Présentation de l'éditeur

***You do NOT need to read Songs of Submission to read Spin***

Mafia capo, Antonio Spinelli blew through my orderly life like a cyclone.

Gorgeous and passionate, with a breathtaking brutality, he put me under his spell the moment he touched me, drawing me into his underworld of risk, violence and betrayal.

And I found, just as this sophisticated savage didn’t trust me, I didn’t trust myself. Something happened to me. Some alchemy from the heat between us.

I discovered I was a savage, too.

**MATURE AUDIENCES--Rough sex. Dirty talk. Criminal activity. Cursing. Fisticuffs. Closed course. Professional driver. Do not try this at home.**

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A highly addicting, wild, and erotic ride. 12 mars 2014
Par Cheshire Cat - Publié sur
Format:Format Kindle
I suspect that CD Reiss somehow laced my e-reader with a powerful narcotic, because when it comes to her books, there is a very addicting quality to them. I read the Songs of Submission series a couple of months ago, and was completely engrossed by them. Reading Spin (Theresa's spinoff) was just as addicting, but a story and characters completely different. Since I can't prove she's slipped me some highly addictive drug, I'm left with the simple fact that Reiss is a brilliant writer. The way she strings sentences, scenes, thoughts, and emotions together truly brings you into another world and hooks you into whatever journey she's taking you on. If you are familiar with Reiss's books, then you know she holds nothing back, and her books are not for the light romance reader. If you are unfamiliar, be prepared for an intense, erotic read.

As for the story itself, I found the developing relationship between Theresa and Antonio absolutely fascinating. Between their off-the-charts chemistry, their spiraling and intermingling personalities, the opposition of their worlds, and their whirlwind erotic romance, they are a couple that is not easily forgotten. Add into that Theresa's mayoral candidate ex-fiancé, Theresa's director friend who gets herself into a whole lot of trouble, Antonio's sketchy and mysterious resume, and Antonio's questionable associates, and you've got yourself a story full of action and intrigue that flows non-stop from beginning to end, not a dull moment in sight.

As for the sex, as you might have expected, the sex is rough, it's dirty, it's erotic. You've been warned. But it somehow fits these two characters and their dynamic completely. The romance is well-written, and though the sex is detailed, it's not excessive and overly verbose. I do confess that the shower scene was a bit of a stretch (pun intended) for me, and I found myself laughing when the scene wasn't funny. But other than that, this crazy romance was oddly believable and definitely hot. And there is just something beautiful and sensual about Antonio and Theresa that comes across the pages, even when they're being rough.

Overall, Spin is a highly addictive and wild ride, filled with suspense, danger, and sex. Antonio and Theresa are off-the-charts in more ways than one (hot, smart, a bit crazy). The writing will draw you in and keep your attention from start to finish. The ending is not a cliffhanger, but more a here's-where-they-are-for-now, but you'll be okay with that until the next book.

C.D. Reiss does it again! Songs of Corruption starts off with one heck of a bang!

Theresa Drazen is a numbers gal, she’s the type of girl that dates law abiding men, men that run for Mayor... but those things and that kind of man, well those don’t make her feel like she’s alive and even though numbers may never lie, the same can’ be said for the men. Newly single and unsure, Theresa feels a spark when the scent of smoke and pine hits her right between the legs.

Antonio ‘Spin’ Spinelli might have the title esquire after his name and a few businesses that appear to be legit under his belt, but make no mistake about the danger that lurks beneath the surface of the man. His life is the kind that swallows you whole, the kind that the drains the sweet and hardens the soft right out of you. But when Theresa Drazen catches his eye, all bets are off.

A life of crime and a life of high society collide and neither of them can be prepared for the explosion that is coming their way.

(This is the part where I swear a whole bunch to express my excitement but because of TOS I can’t share those numerous f-bombs with you, they were really great f-bombs though). I expected hot as sin sex, I expected exceptional writing... these are two things that I knew from my reading of the Songs of Submission, she was going to deliver. I did not expect that my eyes would be blurred with tears at a few moments where everything that surrounds these two are pulling them apart.

Let me just get the sex out of the way. It was hot. The kind of hot that leaves your body aching for more. These two, d*mn – Theresa came out of nowhere as a little h*ll-cat. And Spin, well yeah. He’s the bad boy, bad-*$s mafia guy and has a talent for getting his c*** out without wasting a second.

Now to the characters.... We’ve caught a glimpse of Theresa in SOS but for the first time we get to know her much better. I wasn’t sure if any of Jonathan’s sisters were going to be able to pull me in completely. I expected Fiona would have been the one to do it – being a sex addict and free spirit and all, but Theresa was steady and strong all while being vulnerable. As I type this I am shaking my head, thinking ‘why would I not know that the heroine would be kick*ss? This is the woman who brought us Monica.’

And our Spin.

