Definitely worth getting at least 1 for the upgrades and unique pilots 3 juin 2014
Par El Tonio - Publié sur Amazon.com
The E-Wing is one of four "Wave 4" expansion sets for the X-Wing miniatures game. I think there are some good reasons to add at least one or two E-Wings to your Rebel fleet.

It is a little costly, but the base stats (3 attack, 3 defense, 2 hull and 3 shields) are pretty good. It can also do four different actions, and take many different kinds of upgrades.
Pilots include:

(1) Knave Squadron Pilot, a level 1 non-unique pilot that costs 27 points (yikes!).

(2) Blackmoon Squadron Pilot, a level 3 point non-unique pilot that costs 29 points.

(3) Ethan A'Baht, a level 5 unique pilot that costs 32 points, with very nice offensive special ability that reads, "When an enemy ship inside your firing arc at Range 1-3 is defending, the attacker ay change 1 of its [hit] results to a [crit] result."

(4) Corran horn, a level 8 unique pilot that costs 35 points, with another great offensive special ability that reads, "At the start of the End phase, you may perform one attack. You cannot attack during the next round." Just missed destroying a ship this round? Corran Horn lets you try again!

It also includes two previously released upgrades (Flechette Torpedoes and Advanced Sensors), one upgrade that also comes with another Wave 4 ships (Outmaneuver -- a 3 point elite talent that reduces your targets agility by one if you are not also in their firing arc), plus TWO astromech droids that were exclusive to this expansion at the time it was released (R7 who costs 2 points and lets you spend your target lock to make an attacking ship reroll any number of attack dice; and R7-T1 who costs 3 points and let you perform a free boost action when you acquire a target lock on a ship inside your firing arc).

As with all expansions, this one includes all tokens, dials, etc. that you need to use this ship in a game (though a copy of the base set is still needed to play).

Given that the cheapest one costs 27 points you'll never need more than three for a standard 100 point game. At a minimum, I think it adds enough to get one or two, which is what I did to start.

A worthy upgrade for the rebels 7 juillet 2014

The E-Wing is an expansion for the X-Wing Miniature Game, which happens to include a good model. I got this ship from the Micro Machines Action Fleet collection, but I'm not familiar with this ship from the Star Wars EU. The ship looks intriguing so I decided to get this one.

The sculpt and paint of this miniature are really good. This miniature is about 2" long x 1" wide. Not knowing better, I believe Fantasy Flight Games has this ship at scale with other miniatures in the X-Wing Miniature Game such as the X-Wing and Tie Fighters.

In addition to the E-Wing, this expansion includes a stand and a base for the miniature, two ship tokens for the base, one maneuver dial, a rulesheet, and plenty of other tokens as those included for the X-Wing Miniature Game.

The cards included in the expansion make this ship interesting. This expansion includes:

4 ships/pilots: Corran Horn (8, 35pts), Etahn A'baht (5, 32pts), Blackmoon Squadron Pilot (3, 29pts) and Knave Squadron Pilot (1, 27pts);
1 talent upgrade: Outmaneuver
1 torpedo upgrade: Flechette Torpedoes (3)
1 system upgrade: Advanced Sensors
2 astromech upgrades: R7-T1 and R7 astromech.
1 reference card: Boost Action.

The E-Wing is as powerful as an X-Wing (3), more agile (3) and has stronger shield (3), but less hull (2). It is as maneuverable as an X-Wing with a straight speed up to 5, perform a Koiogran turn at speed 4 and 3 at a cost of stress, but has green turn at speed 2 instead of 1.

Overall, this is another great model for Star Wars collectors and an interesting (and expensive) fighter from the EU.
Awesome EU addition 13 août 2015

Lore-wise, the E-wing is an advanced starfighter that was designed to replace the X-wing. It incorporated an a new astromech droid, three laser cannons, and a heavy proton torpedo load. It never quite replaced the eponymous Rebel fighter, mainly due to high cost.

In X-wing Miniatures, the E-wing can be described similarly: it's better than an X-wing but more expensive to field- almost as expensive as the Imperial TIE Defender. The E-wing handily outmaneuvers the X-wing, with an extra K-turn at speed 3 and a straight 5, plus more green maneuvers. However, the best E-wing pilot costs a whopping 35 points, which is 6 higher than Wedge (who has a higher pilot skill).

But speaking of that pilot... it's Corran Horn, probably my favorite EU character and a familiar guy for anyone who's read any of Stackpole's X-wing books (if you haven't, go do it now... seriously). It's slightly odd because I don't think he's ever noted as flying the E-wing, but I'm glad he made it into the game. He has a pretty insane ability to 'borrow' the next round's attack, enabling him to attack twice in a single round. This can be extremely useful, especially given the E-wing's high speed and astromech. You can blast away in one round, then do a lazy green turn to recover shields with R2-D2, or zoom off and come back in for another pass at close range.

The E-wing also packs some interesting options- including a sensor upgrade and the ability to barrel roll and evade. No other Rebel ship has this combination, and only the TIE Phantom on the Imperial side does.

Stat wise, the E-wing is straight 3s except for 2 hull. It's great both offensively and defensively, but not exactly a tank- it's advisable you protect your investment with everyone's favorite targ- er, wingman (Biggs) or some good upgrade cards.

The sculpt of this ship is great, and it's a cool looking ship in general. I'm also pretty sure this is the only non-custom-made model of the E-wing available anywhere at all. This is one of the cool things about this game- just being able to see and collect EU ships that have literally never been seen outside of books and video games.
interesting addition to x-wing 6 octobre 2014

Another addition to the star wars x-wing game that did not come from the movie but the video game . Put this one ship with almost any combination of rebel ships and the empire will probably have a "BAD" day dealing with it !!!
A worthy upgrade to the X-Wing 7 août 2014

The ship has strong potential but is very expensive. This makes it hard when replacing the X-Wing. The B-Wing is often a better deal.

That said, the pilot/ship combo brings several advantages the B-Wings cannot offer.
