Présentation de l'éditeur

David Booker returns to Romney Marsh on the south coast of England for a holiday. He is expecting to spend time helping his aunt and uncle pack up the stock of their second-hand bookshop in preparation for a happy retirement.

He arrives in Dymchurch on a miserable April night to find his relatives missing without word or clue regarding their whereabouts.

As events unravel, the attitude of the local police pushes David into searching for answers to the questions surrounding his family’s disappearance. To get them he will look death in the face and owe his life twice over to a woman he hardly knows…

Extracts from Amazon reviews for Bad Sons:

“Very good read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and like other readers found it hard to put down.” (B J Orchard, 5*)

“Best offering so far. WOW, I think it is your best yet, I found it hard to put down… I have been reading books for about the last 63 years, and have read thousands, and you are in my top three authors of all time, well done, keep it up.” (Phildiver, 5*)

“Just a really good read. Highly recommended if you love a good read that's all about the story - not unnecessary boring love / relationship angst!” (Katie L, 5*)

“Your best book so far!! I too read it in a day. It was impossible not to. Knowing it was being set in my home village made it eagerly anticipated. I was not disappointed. The story flowed easily and was exciting.” (Sharonlavinia, 5*)

“Gripping. A cleverly crafted thriller that just cannot be put down.” (Rich66, 5*)

“Read it now. I've been up all night in full ‘just another chapter’ mode so that tells you the plot is compulsive. There are new twists and revelations in every chapter so I was unable to stop until I found out what happened next.” (Elaine Byrne, 5*)

“A really good read. I read it in a day. I had to force myself to take an occasional break as it was enthralling. I'm looking forward to the next Booker & Cash book.” (T Brenchley, 5*)

“A great story reminiscent of the early Robert Goddard books. I couldn't put it down… I enjoyed it immensely.” (David Lemon, 5*)

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Great mystery 17 mars 2014

Bad Sons is a terrific, realistic mystery. The main character, David Booker, returns to England to assist his aunt and uncle for a week and finds them missing. He knows he should let the police handle the investigation but he can't stop himself from doing a bit of sleuth work. What results are problems for him and a super mystery for the reader.
If you enjoy fast-paced mysteries without gore, I think you'd like Bad Sons. I hope there's a Booker & Cash book 2 soon.

Looks like the start of another great series. I truly enjoyed the Romney and Marsh files by Oliver Tidy and was pleased to see this new book available for free on the Kindle. It can be hard to read a new series by an author - you get to missing the characters you know. That distracted me a bit as I started, but by 40% (I wish Kindle would do page numbers!) I was completely engaged.
Daniel Booker and Jo Cash start off on opposite sides of a crime - he a suspect, she the investigator. Daniel's determination to solve the mystery of his Aunt's murder places him in danger, and in the way of Jo's investigation. As they begin their tenuous partnership the complexity of the crime grows. A good twisty plot, solid character development and a keen sense of place earn this book five stars.

This is a great read. It reminds me of early Dick Francis. It is one of the few recent books you can not put down, and do not want it to finish. Oliver Tidy's writing is getting better. Started on the first of the Romney and Marsh series, and have ended up on this one. In each book the writing gets better. Do not get it for free, pay for it - it well worth it. Only issue is the wait for the next installment.

I never would have realized that this was a self-published ebook until I checked on fantastic fiction to see his complete list of books. It was edited better than many I have read, published by traditional houses. I particularly like international police procedurals, and this caught my eye because of the locale, Kent, England. Both main characters were charismatic and likable and worked well as foils for one another. I particularly liked the bookstore background and David Booker's interest in literature and the book business as I once managed bookstores! I'm looking forward to additional books with these characters. I thought the story was complicated enough to hold my interest, and the ending justified the time spent making the journey. So while I'm awaiting the next Booker and Cash, I'm going to begin the Romney and Marsh series which currently has four titles.