“Come volevi tu”

Every word he said was playing in my head with a little sexy Italian accent. The right mix of hard and soft, gentle-power. I sense that our tough guy may have a bit of a lost little boy in him somewhere that is just aching to be let free.

When you start a CD Reiss book there is one thing that is going to capture your attention immediately. Words. Not just because they're on the page, but it’s in the way she uses them...

“...His eyes were black as a felony.”

“...a storm of hormone shrapnel.”

This is something that is unique to her style and part of the reason why I absolutely love reading her work. There are a lot of authors that can write exceptional romance and p***y-melting sex scenes, but not all can create those things while completely encasing it in pure beauty, talent and ability to create such vivid imagery with words. There was no reach to try to imagine what was playing out on these pages, it was clear as day because of that talent.

I cannot express enough how highly I recommend anything this woman writes. You don’t have to start off with SOS, but I would. You get a few pieces of Jonathan & Monica in Spin, it lapse the time that they are first meeting and although not too much is exposed (yet), it will keep you occupied until the second book in Songs of Corruptions is released. Some may not like the format of serials, but being that SOS is fully released, it reads like a trilogy if read back to back, and believe me, you won’t be able to put it down.

I’ll stop my fan-girling before it starts to get too creepy, but I loved this story and am now going to have to stop myself from pleading for the second book to be released tomorrow instead of months from now.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 5 stars! Spin, book 1 (3). Alleged mob boss Antonio Spinelli & Theresa's worlds of politics, movies, mafia & corruption collid 12 mars 2014

"How straight you are for the world, and how you bend and cry for me. I want to go so deep in you we have the same thoughts."
Songs of Corruption is the whirlwind saga of alleged mob boss Antonio Spinelli and Theresa Drazen. It's a sequel series to Songs of Submission and Songs of Dominance and thus most enjoyed if read after and in order:
Book 1: Spin
Book 2: Untitled
Book 3: Untitled

Spin (book 1) opens up to glum life of Theresa Drazen, Tink, the career woman, good sister, loyal friend and forgiving ex-fiancé's life. Six months prior she had found her then fiancé, District attorney and Mayor of Los Angeles candidate, Daniel in bed with his speechwriter. Since then she has maintained a friendship with her ex, continued her work as the head of client accounting for talent agency WDE and had her long-time friend and movie producer Katrina move in while taking on the job has her script supervisor on her free-time. But on the inside she is tired of being composed, tired of the status quo.

One evening while out with her brother, Jonathan (Songs of Submission) she briefly meets a handsome stranger she can't forget. At another "chance" encounter a few days later she learns he is attorney Antonio Spinelli, Spin, recently arrived from Italy.

Their attraction and sexual tension is palpable and instantaneous when two opposites attract offering some off-the-charts sex up against walls and furniture, but Antonio is slippery... and so a game of cat and mouse begins...

Soon Theresa aka Contessa discovers that Antonio aka Capo is also an alleged mob boss, money launderer and murderer under investigation. Yet with little in common and much to lose they cannot seem to stay away. Antonio appears both taken with her grace and beauty and intrigued by her fearlessness and guts. Theresa is drawn to his beauty, sexiness and lifestyle to the point of feeling reckless.

Spin follows Antonio and Theresa in a high-stakes game as the worlds of cut-throat politics, competitive movie industry and ruthless organized crime collide for Songs of Corruption. Strap on your seatbelts for their against-all-odd's love story with suspense, secrets, deceit, jealousy, treachery, ambition, corruption, danger and more.
"Your first loyalty is to me. Every moan on your lips, Every wet drop from your c~ t. When the thought of f~ king crosses your mind, it's mine. Say it."

ANTONIO SPINELLI, SPIN aka CAPO: 35 years/Italian/$$$$/attorney/restaurant owner/alleged mob boss, money launderer & murder/black hair/black eyes/6'.
Antonio Spinelli, Spin aka Capo is every bit the enigma with all the qualities of a larger-than-life hero. Book one only scratched the surface. I hope to learn more about the man in next-coming books. Eight words to describe Antonio: Captivating, loyal, commanding, conflicted, enigmatic, elusive, possessive and ruthless.
"Make no mistake, I will hurt you to protect you."

THERESA DRAZEN, TINK aka CONTESSA: 34 years/American/$$$$/heiress & socialite/head of client accounting at WDE/part-time movie script supervisor/red hair/blue eyes/petite & curvy/Jonathan's sister.
Theresa Drazen, Tink aka Contessa has lived the perfectly composed life excelling in her career, but failing with intimacy. We get to see her OCD and pick on her he desire to break free and let loose. She doesn't want to be the good girl any more. Eight words to describe Theresa: Poised, compassionate, smart, ambitious, loyal, gutsy, restless and graceful.
"He'd f~ ked me and, f~ ked me dirty."

