You will definitely want a few of these because of the low cost and Lieutenant Blount's great special ability 3 juin 2014
Par El Tonio - Publié sur Amazon.com
The Z-95 Headhunter is one of four "Wave 4" expansion sets for the X-Wing miniatures game. I think there are some good reasons to add several Z-95s to your Rebel fleet.

For the cost the base stats (2 attack, 2 defense, 2 hull, and 2shields) aren't too bad. The cheapest Z-95 costs 12 points, so these stats compare pretty favorably to the 12 point Academy Pilot which has 2 attack, 3 defense, 3 hull, and 0 shields (and the Z-95 can carry a missile and a TIE fighter cannot). Given this low point cost, you could put 8 in 100 point squad with room for an upgrade or two, and I definitely plan on giving this a try.

Pilots include:

(1) Bandit Squadron Pilot, a level 2 non-unique pilot that costs 12 points. Note that the 12 point academy pilot has a pilot skill of 1, so the Z-95would always attack first.

(2) Tala Squadron Pilot, a level 4 non-unique pilot that costs 13 points.

(3) Lieutenant Blount, a level 6 unique pilot that costs 17 points, with an awesome special ability that reads, "
When attacking, the defender is hit by your attack, even if he does not suffer any damage." This means a ship you attack will lose Stealth Devices even if you miss, that your Assault Missile will do splash damage even if it misses, and that your Ion Pulse Missile will always do 1 damage and deliver 2 ion tokens even if it misses. Very curious to see how this affects the game in the long run.

(4) Airen Cracken, a level 8 unique pilot that costs 19 points, with another special ability that will come in very handy; it reads "After you perform an attack, you may choose another friendly ship at Range 1. That ship may perform 1 free action.."

It also includes one previously released upgrades (Assault Missiles), two upgrades that also comes with other Wave 4 ships (Ion Pulse Missiles -- a 3 point which can assign TWO ion tokens to a ship, and Munitions Failsafe -- which lets you keep a secondary weapon if it doesn't hit), plus two that was exclusive to this expansion at the time it was released (Wingman - a 2 point elite talent that lets you remove a stress token from a friendly ship at range 1, and Decoy - a 2 point elite talent that lets you swap pilot skill levels with another friendly ship at range 1-2).

As with all expansions, this one includes all tokens, dials, etc. that you need to use this ship in a game (though a copy of the base set is still needed to play).

This ship should be a nice addition to the game. Lieutenant Blount's ability will lead to some very nice and reasonably priced combos. The low cost will make it possible to squeeze a fourth or fifth ship into more Rebele squads. And, the low cost will also make it possible to run a true Rebel Swarm (8 Z-95s) that before now was not really possible. I know lots of people bought 8 for this very reason, and I did, too.

A nice nod to the X-Wing predecesor 7 juillet 2014
Par Neko-san - Publié sur Amazon.com
The Z-95 Headhunter is an expansion for the X-Wing Miniature Game, which happens to include a great model. As the supposed predecessor of the X-Wing, I had to get this one. The model is awesome, incorporating the earlier ideas of how the X-Wing was supposed to be.

The sculpt and paint of this miniature are excellent. This miniature is about 2" long x 1.5" wide. This ship is as big as the X-Wing so it is at scale with other miniatures in the X-Wing Miniature Game such as the X-Wing and Tie Fighters.

In addition to the Z-95, this expansion includes a stand and a base for the miniature, two ship tokens for the base, one maneuver dial, a rulesheet, and plenty of other tokens as those included for the X-Wing Miniature Game.

I had no expectations, but the cards included in the expansion make this ship even more interesting. This expansion includes:

4 ships/pilots: Airen Cracken (8, 19pts), Lt. Blount (6, 17pts), Tala Squadron Pilot (4, 13pts) and Bandid Squadron Pilot (2, 12pts)
2 talent upgrades: Wingman and Decoy
1 utility upgrade: Munition Failsafe
2 missile upgrades: Assault Missiles (4) and Ion Pulse Missiles (3).
2 reference cards: Modifications and Titles and Ion Token

As expected, the Z-95 is not as powerful (2) or has as much hull (2) as an X-Wing, but it is as agile (2) and has about the same shields (2). It is as maneuverable as an X-Wing, but can perform a Koiogran turn at 3 instead 4 with stress.

Overall, this is great model for Star Wars collectors and an inexpensive version of the favorite rebel fighter.

Nothing beats the feeling of power they give you 10 février 2015

This is basically the Rebel's answer to the TIE fighter, which is pretty accurate given their performance described in EU books and in video games. The Z-95 is a cheap, relatively brittle ship that is basically half an X-wing, and FFG did a good job of adapting this expected performance to the game rules.

The mini is very well done, with great detail including visible modifications depicting a late-model Headhunter. Note there are a ton of different Z-95 types described in EU, from atmo-only versions with autoblasters to Booster Terrik's souped-up personal fighter that was a spitting image of an X-wing (including S-foils). This one is a 'mainstream' version but you can always tweak and modify the model or rules to depict others.

In-game versus TIEs, it's really a matter of maneuvers and whether they get any good hits with their missiles. The Z-95 has some advantages in this respect, notably shields and a 12-point pilot skill of 2 vs. 1 for TIEs (meaning they shoot first). However, it's less maneuverable (both dial and agility), can't barrel roll, and has less hull. Versus other Imperial ships, they rely on numbers just like TIEs. They're cheap enough that you can squeeze one in to most squads, which is nice- previously, Rebels typically had to settle for loading up upgrades on a handful of ships instead.

I'd say it's essential to have at least one Z-95 in a Rebel fleet for use as a filler, and if you want to play with Reb swarms you can definitely pick up a lot more. This is one of those ships that you wouldn't want to be in the cockpit of (back in the X-vs-TIE days we always used to make fun of it), but is great to have around as a squadron commander.

P.S. as a head's up, this ship will also (along with the Y-wing, HWK, and Firespray) be in the upcoming third faction Scum & Villainy. This means they will be able to pull double duty if you're thinking of playing that faction later.

Great support ship 27 août 2014

A nice addition to my x wing lists. Z-95's are the cheapest missile carrier and not too bad if you can get them in close. Great for supporting a named x wing like luke or biggs as they have the same movement dial. Not too good by themselves or with A-wings, but they are so cheap in points you can get two for the price of one x wing!

Decent expansion for a spectacular game 15 septembre 2014

I love X-Wing. I think I have a problem where i can't stop ordering more ships.

The Z-95 does a decent job filling the cheaper fighter role for rebels. It's still not quite a TIE but it can carry missiles so I guess it balances. I now have 4 of these and it seems the do alright in a small swarm.
