruits, vegetables, herbs and their health benefits. I also show you how to choose the different types of fruits and vegetables and how to store them all so that you get the optimum health benefits. The title is very explicit. This book is about smoothies, milk smoothies, yogurt smoothies, and even juice smoothies.

The first part had some yummy variations of every day smoothies. It was ok, but I was not very impressed. If you are not into smoothies and want to jump in, they will make your day.

Now, the second section did call my attention. Detox smoothies with herbs and weeds that grow in my yard. Dandelion, marigold, oregano, parsley, put in smoothies that are at the same time tasty and good for detox, keep the blood flowing, the kidneys working, and the whole machine tuned up.

Third and forth sections of the book were about fruit and veggie properties and how to choose them.

Cons... well, there are always some. The formatting could be better and there were no pictures. I think that cook books of any kind need to "prove" the recipes are tried and good adding original images. It doesn't matter if the images are great or not so good, I want to see them anyway (this is very personal, others might complain about bad pics).

Overall, it is a complete and well thought book, with recipes I plan to use. I liked it.

I love the variety here. I've seen other smoothie books that talk more about the health benefits, etc. But it was nice to just get one packed full of recipes I could go make right now. The way the book is laid out, it makes it seem so easy too! I look forward to trying some of these out. Thanks to the author. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

My husband and I have been looking for some new, refreshing smoothie recipes, and we really hit a gold mine with this book. We love having smoothies in place of breakfast, and with me due any moment with our second son, I have been craving lots of fresh fruits. We were both burned out on our favorite recipes, though, so we needed to find more.

This book is much more than just recipes for smoothies - it also contains the amount of carbs and protein you will get from drinking each smoothie. Then, there's another section completely dedicated to the health benefits of a variety of foods. So, if you want to focus on getting certain nutrients, you know which smoothie recipes in the book would be best for that.

You also learn how to choose and store fruit so you don't waste your time or money.

I highly recommend this book for someone just beginning to make smoothies or those that want something new in regards to recipes!