Needless to say Antonio and his Contessa take us on a roller-coaster of emotions and intrigue only to end rather abruptly in and good but uncertain place. I cannot wait for book 2 in the Songs of Corruption series!

Spectacular plot! Spellbinding storytelling! Interesting and developed characters! Larger-than-life Antonio Spinelli! The very best of danger, sex and suspense with promise of much more!
"I am afraid I won' have you, and I'm afraid I will."

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Sexy, Suspenseful Masterpiece! 12 mars 2014
Par Shayna Renee's Spicy Reads - Publié sur

Spin, Songs of Corruption #1 by CD Reiss was a masterpiece of EPIC proportions! I was hooked from the very first page with no signs of stopping! Fast-paced, thrilling, and sexy; Spin will take you on a journey full of crime, deception, and sensual wonders. Hands down, one of the most suspenseful, erotic romances of the year! CD Reiss can do no wrong. Her style of writing and her real-ness of the characters will leave you craving more and more each time.

❝His words had fingers, and as he spoke, they drifted down my body, fondling me and arousing me.❞

Meet Antonio Spinelli. Italian, possessive, gorgeous, dangerous, and just plain SEX in a suit. He is my perfect hero. Just saying his name makes me shiver. Is he a lawyer? Business man? Crime boss? All of the above? Whatever he is, he can take me anytime, anywhere, anyhow. He is the type of man who will not only have you, claim you....Antonio is the type of man who will POSSESS you. Ladies, we all know that dangerous men are the most attractive. They have a way of looking at you and reaching down to the depths of your soul and dominating you. Antonio will be that to you and MORE. Trust me on this.

❝I want you, and I'm going to have you. That's it.❞

Theresa Drazen, woman in control. Successful, wealthy, beautiful. She had everything and more until her husband wrecked their love. She is still in love with her ex-husband, but something flipped inside her when she set her eyes on a stranger in a parking lot. Nothing will be the same for her after that night. This man had a way of bringing out the animal in her. He made her out of control with lust and she couldn't run away from it. No matter what the danger, no matter what the reputation, the pull between these two is inescapable.

❝You're mine. I am who I am, and I own you. That's all it is.❞

Just like in her Songs of Submission series, we get romance, we get suspense, and we get sex so explosive it will take your breath away. These two characters together, it's so primal, so intense, you can't look away from the pages. There are times when they aren't making love, they are purely ****ing each other's brains out. It's demanding, it's angry, there is a constant push-pull between the two. I was out of breath by the end of some of those scenes for sure. Don't worry, there are still some sweet and tender moments that will melt your heart. It's just so emotional, because they know they are bad for each other, but no matter what they do, whose feelings they hurt, they cannot stay away.

❝God help me, every time I walk away from you, I only see hell in front of me.❞

I was prepared. I psyched myself out, and told myself that there was going to be a cliffhanger and I was going to scream. The time came as I read the last couple of pages, and my heart beat faster and faster. The killer cliffhanger never came. Sure, there were unanswered questions, unresolved feelings, but I was pleasantly surprised by the ending, satisfied if you will. I know CD Reiss is giving us more Antonio Spinelli, and she delivers over and over again. Waiting is a ****h, isn't it?

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A Smoldering Must-Read 12 mars 2014
Par Xkoqueen - Publié sur
Format:Format Kindle
Anyone who follows my reviews knows that I don't giveaway stars easily, and when I say a book is a must read, I REALLY mean it. Well, Spin by C.D. Reiss is a must read!

When I read the teaser for Spin by C.D. Reiss, I thought it was going to be her best work yet, and I was right. Reiss can write sexy love scenes that pop like water in a hot skillet, and she doesn't forget that there needs to be a plot and a lucid, compelling story beyond and between those love scenes. Her writing is erudite and her attention to detail is amazing. Her description of various sensations--smell and touch not just sight--add so much to the reader's experience. I could smell Antonio's cologne. I could hear Pam's rhythmic tapping on her stapler. I could feel the velvety petals of the roses.

This book shone a spotlight on the author's ability to incorporate humor and smoldering anticipation into the same scene. I loved how Reiss tied in tidbits and story lines from her previous books. This book isn't just a spin-off of her prior series, Songs of Submission; this story starts a new series with a timeline that is parallel to the last series but focuses on the sister(s) of Jonathan Drazen (much loved male lead of Songs of Submission). Reiss weaves these story lines together like a crofter on the Isle of Harris weaving tweed. We get a little insight to Margie, but the focus is Theresa Drazen, heiress, socialite and accountant to WDE talent agency and ex-girlfriend of mayoral candidate, Daniel Browser.

Antonio Spinelli lights Theresa's passion, and she finds there is life beyond debits and credits. Antonio finds his reason to live, to love, to commit and to fight. While there are descriptive sex scenes, they're not graphically written merely for shock-value. They are a slow, sweaty, humid afternoon without A.C.; they are fireworks bursting on a warm July night.
