CrossFit Champions are not made overnight. The difference between ranking in the Games, and gassing out before the Regionals, is not the quantity of training, but the quality. Good form and good programming are vital.
 
This book is a slice of history. It is the actual regimen used to train Julie Foucher (The 2nd Fittest Woman on Earth, CrossFit Games 2012) and several other competitors, for the 2012 Games. This is the complete training season, starting immediately after the 2011 CrossFit Games, through the development phases and the 2012 Games competition season, to the two-week 2012 CrossFit Games.

The programming sought to increase overall capacity in everything that could possibly be tested in Games competition. The methodology is geared to minimizing weaknesses, by consistent and frequent exposure to varied skill sets. It is an amalgam of nine years of programming experience at HyperFit USA (CrossFit Ann Arbor). It is the sum-total of training experience. It is a snapshot of what was done.

The purposes of this book are several. Primarily, it is the training we used to prepare people for the highest expression of fitness there is, the CrossFit Games. It is also a record of how we operated our gym. We do not separate our aspiring Games athletes from our base program. We believe that at its core, CrossFit is a general physical preparedness program, broadening and deepening the human capability to do work in many testable areas. Having our best people work alongside our newest people underlies one of the key tenets of CrossFit: that it is infinitely scalable. 

The daily chapters contain different sections. The first section covers the classes we did in our box, and in other affiliates. These classes have some common components. The training usually includes a warm-up; some are general, and others are multifaceted and dynamic. The next component is either a WOD or Max Effort training. The sequence of these two items also changes at times, true to the ideal that CrossFit should be constantly varied. The classes often include extensive skills sets and movement progressions to help people move better. The programming is built around a highly organized, instructor-led training session.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS THE ACTUAL, UNALTERED PROGRAMMING.

You will see it exactly the way it happened! For example, some days will include “Holiday Special”, “Instructor Play” or TBA. The training season between the 2011 and 2012 CrossFit Games was only 50 weeks; therefore, this “year” contains only 50 weeks.

Alors la , la cerise sur le gateau!

Trouver ce "kindle" écrit par Doug Chapman (coach renommé "hyperfitUSA") sur julie foucher , top CF athlète (2eme au CF games 2012)
fut une grande aide, pour voir la planification/programmation de 2011/12 sur quasiment 1année de cette athlète.
rest toujours aussi fascinant pour moi
meme si tres rébarbatif dans le sens ou vous y trouverai seulement des wods et non des explications sur les cycles de periodisation de chaque phase préparatoires , des points forts et points faibles...
c'est le seul inconvénient mais comme j'aime chercher les choses sa passe outre et c'est une tres bonne chose que le coach Chapman nous a fait

This is it - the real, unaltered programming I and many others did in preparation for the 2012 CrossFit Games. Each year I have worked with Doug I have been amazed by the limits my body has been able to surpass in response to his comprehensive and methodical programming. This publication provides some insight into exactly what runs through his mind and will provide ideas and strategies for how to program for athletes of any fitness level as well as how to incorporate this programming into a class environment.

The book is missing much of the text in regards to the workouts. It would be a great resource if complete, but unfortunately it is not. For example: " WOD:______________ AMRAP 15min",..okay, so what am I doing for 15 minutes as an AMRAP.
Extremely frustrating given the price tag.

I began using this programming in my gym about a year ago and have had great success with many levels of athletes. Doug has taught me a great deal about coaching, training and excellence. This is not The answer, it is An answer. The book is a simple, thoughtfully laid out training plan meant to prepare people for competitive crossfit and general fitness. Anyone can scale the plan and work outs to fit with in their abilities or the abilities of their athletes. The book lays out progressions in skills and training volume. If you pursue training excellence and are willing to go the extra steps to be the best you can at every skill and facet of fitness this is a great addition to your training. Do the work and you will see the value.

Doug's book gives a glimpse into what it takes to build a world-class athlete. Yet, the programming and principles can be applied to any person or gym. That is the beauty of this training guide. It serves as a complete reference for how to set-up and execute a complete year of programming. At our gym people tracked their progress over the past year of following the programming in this book, and they saw an average of over 20% improvement on their fitness!

Saying this book is for everyone is going to create a lot of disappointment. There is no explanation of the acronyms. I'm two weeks in and still don't know what one component is on the warmup and had to skip two WODs because I couldn't figure out what the exercise was supposed to be. I have been a CrossFitter for nearly a year and have been to dozens of boxes on the east coast.

I agree with prior reviews that an explanation of intent would be great, but I don't consider it critical. If things were just spelled out I would be thrilled. I love the balance of strength challenges with met cons. I have no doubt that following Doug's guidelines will lead to amazing improvements. However, I'm getting frustrated with the YouTube research required to read between the lines!
