Où l'on retrouve le commissaire Vimaire, toujours méfiant, toujours en colère et toujours faussement naïf. Un voyage à la campagne, dans les terres de sa femme, est l'occasion pour Pratchett d'étoffer les relations du flic le plus grincheux du Disque Monde avec son fils Sam ainsi qu'avec son majordome, dont les lecteurs fidèles ont déjà pu entre-apercevoir les tendances homicides dans les précédents volumes.On découvrira également un nouveau peuple du Disque Monde, les gobelins, dont la civilisation raffinée et courtoise... bon, ils collectionnent leur cérumen et leurs rognures d'ongles et ont la puanteur d'un tas de fumier. Mais ils sont polis. Une fois de plus, Terry Pratchett fait montre de bienveillance vis à vis des travers des humains comme des autres races censées incarner nos caricatures. Et même si les sujets abordés sont graves (esclavage, meurtres, etc...), la lecture est plaisante, l'humour omniprésent (attention, niveau d'anglais élevé requis), et on ferme le livre avec une foi renouvelée en l'être humain. Vivement la traduction en français, même si j'ai beaucoup de compassion pour qui va s'atteler à la tâche. Aidez d'autres clients à trouver les commentaires les plus utiles
