HASH(0x98927768) étoiles sur 5 A Better Than Average Single 6 octobre 2000
Par NOEL GALLAGHER - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
Oasis 3rd single from their "Standing On The Shoulder of Giants" CD is better than average, although it could have been better. Let's start with the single itself. This studio version of "Sunday Morning Call" is grossly over-produced with too many warbled sound effects. It's too long, contains too much instrumentation, and just seems to really drag on by the end. If you don't believe me, listen to the acoustic version Noel performed on Radio One. This version is beautiful, as Noel's vocals make this a top-notch acoustic number. Bottom line: This is a great song with great lyrics that was ruined in production. It should have been released as a more sincere, acoustic ballad. Moving on, the b-sides "Carry Us All" and "Full On" are top notch, although "Full On" seems to be begging for Liam's more hard rock vocal styling. This is the first Oasis single in which Noel sings all the tracks, and it just doesn't seem like an Oasis single without at least one "Liammed" track. "Carry Us All" is an excellent track with some of Noel's best lyrics to date. "Full On" sums up the third track, as it really is a "full on" rock track. Surprisingly, however, Noel has managed to incorporate a catchy tune and great lyrics into a song that screams "hard rock". Again, the only thing missing on this track is Liam. As usual, however, Oasis have proven that their b-sides are at least as good as their album tracks, if not better. Why else would an American spend [the money] for an import CD that contains only 3 songs?

HASH(0x989277d4) étoiles sur 5 It's a shame Noel doesn't sing more... 21 septembre 2003

I don't understand how anyone can possibly think Liam is a better singer than Noel, but that's the beauty of opinions, right? The single "Sunday Morning Call" is a lovely ballad sung with incredible emotion by Noel; there's no way Liam could sing this song as beautifully as Noel! The lyrics are lovely and I think this is one of my favourite Oasis songs. If only Noel would sing more...

HASH(0x9892f09c) étoiles sur 5 The Best from the new album 26 juillet 2000
Par Bob Thompson - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
The first totally Liam free Oasis ep finally arrives. Sunday Morning Call, despite getting some mediocre reviews is actually the best of the three released so far. It has an honest quality to it which is absent in most Noel Gallagher tunes but like many of Oasis greatest moments it manages to be saddening while at the same time sounds very inspirational. "When you're lonely and you start to hear the little voices in your head at night" is a great line which is really the heart of the song. Noel touches upon his exhaustion with Oasis while also alluding to his drug use. Nice. "Sunday Morning Call" doesn't feature any of the silly lyrics of "Go Let it Out" or the faux spirituality of "Who Feels Love." Rather it is just honest and beautiful. Definitley for "Don't Look Back in Anger" fans.
B-side "Carry Us All" is another highlight. Typcial mid-paced Noel stuff. Sounds exactly like most of his other recent b-sides like "One Way Road," "Flashbax", Cigarettes in Hell" (minus the mellatron) and unreleased "Solve My Mystery." You can see where this is going a mile away but it is still good. Noel's new big thing seems to be pondering on God as he know does it in every third song. Still great.
The third track on the single is loud and abbrassive and actually proves that Noel really hasn't been able to right any all out rockers since "Definitley Maybe." Those who argue that this song is genius are really just praising it for the sake of it being Oasis. It is dull and average and needs Liam.
A great package because of the first two.

HASH(0x988c5420) étoiles sur 5 Another Great Oasis Single 15 avril 2004
Par Matthew Edmundson - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
Sunday Morning Call once again shows that Oasis can make great singles. More of the songs have a spiritual theme to them and all the songs on this single are song by Noel.
Sunday Morning Call is a decent song. It is a little long and seems to drag at times. I agree with the guy who said they overproduced it with the sounds. This is a song that would have been better off song by Liam. It's still a decent song though.
Carry Us All to me is the reason to pick this jewel up. It's such an amazing song. I love the ending line in the chorus "have faith in what you got and it will Carry Us All, Carry Us All." Thats a beautiful line in a beautiful song. Noel sings about some of the hyprocrites you find in religion and he plainly states his beliefs. This song is vintage Oasis with a catchy chorus and great guitar rifts.
Full On is another song where Noel tells you how it's going to be. I have respect for someone who tells you whats on his mind. The distortion in this song bothers me sometimes. It reminds me to much of the Swamp Song. It's cool to hear Noels song through the distortion. I love the beat to this song though and the chorus is cathcy. This song is pretty rare and this is the only place to get it.
Sunday Morning Call is a great Oasis single. It's the only place to pick these three songs up and is a must for any Oasis collector and collection.

HASH(0x98932ea0) étoiles sur 5 No Liam Gallagher Call 8 juillet 2000
Par Gavin Forrest - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
This is a superb CD but where the hell is Liam Gallagher on any of the songs.Liam would have sounded perfect for the B-side Full On which captures some of the brilliance of Definatly Maybes rock 'n' Roll sound. Its not much point putting Oasis on the cover as Noels the only one that features on it.He should have released this as a Noel Gallagher recording.
Anyway the highlight of these three epic tracks is Carry Us All which is quite beutiful and should have appeared on SOTSOG
