The book was an excellent introduction to the history of philosophy. Starting from how our ancestors have tackled the mythologies, the book takes us on a journey of how they ended up with various theories to explain about our existence, the existence of the universe and how they tried to answer the holy grail of ethics - " how should we be? how can we do everything in the right way?" The fictional story accompanying the various philosophies is also very interesting. It took me back to my childhood when I used to enjoy a lot of make-believe stuff. All the philosophies are accompanied by interesting examples to help understand and appreciate them better. To brief it up, we run through the Greek philosophies, the cultural epochs in Europe, Rationalism and Empiricism and the whole picture of it. We are even given an introduction to Darwin, Freud and the Big Bang Theory. This book is truly remarkable in sharing so much of knowledge in just a couple of pages. However, my only regret with this book was that it didn't include much of the Eastern philosophy. Surely, there's a little on Buddhism but that's it. We miss all the giant Indian theories. In any case, I would recommend you to pick up a book because it has made me much more open minded to all points of view and has also evoked me to cherish the various possibilities that could occur in philosophy and in fiction.
