Wonderful story, better illustrations 22 février 2006

This is an endearing book by Hans Christian Anderson, illustrated by David Delamare. It tells the story of an ostracized tin soldier with only one leg who is desperately in love with a paper ballerina. The ballerina is standing with one leg raised so high that the soldier thinks that she, like himself, has only one leg. It so happens that one day the soldier stands too close to the window and is blown out. He goes through quite an ordeal that ends in the belly of fish. This particular fish is bought by a cook who turns out to work in the same home that the soldier had originally resided in. But, in a wicked turn of fate, the soldier is thrown into the furnace; however, just as he is melting down, a draft blows through the room and the little, paper ballerina is blown into the furnace aswell. Later, a maid cleans out the furnace and finds only a little tin heart. It's really a beautiful story, and the illustrations are divine. David Delamare's fanciful yet geometric style lends a fairy tale ambience to a heart-warming story.
Great Version of this great story 29 mars 2008

This is a great version of the story of The Steadfast Tin Soldier -- always one of my favorite stories as a kid. My son, age 7, loves this book and we read it over and over. The illustrations are excellent and I recommend it. My son found it in his school library but when we went to buy our own copy, it was out of print. So we had to buy it used but it was well worth the effort to have our own copy.

The Steadfast Tin Soilder 19 décembre 2002

The book is the Steadefast Tin solider. It is written by David Delamare. This book is a picture book. The pictures are really creative.
There was a little boy who got a tin solider for his birthday. He played with it for hours. Then he put it in this elegant house. At night magic stirred to the little boy's playthings. A creeping withched goblin came out of the jack in the box. In the morning the child woke, up took the tin solider to a boat ride, and the boat disapeared. It sank down and down then a fish ate it. A man caught the fish and found the tin solider and gave it to his daughter. The daughter put it in her play house and the tin sloider fell in love with a ballerina.
The plot of the book was dull. I could hardly understand it. No, I absoultly hated this dull book.I do not recommend this book for anyone. I do not EVER want to read this terrible book again.
