Présentation de l'éditeur

You can get in, but you can't get out... at least not alive.
Shortly after his arrival in the small town of Porterville, Texas, Detective Jack Nelson meets a stranger who claims that they've been friends for over a month. A waitress in the diner across the street from his motel recognizes Jack and tells him he's been eating at her restaurant for two months.

When Jack discovers undeniable evidence that most of his memories are false, he begins to suspect that he's a subject of a mind-manipulation experiment conducted by a secret organization. What he doesn't realize is that the motel he's staying at is owned by a powerful evil entity thriving on death and human suffering. He also doesn't know that everyone who left this place ended up committing suicide.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Mysterious Thriller 1 juin 2014

"Spellbound" is a thriller full of mystery and suspense. I got hooked from the very first page. You immediately get a sense that something is amiss when Jack meets Scott, who is staying at the same motel as Jack. Scott says that they've been drinking together every weekend for a month, but Jack doesn't remember that. He's convinced that he came to Porterville just yesterday.
Then Jack discovers that he brought a whole suitcase of clothes although his visit to Porterville was supposed to last only a couple of days. It becomes clear that the last several months were wiped from Jack's memory. Jack is confused and feels that his life might be in danger.

There are a lot of unpredictable and astonishing twists in this book. You begin to wonder if everyone in Jack's motel is on the verge of insanity. Jack's investigation into the kidnapping of his neighbor's husband results in a shocking revelation.

I admired Jack's wife's courage and persistence. She risked her freedom and made many hard choices trying to help her husband.

I enjoyed this book. It has an original plot and presents interesting opinions about the evil and the good in this world.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Conspiracies and paranoia. 31 mai 2014

I love books about conspiracies and paranoia. Spellbound offers plenty of both. It tells the story of Jack Nelson, an Albuquerque police detective who finds himself in a bizarre predicament: he's lived in some backwater town for several months and does not remember it. Alice Briggs, Jack's friend who invited him to Porterville, has vanished without a trace, but the front desk says she hasn't checked out. Was she kidnapped? Was she butchered by organ traffickers?

Twists and turns in this inventive thriller made my head spin. I was never able to predict where the author was taking me, and this journey was exhilarating. Some may find this book controversial, but I think the discussions that take place here accurately reflect the state our world is in.

Spellbound is an edge-of-the-seat thriller with a lot of thought-provoking ideas. I give it 5 out of 5.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A very suspenseful thriller 2 juin 2014

There's nothing better than a good conspiracy, except one with paranoia and the supernatural mixed in! "Spellbound" by Tim Kizer, tells the tale of police detective Jack Nelson who finds himself the center of a mystery. His close friend has vanished and everyone insists he's been in town for months - but he doesn't remember it. Things are definitely NOT what they seem.

I found the characters to be nicely developed and believable, the storyline inventive and very suspenseful. With plenty of twists and turns, it definitely kept me engrossed and turning the pages in eager anticipation of the plot's climax.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Spooky thriller with deep meaning 2 juin 2014

From the first page to the very last one I enjoyed everything about this book. It's contains a wonderful mixture of suspense, frights and unpredictable action that when combined creates a compelling read. To briefly summarize the plot in Spellbound a woman is forced to take on a powerful and evil force in a bid to save her beloved husband.

One of the things I really appreciated about Spellbound is the fact that it’s multilayered. Whilst there is plenty of action and suspense there is also depth, its underlying messages are thought provoking and evoke emotion from the reader. The book ponders the moral conundrum people face when they are forced to do extreme things out of love and desperation. Above all this story is a stark reminder of the evil that inhabits certain parts of this world.

I like almost nothing about this book except its concept. So poorly constructed it is an endless string of rambling ridulous thoughts, completely unbelievable dialog and characters behaving in ways no real person would EVER behave. In the end, after wading through the mess (or skimming) you are rewarded with...nothing. No answers, no explanations, no real conclusion at all, just The End. I will not read anything else from this author.
