Description de l'ouvrage

40 leading venture capitalists come together to teach entrepreneurs how to succeed with their startup

The Entrepreneurial Bible to Venture Capital is packed with invaluable advice about how to raise angel and venture capital funding, how to build value in a startup, and how to exit a company with maximum value for both founders and investors. It guides entrepreneurs through every step in an entrepreneurial venture from the legalities of raising initial capital to knowing when to change tactics.

Andrew Romans is the cofounder and co-chairman of Georgetown Angels, a growing group of angle investors focused on seed and series A investments in technology companies. Romans is also founder and general partner of The Founders Club, a venture capital equity exchange fund and direct secondary venture capital fund.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A very important book about a very important industry 27 novembre 2013
Par William H. Draper III - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format:Relié
Andrew Romans has written a very special book on the industry that I spent most of my years working in and have written about.
If you pick it up, I guarantee that you will learn a great deal about venture capital and how it works. Romans gives sound advice for entrepreneurs on how to select good venture capitalists, how to pitch them and how to make the best use of them as partners. The book is easy to read and explains a broad range of issues in a clear, concise and interesting way. If you are at all interested in the subject don't fail to read this book.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 This Book Will Save You Time 30 octobre 2013

The thing I like most about this book is that it clearly presents compelling reasons for how you should proceed about the entire exercise of raising capital - not just the mechanics of capital. It quickly covers all of the peripheral issues surrounding legal fees, board selection, who should participate in the round, etc. The book is concise about this.

If you want the biggest bang for your buck, and the shortest read time to broad competency on the topic, you'll buy this book.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Exceptionally accessible explanation for entrepreneurs of venture capital 1 février 2014
Par Dan Johnson - Publié sur Amazon.com

Imagine if you had a friend from college who got into the Silicon Valley venture capital scene and decided to spend a weekend with you over beers explaining how it all worked. That's what reading Andrew Roman's book Venture Capital Bible feels like: a buddy telling you war stories and anecdotes while taking the time to explain how term sheets, post-money valuations and later-stage funding all works.

It feels very current and conversational. Trhoughout the book, Romans calls on you to get involved. Believe in yourself. Dream big and get to work. And join his club if you have money to invest.

What sort of companies do venture capitalists look to fund? (Mega-growth). How do you approach them? (Get to know someone they know and trust). How do they think and how can you figure out the right fit for your company? (Do your research and don't oversell).

If you're just interested in learning how companies like Google, Facebook, LinkedIn and lots of others actually grew -- much faster than their cash flow would otherwise allow -- from the perspective of the people who invested the money, this is a really interesting book as well.

The core audience, however, is the entrepreneur. If you run a startup company or aspire to do so, this is an excellent education. The book is full of great, candid advice on how raising money actually works. I learned a lot.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 The best book on venture capital for startups yet written 16 décembre 2013
Par Timothy W. Dick - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format:Relié|Achat authentifié par Amazon
The best book on venture capital yet written. After you get past Mr. Romans chest-pounding exercises (the first couple of chapters are egregious, but he recovers quickly) this book is more thorough, covers more topics, and is more specifically useful than any other. The guest chapters are also excellent.

Jeff Bussgang's book is better as "what do VCs really do / day in the life" and Tom Perkins & Tim Draper's books are interesting stories & histories but Mr. Romans book is the most practical book on VC for startups yet written. If you have to pick just one, this is it.

(PS - I am a Silicon Valley VC and was a startup CEO for 12 years before that.)

Clearly written, and has teeth: recommended for noobs who are looking for insights into how the venture capital finance game works.
